you might have done this already but can you run dxdiag.exe to check what level of directx hardware support your graphics card supports:

you run dxdiag.exe from the windows start/search (Press the windows key (or press "Windows key" + "R")) ... select the display tab ... on the right hand side look for where it says feature levels ... check if it supports 12_1, 12_0 and not just 11_1, 11_0, 10_1, 10_0, 9_3, 9_2, 9_1, 9_0 etc ... you can also see what graphics driver version/date you are running just above it

run winver.exe from the windows start/search to see what version of windows 10 or 11 you are running ... eg. mine is running Windows 10 22H2 and is up to date on windows updates (Windows Start - Settings - Update & Security - Windows Update)

can you go into Windows Start - Settings - Update & Security - Windows Update - View update history and see what the last updates you have for windows - like does it show a recent .net framework update and recent cumulative updates say for the last week or so of January 2024

Is this fog normal? Happens constantly can barely see anything more than 50m away. Happens every night time too gets so dark you can barely see 20m.

Reset graphics, deleted the appdata saved folder to reset everything. Done integrity check. Not sure what to do to fix it.

I know there used to be issues with the Global Illumination setting that could cause this behaviour but i've tried every option and they all produce the same image.

on my windows 11 install i am running 23H2 and on windows 10 it is 22H2 - check update history - no outstanding updates as mentioned

my windows 11 wasn't offering me 23H2 so i was still on 21H2 (older windows 11 version) so recently i did an in-place upgrade (ran setup.exe from the 23H2 iso installed to usb flash drive) from within windows 11 and chose to keep my files and folders) using the latest 23H2 iso from microsoft
(nb. i backed up all my important data first to offline storage before doing the in-place upgrade)

I just randomly DC'd from the server I was in (NA 6) and when I rejoined literally 10 seconds later I lost my 65ish% deino. I clipped it, can I show this to an admin to get my Deino back?

The server was also dead so it wasn't another player. This has happened several times where the game randomly deletes player dinos when they try rejoining after a disconnect.

This actually did help. I changed Shadows / Effects / Textures / Materials all to High and it has made the night less dark. Weirdly if you change them to Medium or Epic the game is darker? Very odd.

This is a bug that normally only rarely occurs, it was fixed a couple month back were it was really frequent, but can still happen occasionally today unfortunatley. If you witness a missing character, exit the game immediately. Don't create a new character. That way you might restore it upon relogging.
Since I didn't catch it being reported on a grand scheme, I can't tell you if it got more common or if this is just very unlucky on your side. I'll keep monitoring it and pass it on to the developers if needed.

your antivirus has blocked the isle game ... you need to check in your antivirus quarantine and add exception for the isle game

some people are getting isle files blocked by their antivirus since recent updates ... so they had to go to their antivirus quarantine and check if isle files were in there and take them out of quarantine ... and also they added an exception in their antivirus for the isle game .exe and even the whole The Isle installation path ... some may have also deleted The Isle game folder afterwards so it would reinstall when they ran steam again

If you are experiencing issues with your controls since the latest update (can't move camera, unable to court, etc) then please try wiping your config files in localappdata.

1. If running The Isle, exit the game.
2. Press the Windows key
3. Type %localappdata% then press Enter.
4. Find "TheIsle" folder. Open it.
5. Open the "Saved" folder.
6. Delete the "Config" folder. Note: This will reset any of your custom settings to their defaults.
7. Restart the game. The issues should be fixed.

hey i've got an issue on evrima,,, essentially there's this thick night time fog that sticks around with and without night vision on, and it's really distracting for me personally. i tried turning ambient occlusion off, and it worked briefly, but once i died and respawned it came back (thus why i'm posting this problem again after deleting it a few minutes ago, i thought i'd fixed it but it came back haha)

that launch error you had is often caused by an antivirus software blocking/quarantining the isle game .exe file as it thinks it is a virus or potential risk ... so the antivirus software 'locks' it away in its virus vault/quarantine

this might have interrupted the download? or it might still be blocked by the antivirus until you remove it (add exception) from the antivirus quarantine/vault and maybe also add an exception for the isle game folder in the antivirus ui menu

add exception to your antivirus for the isle game folder or at least an exception for the isle game .exe located in '...\Steam\steamapps\common\The Isle\TheIsle\Binaries\Win64\TheIsleClient-Win64-Shipping.exe' and then possibly need to reinstall/verify the game

• after adding exception to your antivirus for the isle you may need to delete the 'The Isle' game folder from where it is installed (right click on the isle in steam - properties - installed files - browse to find the location where the game is installed which will open as a File Explorer window in the background in the taskbar) and then maybe restart your pc/laptop then back into windows and run steam again and see if it successfully downloads the game again

you can run dxdiag.exe from the windows start/search (Press the windows key (or press "Windows key" + "R")) ... select the display tab ... on the right hand side look for where it says feature levels ... check if it supports 12_1, 12_0 and not just 11_1, 11_0, 10_1, 10_0, 9_3, 9_2, 9_1, 9_0 etc ...

you can also see what graphics driver version/date you are running just above it

u could try delete or rename TheIsle folder in appdata so it gets recreated when you run the game again?

1.) If running 'The Isle', exit the game.

is it just something outside of the game's control ie. the clients ping/location, router/modem, isp connection/plan and normal connection issues over the internet that can occur are hard to avoid, traffic congestion, poorly functioning switch along the packets route, clients hardware setup - pc/laptop capabilities - router/modem/wireless vs wired, drivers/software eg. antivirus, firewall, malware/spyware, no. of apps loaded/running, excessive windows services running that can add delay (like Microsoft Windows Customer Experience Program which i opt out of and disable/turn off - it uses up systems resources with all its constant scanning of your system in the background) , unnecessary apps/bloatware loading at windows startup, antivirus being set to high sensitivity and multi antivirus realtime scanners enabled/running ...

Herrera pounce only works on AI boars. I've gone onto pvp practice servers, and pounced omnis, stegos, dilos, tenos, carnos and gallis, and not one of them got stunned or took any damage from the pounce. Instead, I'd hit the ground, get stunned myself, depending how high up I was, and then get obliterated by the other dino. Please fix this, it makes it impossible to survive as a Herrera.

If theres anybody who gets it to work, can they tell me exactly how they pounce? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong.

i have notified valve steam support of what seems to be a bug in their recent steam client update where the steam client is constantly multiple times every second (relentlessly) the entire time while the steam client is open/running it is trying to create/access two files related to VR but they don't exist ... i don't even have VR so i assume this is probably a problem with every install of the steam client for everyone - waiting to hear back from them and hopefully they patch it with a steam client update

• i first reinstalled the latest steam client from their steam about webpage on different windows 11 and windows 10 installations on 3 different pc's and then tried their latest steam beta but the bug still exists ... on an old steam client on a spare pc the bug does not exist

update: valve steam support replied that they received the screenshots i sent them and details and will let me know after they investigate further

20240213 - steam support says they have forwarded it to the steam client devs but they still have not offered a fix so i have posted in the steam forums (as steam support advised me to do) about this but not many replies ... i do believe it is a bug in the steam client (some code doing a VR hardware check related to SteamVR/OpenVR?) that they will fix in a future steam client update but they just haven't acknowledged it yet

anyone interested can look to see if their steam client is trying to create/access the following two non existent files multiple times a second for every second the steam client is open/running whether at the steam menu or in the background while ingame ... till the steam client is closed.

Hello, ive been having this issue for a couple days now where when i join only one specific server (Islander semi realism) i get a blackscreen after joining. i shortly see the screen the attached image then the screen blacks out and i cant open any menus or do anything at all. Ive tried reinstalling the game checking for corrupted data and ive tried like 5 different "fixes" from the internet. Every other server i join im fine on even other custom servers. If you are experiencing issues with your controls since the latest update (can't move camera, unable to court, etc) then please try wiping your config files in localappdata.

• run dxdiag.exe from the windows start/search ... select the display tab ... on the right hand side look for where it says feature levels ... check if it supports 12_1, 12_0 and not just 11_1, 11_0, 10_1, 10_0, 9_3, 9_2, 9_1, 9_0 etc ...

you can also see what graphics driver version/date you are running just above it.

in that screenshot you posted originally ... can you please redo that screenshot but scroll to the right so can see the rest of the error ... i had a very similar error like that on my window 11 (running latest win 11 version 23H2) install just after the herrera/dilo update something about mismatched file sizes but i completed a windows cumulative preview update that was in the optional windows updates and then rebooted and then ran the game fine after that

also make sure antivirus or firewall is not blocking any of the isle game files or steam - check the antivirus quarantine

seems like it has onboard graphics - Integrated Intel® HD Graphics 2500 so you would be unable to run the isle evrima using this integrated graphics chip on the motherboard

it also talks about the power supply being 320w which would be very low power wattage to run any sort of discrete graphics except a very low end graphics card ...

so you were running the latest isle evrima public branch (steam - right click - properties - betas - evrima public branch) and now it is not running?

can you run dxdiag.exe from the windows start/search ... select the display tab ... on the right hand side look for where it says feature levels ... check if it supports 12_1, 12_0 and not just 11_1, 11_0, 10_1, 10_0, 9_3, 9_2, 9_1, 9_0 etc ...

you can also see what graphics driver version/date you are running just above it ... maybe try installing the latest graphics driver for your nvidia or amd graphics card

hey, does anyone know why do "fatal error" crashes keep appearing?

i constantly crash when playing herrera and eating boar (specifically), which causes my dino to keep eating and i come back to vomit sickness, empty water and food meters. surprisingly, vomit sickness disappears after i rejoin the game.

Got an interesting one for you!

When I launch the game (Not always but more than 80% of the time) my computer just restarts completely. (Black screen and then windows turns on)

Now I've tried turning off "fast boot" in BIOS and Verify integrity of game files but to no avail.

I know that it's The Isle causing this because when I try to replicate launching other games or EXEs it does not happen.

Also I've ran a GPU Benchmarked "Superposition" and Cinebench (Both at the same time too) to stress test the computer to see if it's a power fault but again to no avail!

If you have a theory then please let me know! :P.

if you think you are having general hardware issues something to possibly check is if there are any newer chipset drivers for your motherboard/laptop? is your windows completely up to date (latest windows versions: win11 is on 23H2 and win10 is 22H2) - check optional updates as well ...

another possible more rarer thing would be a bios/firmware issue but you would to have research your bios and see if there have been any updates from the manufacturer ... also bios/firmware updates can be risky so i'm not advising that ... but just something to investigate with the manufacturers website ... also in the bios maybe disable any overclocking of the ram (xmp profiles etc) ... like set it to the default ram speed maybe?

u could also look in event viewer (run eventvwr.msc from search/run box) at the windows logs - application and system ... see what events/errors have been happening ... also you could do some drive error checking scans? right click a partition/drive in file explorer - tools - check button - scan drive (the results of the scan/chkdsk will also show in the application log in event viewer)

just to double check you have tried deleting or renaming theisle folder in appdata ...

1.) If running The Isle, exit the game.
2.) Press the windows key (or press "Windows key" + "R")
3.) Type %localappdata% then press Enter. (make sure you're really in Appdata -> local, and not in Appdata -> Roaming!)
4.) Find the TheIsle folder. Delete it.
5) The isle game will recreate the folder with default settings when you run it next

• you will lose your custom skins and other custom graphics/keyboard settings but if you rename theisle folder in appdata you can still access the renamed folder later if you need to for some reason

• you could also try reinstalling easy anti-cheat just in case: #🔧-evrima-troubleshooting-🔧 message

I have this issue where when I tested out the hoardtesting branch then swapped back to evrima, my evrima gameplay goes through stutter (freezing for a second then resuming)

This issue never persisted prior to my hoardtesting branch swap

I have tried removing all files associated with the isle after uninstallation then re-installing to no avail.

Made sure my drivers were up to date including my gpu drivers and bios

Checked to see if there were any issues with system files with sfc scan, files were not corrupt

Went back to hoardtesting to see if i could replicate the same stuttering that I had on evrima, which hoardtesting ran fine.

If anyone has any solutions, help would be appreciated

Here is what I did from the beginning: reset the C disk where Windows is, empty the RAM memory, then delete the game in its directory, then go to Steam and click on uninstall, then reinstall the game .thanks you and @vapid depot for the help.

check your antivirus quarantine in case it has placed some isle game files there and put a block on them ... you might have to verify or reinstall the isle after that ... you could also add an exception for the isle game folder in your antivirus
