Pretty much everything in Evrima just feels significantly less animalistic or recognizable, and instead they all blend together into very "monstery" sounds that just feel like they are trying too hard. Audio balancing also seems to be hard for them, they seem to have forgotten how to do that since Legacy.

Its particularly egregious when putting them side by side. All of the new sounds have it really bad. Just far less memorable and natural feeling overall. Trike is a good example, it literally feels like a godzilla roar for some calls.

Rex as well, the new broadcast has it especially bad. It's not scary or imposing at all, its just worse, more generic, harming the soundscape of the game significantly.

But, its just the direction theyve decided to go with for Evrima's sound design so its not like complaining about it will do anything. Only thing to do is enjoy Legacy's sound design and atmosphere before its gone for good.

It would just run like an elephant, or a hippo, or really just any massive quadraped herbivore. A gallop works well for a body size that can benefit from it. A triceratops or stegosaurus would have no benefit in trotting, so it feels wrong.

Something like Teno can gallop fine because it has the size and build to loosely fit that archetype. Using that same style of movement on Stego is just silly.

Teno's trot is a good analog for elephant and hippo high speed movement. Picturing it, with a bit more weight and speed as stego or trike's run is probably a good mental image to work from.

I'm not really into gameplay videos for one. The creatures dont fit into the environment at all, they look like a png slapped onto a background. The teno has an unforgivable ugly skin. The colors in general, not just the skins, are incredibly bland looking. The Rex is very stiff, the framing is overall extremely bland.

Its just not a good thumbnail.

I also just think Isle gameplay is some of the worst content to spend your time watching. The only time its worth giving a shot is if its a personality I really enjoy, a friend making the video, having generally nice editing... even then its an uphill battle to make it entertaining... and thats kinda it.

There is only so much that can be done with Isle gameplay that hasn't been done before. Nobody cares about your Trike's epic 8 hour journey you edited down into 20 minutes, if you aren't doing anything special.

Eh. I think it really boils down to how much you like these gameplays and how much you watched/played the Isle. I personally think that Isle is great content for videos but absolute dogcrap for livestreaming. Like I would rather watch a dog walking than watch a guy grow live. For videos, you can create small stories, you can add atmosphere, music, etc that makes it atleast interesting to watch and the abysmall parts can be cut.

but again, its up for taste. but its no secret that if you are a very small youtuber and you want to generate many views and a potential uplift, isle is in the top rn.

The Isle has always been a content niche that has an extremely low bar for entry, but locks you into it pretty hard.

Anyone with access to editing software and a bit of free time can make an Isle video that will do well within The Isle community even if its just raw gameplay, but those same creators are often unknowingly getting themselves stuck. Branching out into other games or niches simply won't work because your subscriber base is only there for your mediocre Isle content.

Its a corner of YouTube that is exceedingly easy to get into, but also exceedingly difficult to get out of.

I think another reason why Isle gameplay videos may not be that interesting is that the whole ecosystem isn't player driven enough at the moment. So everyone is just doing their own thing without impacting the game state as a whole much.

In my opinion that isn't an Isle thing, thats basically every youtube channel that builds for one game. I will agree that it's especially true to isle CC's though. But you can experience the same pattern with other single-focused youtubers. Thats why it's rather better to chose a theme, instead of just a single game. If you go for Isle, majority of your viewers are going to watch you because of the Isle. If you go for Dinosaur theme and you build your channel for that, you going to get viewers with ARK, POT, BoB, Isle and perhaps other dinosaur games such as JWE, etc. They might still favor one over the other, but atleast you won't get stuck with only one game.

You see the same pattern of behavior with pretty much every Isle creator. They upload a few videos that do shockingly well, immediately think "Oh damn my channel has a lot of momentum, it'll get bigger in no time!" Thus only digging themselves deeper, and by the time they realize theyve stagnated and the Isle community gives you no room to grow past a certain point. Its already far too late.

Theming your channel can work a lot better but its much harder to get started. Also you need to avoid falling into one specific niche. Uploading an Isle video could be a bad move for a themed channel because there is a very real chance it'll catch The Isle community, harming the strength of your future videos.

You give too much credit to sponsors if you believe this. They don't give a crap about details, most of them atleast. Many of them only care about views and subs and activites. I mean I got contacted by Adobe for an 5k $ deal when I had 2k subscribers and I had mainly ARK and Isle videos, not even with big views. Youtube sponsorships are dirt money for all the big companies compared to other means of getting your product known. I can guarantee you from experience and from know youtubers, Many many sponsorships doesn't think through for a second at all.

Who where they? I'm actually curious, cuz I had a few sponsorships by now and all they care about is numbers. Eve activity only matters for a few. One of the youtuber I know personally got 5k $ for a tweet. They legit paid for a tweet 5k, with an obviously mostly inactive twitter that had reach to about 800-1000 views. I got contacted about 4 sponsor so far, and they just dont care usually at all, cuz its dirt money for them.

You know what was the deal with adobe?

If I put a 10 sec adobe ad built in my video, its 1k $ , if I put 30 sec, its 2.5k, and if I put 1 min, then 5k.

I asked what about views and activities, I legit mentioned that probably majority of my viewers couldn't even afford an adobe subsription. They said they checked the channel sub and avg viewer/video, and this is the money that they worth risking and they don't even care after that.

I got contacted also by a thumbnail/emblem creator site, which if I accepted the deal, I would've make 200$/ video for 10 sec ad for a month. If its 10 video, then it's 10x 200$. The only criteria was for them for the video to reach 1k views atleast, and after that they would've paid the money.

I got contacted by a shop that sells videogames, what their criteria was? they pay 100$ /1k views, and all I have to do is put their site link in the desc. You would be really shocked how much they don't care about it when they have money. What is a big shot for us, is nothing to a company, because they go for longterm.

Epidemic also contacted me that if I use their site during my youtube career ( which I was using even before), they give me 30% discount on the sub every month and if there is additional discount, its stacking. I had times when I payed 2 euros for a huge library, normal cost was 15-20eu.

Hypefactory and fame-something (I forgot the name.) Were the two specific ones I spoke to and both were pretty consistent in the stance that small insulated communities just aren't desirable for sponsors they are partnered with.

This also lines up loosely with the people I know who are looking for sponsors and their sizes overall. The only one who has gotten real sponsorships only started getting them after he had fully left The Isle behind and passed around 30k subs.

Obviously I havent had any sponsorships myself but in general they do seem to be rather picky as you would naturally assume.

Zones are often just one singular biome without any interesting navigation, segmentation is incredibly unclear making it frustrating to navigate, zones and regions are rather inconsistent, the layout of the zones doesn't really provide much to the map or encourage players to explore or traverse in particular ways, and in general I think its very uninspired for a tropical island.

I'm upset as well, don't get me wrong. But I'm past the point of caring because I've gone back to play Legacy multiple times in the past year and attempted to grow various dinosaurs in both no rules and rules servers.

I saw the glaring issues that I personally had with the branch resurface and then the nostalgia quickly faded. As soon as I stepped foot back into Evrima, it was like a breath of fresh air.

That's not to say that Evrima doesn't have issues.

For one, I agree with your statements about Sound Design. That needs to be addressed. and as it stands by the devblog is in it's early stages of being addressed.

Secondly, you can't base what Evrima's state is now as an image for the future. This time last year, I don't think many people thought we'd have Trike, Rex and Allo in one year, not to mention the Elders.

My point is that dooming on the state of Evrima right now (Which I understand isn't the greatest right now) isn't going to stay the same. These issues will be improved upon and new potentially smaller/bigger issues will arise.

Enjoy what you have now because it could be a lot worse.

My server is absolutely not botted. I would close the server entirely long before I would be so dishonest as to bot numbers to boost population. It's a place for the community, the servers that bot numbers do so to trick people in so they can scam them into buying grows and playing their crappy gambling games(running the server is more about making money to them than providing a place for the community to escape the problems occurring on official servers).
That, and I'm so technologically challenged that I can't even figure out how to make a basic discord-to-server bot to show how many players are online and send RCON messages from discord work, much less one that lies about population.

Statistically speaking, players tend to hide much more than they move in the open. I spend good chunks of time flying over the server just people watching and a significant portion of the time, people walk right by each other without ever realizing it because they're hiding.
North East has begun to repopulate on my server, Delta is always popular, water access has netted some really interesting run-ins, and highland sanctuary is probably the most chaotic place on the server.
If you're struggling to find people, check the VCs in the discord sitting peak hours, that'll give you an idea of the larger groups moving around the server (and is a nice place to find others of your species to meet up with as long as their group isn't full).
