Usually it will prompt me to allow EAC to make changes 2-5 times before telling me the app is already running

For the "steam an error occurred while updating (app running)"-Error you could try closing the werfault.exe, wermgr.exe and maybe the SteamOverlayUI.exe (The first two are windows applications that appear when something crashed and Windows is still searching a solution for in the background)
Though if it happens always because of EAC I'm not sure if it will help ):
I saw you said you deleted the openXR, do you have any other VR applications installed ? like the occulus app

Okay, Evrima has been installed again. First attempt to launch the game prompted me to let EAC make changes to my computer. EAC splash screen opened and initialized, followed by the isle splash. I then got the (app is running) issue

Try going to the correct server channel (so #evrima-eu , #evrima-na ...) and ping the "Official server admin" role.
And tell them your in-game name + your specific server.

If you don't get an answer in a few min or if your dino is low on water/food, it might be the best to log out for now and wait for a respons.

Did you uninstall completly from hand before ?

A re/un-install from hand can sometimes help with certain issues were a normal uninstall over steam doesn't work.
Some files "survive" if you uninstall a game over steam, therefore this might help.
For a complete uninstall do these 2 steps:

1.) Deleting your Steam game files:

• Right Click The Isle in your steam library
• Select Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files
• Delete everything inside of The Isle’s folder.

2.) Deleting your Local game files

• Press "Windows key" (or "Windows key" + "R" if that doesn't work)
• Type in "%localappdata% and click 'Ok'.
• Search for TheIsle folder.
• Delete the TheIsle folder once you've found it.

Now you can re-install the game over Steam, like normal.

I think I found the root of the problem

So I installed legacy version again and found that the steam_appid.txt file was in the wrong location. It was in the very first folder. It should have been in TheIsle>Binaries>Win64
Upon putting it there, legacy version worked again

Now I have Evrima installed again

1. Type in CMD on your windows search through your computer.
2. Right click Command Prompt
3. Click Run as Admin. It'll open a black weird box
4. Type ipconfig /flushdns
5. Hit enter
6. Type netsh winsock reset
7. Hit enter
8. Reboot your computer
9. Open up The Isle

A reason for this issue could be that a file called steam_appid.txt got installed in the wrong location.
Go to your game files:

• Right Click The Isle in your steam library
• Select Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files
  and check if that's where the steam_appid.txt is.

If you find the file there, put it in the:
TheIsle -> Binaries -> Win64 folder

Hopefully that fixed it for you.
(You could also try and just create that file yourself, all you need to do is go to that folder
and create an text file with the number "376210" inside of it)

6. Open the "Saved" folder.

8. Restart the game. The issue should be fixed.

hm, if none of those fixes helped you could try deleting the "EasyAntiCheat.sys"(maybe "EasyAntiCheat_EOS.sys" for you) file.

It's default path should be in "C: -> Programs(x86) -> EasyAntiCheat_EOS",

• Go there and delete the .sys file
• Then, go to your games folder and delete the EAC folder
• Verify your game files over steam
• Unintall and install Easy-Anti-Cheat over their .bat files again (Feel free to ask if you don't know how)

I didn't even get to play. I ran the isle legacy, it worked fine but I removed it after 5 minutes to put on Evrima.

Evrima never worked and when I put Legacy on, I get a "Steam Subsystem Failure" error.

The 2 hours of gameplay I have is just me running the game trying different tricks I found on the internet.

People getting this Screen instead of the main menu (not my picture), but you can still hear and click on the menu points.
And if you get to the Server selection screen it can't find any servers

I don't think we ever found a real fix for this ):

1.) Update your Graphic card drivers and see if you have a Windows update
2.) Verify your game files
3.) Adding a Firewall exclusion for the game Folder:
"Choose Start > Control Panel. Click Security, and then in the Windows Firewall section, click Allow A Program Through Windows Firewall. Click Add Program on the Exceptions tab"
4.) Try running the game as Administrator.
5.) Swapping to Legacy and back

Else I'm not entirely sure what to try >.< It could be worth checking if it's related to VR-Applications.
So if you have any VR-Programms like OpenXR or the Occulus App it could be worth trying to disable them.

If you are experiencing issues with your controls since the latest update (can't move camera, unable to court, Night Vision not working , etc) then please try wiping your config files in localappdata.

1. If running The Isle, exit the game.
2. Open File Explorer.
3. Click the address bar at the top.
4. Type %localappdata% then press Enter.
5. Find "TheIsle" folder. Open it.
6. Open the "Saved" folder.
7. Delete the "Config" folder. Note: This will reset any of your custom settings to their defaults.
8. Restart the game. The issue should be fixed.

Can also try pairing with someone else, both safelog and pair again

1.) If running The Isle, exit the game.
2.) Press the windows key (or press "Windows key" + "R")
3.) Type %localappdata% then press Enter. (make sure you're really in Appdata -> local, and not in Appdata -> Roaming!)
4.) Find the TheIsle folder. Open it.
5.) Open the Saved folder, and go into the Config folder.
6.) Open the WindowsClient folder.
7.) Delete the Input.ini file (for you it might be called Input)
8.) Restart the game.

For those with that "Easy Anti-Cheat is not installed" issue, there are some steps you can do to solve it

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Isle"

there is a file called InstallAntiCheat.bat, just run it and try running the game again.

Go to the game folder. Right click game in steam, properties, local files, browse.
Should send you here: steamapps\common\The Isle

Delete EasyAntiCheat folder.
Then Verify intergrity of game files.

After this the game should download an insignificant small amount of files.
Run the game, now it installs EasyAntiCheat for you.

If you're stuck you can try going to the correct server channel (so #evrima-eu , #evrima-na ...) and ping the "Official server admin" role. Tell them your in-game name + your specific server, so they can unstuck you.

Though all Official server admins are volunteers, and might not always be available >.<
If you don't get an answer in a few min or if your dino is low on water/food, it might be the best to log out for now and wait for a respons.

Though if they have a seperate Anti-virus they'd have to do it there too

if none of the above works, you could also try a manual uninstall!

A re/un-install from hand can sometimes help with certain issues were a normal uninstall over steam doesn't work.
Some files "survive" if you uninstall a game over steam, therefore this might help.
For a complete uninstall do these 2 steps:

1.) Deleting your Steam game files:

• Right Click The Isle in your steam library
• Select Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files
• Delete everything inside of The Isle’s folder.

2.) Deleting your Local game files

• Press "Windows key" (or "Windows key" + "R" if that doesn't work)
• Type in "%localappdata% and click 'Ok'.
• Search for TheIsle folder.
• Delete the TheIsle folder once you've found it.

Now you can re-install the game over Steam, like normal.

Hey, so when I opened Evirma, there is this completely weird glitch. The loading screen will boot up then it goes to a black screen, the only way to fix it is by pressing my windows button. this also makes my cursor look like it's flickering on the screen. They are trying to fix it. Said it would be done shortly. They are having issues with the server and so by doing this preventing future problems. It’s hard to run these servers, plus if it is gone then it’s a Utah. Takes an hour to grow. No fret :3
