I have my own issues with pinning, and I have my own issues with grappling as well.

For Allo I think pinning is mostly fine, its grapple isn't
Raptor's pinning isn't fine, but it's grapple is mostly fine

Pin just needs a few tweaks and changes, but overall it's pretty neat and I just don't get how people act like the entire idea of it is somehow Satan

Grapple requires multiple factors to be able to perform a pin.
If you do not meet those requirements, you simply do not get to pin the prey item.

Pinning, is just pinning something that weighs x% less than you.
Grapple, is the ability of "I get to pin you if I do these specific things"

The normal grapple threshold is: Match 101% of the targets weight.
Which, if you'd notice, is useless if you're alone.

But, you can get 2 allos, or 3, to match that weight.
If you didn't have 2 allos, they wouldn't be pinned.

Getting someone on 25% blood/stamina/HP, lowers the weight needing to be matched down to only needing to matgch 25% of their weight.

For Allo, you can only cooperatively grapple things in a group if they are over 75% of your weight.
Allo can solo grapple anything 51% - 75% of its weight

Grapple = Getting to Pin something by doing certain requirements
Pinning = Simply being bigger and pinning them

Grapple is OP.

But Allo's pin is the most forgiving.

allo pin both deals low damage so you can get saved out of it, it has a very low weight threshhold so many creatures simply can just not get pinned, it's decently balanced

If you want to remove ping, then you should remove the stun and defense from the Stego, the sparring ability from the Trike, and the ability to switch between quadruped and bipedal modes from the Maia. All of these are playable abilities, just like pinning. You can simply avoid pinning, and that's it, how many hours you have ingame dude?

Id say so. Its def a lot more durable than people expect. But its got a lot going for it for sheer consistency in survival. It swims fast, its decently tanky, its also short and if you can hide the tail its decent at hiding, its not too loud, and food and water arent terrible to manage. Jumping is also great you can get a lot of places.

Obv, should be a bit weaker in terms of speed and dmg, but not as drastically as it is right now.

Increase the hunger/thirst/stam drain a bit, and decrease the regenerations a good chunk.

You can survive. It's just gonna be miserable. And not miserable because "Well, if I get found by X thing, then I just die", but just because surviving encounters is gonna be harder and harder, because regeneration is slower.
Getting food/water and maintaining is harder, because your body in old age fails to use the resources available.
