Like I mentioned earlier, Dilo's pretty buggy atm with its venom not working correctly. When it normally works, you typically hunt at night with superior night vision and your venom is easier to induce. You're made of glass and bleed easily so you ideally work by ambushing and sneak attacking. You induce venom (after reaching 40ish % growth) that hides your prey's sight, confuses their audio, and if you RMB when they're fully envenomated it makes a hallucination of you to charge and bite them(which is what's bugged atm).

it varies tbh, and you're better in a pack too. you can take down some things that are about your size if it's night and you get the surprise but you have to play pretty cautiously

Question for the peoples as im still learning, i watched that advanced prime elder vid everyone has probably seen that goes through all the dinosaurs and explains how the stats work for everything. So my question is ofc all prime and frail elders are a bit weaker than at 87.5% peak, i.e if you gonna take on that prime in your server that had been terrorising then that is the time to do it.

my question being - is the deino the acception to the rule in this, they do have a marginally weaker bite force but surely the extra like 3 tonnes they seem to grow puts them ahead. i find with that dino weight is just everything

People don't actually know the exact requirements to get PE the videos and guides are people who tend to get it regularly but there's others who follow exactly what the videos say and don't get it. There's either some bugs that need to be worked out or something they're missing

It seems like alot of people have gotten so focused on being the strongest possible that they forgot the joy in games is simply playing them. It's the journey to the end goal. And if you fail along the way that's ok cause you had fun anyway. You don't have to play in the most optimized metagamed way possible every time and you shouldn't.

Also people need to stop treating the game like a dino deathmatch lol too many times I'm running around as herbivore and get killed and they don't even take my organs

Only herrera, deino, and sort of rex are imo the true ambushers. Yes all the dinosaurs can pull off a type of ambush but it's not their main successful hunting style to go "surprise motherf-er!" Yes you technically "ambush" the prey repeatedly as troodon. But I'd call it more just playing smart and aiming for blind spots. Since an ambush requires the target to not know you're there until the fight is already over. Whereas troodon has to repeatedly run in and wear down the prey. It becomes more of a fight of attrition rather than a true ambush
