I would ditch the procedural pathfinding of the large fish that basically makes the float in the air under water but water is fake so they can pathfind their way into the air.
Since they are beyond and out of the code layer that allows players to swim for instance

If you give near them they increase speed and swim faster but still sticking on the path navigating towards path nodes just like cars do in open world games

This way you won't have flying fish

It probably will be but whenever we are gonna do something new/different like that, we still need to cover our bases in case it doesn't work out. So better to have the stuff and not need it than need it and not have it in that regard. Especially if it's not something that takes forever or isn't in high volume.

I prefer to keep the animation team in perpetual forward motion. I don't like them bouncing back and forth creating new things for old playables as much as I can help it. Cause it's better for us to work on a creature all at once and be done with it than to yo-yo back and forth. Because we build a relationship with the rigs. So if too much time passes, it can sometimes take a second to "relearn" the rig. Which eats into our timetable. It's still gonna happen from time to time but I like to keep it to a minimum as much as I can. So the nest building for camara is there in case we want to use it. Even if it doesn't technically "build a nest".

no, a bit more gritty. about as gorey/dark as the isle is expected to be later on, and moreso focused on scavenging and looting old buildings on the island rather than building up and taming the animals

They’re not peashooters, I mainly like the way the gun handles when near walls, it’s good at representing guns as actual objects, rather than an extension of the player
