I downloaded The Isle Evrima today but when I clicked play in my steam library it pops up, loads, but then I get an error saying easy anti cheat is not installed what should I do?

Isnt easy anti cheat installed along the game? Cause thats how I experienced it in other games. Or should I download it from somewhere else?

I tried everything.

The Issue is where anticheat is starting and the error after "Initialising" is: "eac is not installed"
After I start "EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe", it starts and closes immediately. I can only see a little bar in the Taskbar, and it disappears after a millisecond.

The Skripts in the game folder "InstallAntiCheat" and "UninstallAntiCheat" have the same problem.

Every other EAC Game, like "War Thunder" or "Post Skriptum", dont have any Problems.

I have a fresh PC and Windows 22H2 version.
All drivers, Including nvidia, are up to date.
I tried all EAC solving solutions, like replacing the exe with the current version.

hmm, try deleting the "EasyAntiCheat.sys"(maybe "EasyAntiCheat_EOS.sys" for you) file.

It's default path should be in "C: -> Programs(x86) -> EasyAntiCheat_EOS",

• Go there and delete the .sys file
• Then, go to your games folder and delete the EAC folder
• Verify your game files over steam
• Unintall and install Easy-Anti-Cheat over their .bat files again (Feel free to ask if you don't know how)

Try going to the correct server channel (so #evrima-eu , #evrima-na ...) and ping the "Official server admin" role.
Also tell them your in-game name + your specific server.

If you don't get an answer in a few min or if your dino is low on water/food, it might be the best to log out for now and wait for a respons.

It’s how the Isle handles level of detail (LOD). Nothing you can do to change that unfortunately, however it is something being fixed for the future.

If you are experiencing issues with your controls since the latest update (can't move camera, unable to court, etc) then please try wiping your config files in localappdata.

1. If running The Isle, exit the game.
2. Press the Windows key
3. Type %localappdata% then press Enter.
4. Find "TheIsle" folder. Open it.
5. Open the "Saved" folder.
6. Delete the "Config" folder. Note: This will reset any of your custom settings to their defaults.
7. Restart the game. The issues should be fixed.

so trying to figure out where the bug is if it's one at all. basically several days ago I nested as a teno, one of the offspring from that batch is still alive. my original teno died. I've had several respawns since then. today our group is trying to nest. can't seem to pair with that teno, n is doing nothing. we both tried logging and coming back. no others are currently available to test if pairing works with other tenos. for what it's worth, I am using the same skin as the one that is that teno's father, but it is a completely different iteration. is this teno still somehow counted as that teno's father despite being like 3 iterations separate, or is this a bug?

Having some trouble playing evrima.
Context: I can launch the game, but on the start menu I can’t select any options like “start” “settings” and so on, only if I hover over a choice really long will it be “lit up” but I can’t select it (so I can’t press play or anything)
What I have tried: verified my files through Steam, uninstall and reinstall my anti cheat, uninstall and reinstall the entire game, restart the game, restart my PC, launch from GeForce Experience instead of Steam, launch from Icon on Desktop, launch from the game files themselves, and do this step by step thing that another user recommended to someone with the same problem as I have.
Nothing seems to work, and I just wanna be a dinosaur so please help me!

A shot in the dark there but try pressing F11. It may be a problem with the resolution of your screen. F11 will force the game in windowed mode and from there you should be able to go to the settings to select the right resolution for your monitor. Also change window mode to ”window full screen” once you're in settings.

Normally you should be able to nest. Having the same skin of this teno's father shouldn't change anything, as you are a completely unrelated teno.

yep first thing I checked. so sounds like it probably is a bug then. our other friend's theory was that since they still have the same teno it's for some reason still recognizing me as being the father even though I have a different teno, but we've got no way to confirm that theory since as far as any of us know there's no way to actually check a dino's recorded lineage

No it's not possible. Probably have to wait until GFN supports beta branches or until Evrima becomes main branch. Someone suggested to look for other cloud-gaming platforms but they might not be free-to-use like GFN is.

There is more you can do. I believe one of the pinned messages explains it. Delete the %appdata% isle folder, the isle folder in the steam common folder. I can’t explain it very well at the moment.

Steam uninstall doesn't uninstall everything, it keeps some files for future reinstall. As FuriousSmaug said, delete the Isle folder in %localappdata% (type that in your Windows search bar) and delete the Isle folder in the Steam folder.

Looks like a problem due to changing your keyboard layout. If you have different keyboard layouts make sure to deactivate the shortcut in Windows settings > Time and language > Language > Keyboard > Entry language shortcut (or similar, my Windows is not in English).
The default shortcut is normally Alt + Shift, so if you freelook while running, it can make your PC change the keyboard layout and it gives exactly those issues you described.

@woeful fulcrum @cedar heath @wild sequoia When you get stuck, you need to go to your server location channel such as #evrima-eu #evrima-na etc., ping the official server admin role and give them your in-game name and what exact server you are on. If you are low on food/water, log out (if safe-log not possible, just quick-log) and get back in once an admin has notified you they will come unstuck you.

Can anyone plz share how a new entry level (Baby) Utha can live starting out, other than relying on other dino's killing for it. It starts out where it can't smell, so it can't hunt, AI out run it except for boars but it's a 1 tap and dead Utha. Even if you did latch on to the boar and bite until stam runs out, the boar won't bleed out, deer won't bleed out if you do some how latch on to it. Oh why have couch if it doesn't have a use! (crouching in tall grass to get closer to AI is no different if you walked or ran up to it) Can't find chickens because remember you can't smell in order to hunt. Really a huge let down. Been testing it in empty Official servers for hours. Not one has made it without the aid of another dino!

Utahs and Pteras get sick from eating others of their species, one of the debuffs is randomly attacking.
infertility is another one for example.
Herbivores can get a similiar disease from eating Mushrooms, only hypsis can eat those.

It should go away in 15-20min, depending on how much you ate.

Yep. Evrima is still in development and the performance is not that great. The devs have stated not wanting to spend time on fixing it just for it to be destroyed again at the next update, so we will have to wait to see real improvement. Though, if your fps drops are really that severe, you might want to check your specs, since Evrima is quite demanding.

Try installing Legacy and then switch back to Evrima. I had the same issue and it's the only thing that fixed it for me. It seems like Evrima doesn't automatically download the necessary files for Easy Anti Cheat, but Legacy does. So first installing Legacy and then switching to the beta branch ensures that you have all the necessary files for EAC to work as intended.

My GPU is an AMD rx 560 4GB ram and my PC has 16gb ram I think my CPU is a E5 something idk

I have a friend who runs it fine with very similar pc specs then me but there graphics card is a gtx 1050 TI which they say runs evrima runs average

Seems plausible to me. As we said Evrima is badly optimised so old/low-end systems are struggling. If your i5 is a couple generations old (which it surely is) it's not surprising that you have very poor performances. Especially that a RX 560 is low too. I had a AMD FX CPU and a GTX 1050 before, same performance as a RX 560. I couldn't play Evrima, so I decided to build an entire new system. There's not much you can do apart from that.

If you are experiencing issues with your controls since the latest update (can't move camera, unable to court, etc) then please try wiping your config files in localappdata.

1. If running The Isle, exit the game.
2. Press the Windows key
3. Type %localappdata% then press Enter.
4. Find "TheIsle" folder. Open it.
5. Open the "Saved" folder.
6. Delete the "Config" folder. Note: This will reset any of your custom settings to their defaults.
7. Restart the game. The issues should be fixed.

That's a bug that can happen, you should be able to solve it over this, it resets all your keybindings to default:

I know 3 people managed to fix a similiar issue to this over reinstalling their Windows. They were indefinietly stuck in the splash-art though and it didn't close.

Though if nothing really works, you can try to "plead" your case, Steam policy is indeed that it only allows 2 hours or less to be refunded but you can still try it. To cite the official steam support site:

"Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any title that is requested within 14 days of purchase and has been played for less than 2 hours. Even if you fall outside of the refund rules we've described, you can submit a request and we'll take a look at it."

What fixes have you tried yet? Have you installed a software or something has changed with your computer recently, when you started to get this error? Normally this is indeed the message one gets when the server restarts or crashes. Have you tried making sure the game is allowed by your firewall, antivirus and this kind of things?
If you have tried everything, I would advise you to contact Punch personally...
I noticed some issues with the game myself about one week ago as well (longer black screen when starting the game and servers taking some time to appear), so perhaps they have changed something in the game files that could have provoked issues.

Can someone help me? I have to try to fix this App Configuration Not Enabled thing ONLY for The Isle, and it happens almost everyday. Why? Why is it just that game? How do I get it to stop happening? It will result in the game re-installing EVERYDAY, and it enables Legacy, so every time I want to play this game, I have to re-install EVRIMA and take an extra 15 min out of my time to even start struggling to get into a server

App Configuration errors are usually caused when updates or dlcs (or betas) are added to a game and you try to download them. A certain file sometimes says "that's not right" and will not allow the user to play the game. Go here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\appcache\ and delete the appinfo.vdf and see if that fixes your issues.

Yeah, that's the action I have to do every time I want to play the game. Additionally, it will sometimes revert itself back to Legacy upon opening Steam -- so if it's not something that I catch, it'll go to Legacy and I'll have to re-install EVRIMA after deleting the file. WHY does it do this so often, how do I get it to NOT do this, and is this even something I can change on my end? The Isle is the only game that's like this, so I have to think it's the dev team fiddling with things, or something was drastically changed with updated 5, which is when this problem started. It started like, the week that update 5 dropped and has been happening ever since.

There shouldn't be this many steps to just launching the game :/

And for me, it's not when they make updates. hm ): That is a difficult issue sadly >.< Try the following ideas:

First check if your Firewall is blocking EAC. Add a firewall exclusion for the Steam Game folder like this (for Win10):
"Choose Start > Control Panel. Click Security, and then in the Windows Firewall section, click Allow A Program Through Windows Firewall. Click Add Program on the Exceptions tab"

If you're using another Anti-Virus program make also sure that one isn't blocking the game or EAC.

Else you could try a complete re-install first, like this:

A re/un-install from hand can sometimes help with certain issues were a normal uninstall over steam doesn't work.
Some files "survive" if you uninstall a game over steam, therefore this might help.
For a complete uninstall do these 2 steps:

1.) Deleting your Steam game files:

• Right Click The Isle in your steam library
• Select Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files
• Delete everything inside of The Isle’s folder.

2.) Deleting your Local game files

• Press "Windows key" (or "Windows key" + "R" if that doesn't work)
• Type in "%localappdata% and click 'Ok'.
• Search for TheIsle folder.
• Delete the TheIsle folder once you've found it.

Now you can re-install the game over Steam, like normal.

If that doesn't work either you could try switching to Legacy and then back again, that could help.

If none of the above ideas worked I'm not sure what else to try ):
I know that some people were able to solve that Problem over Reinstalling Windows, but I understand that that might be too much work for just one game >.<
(though Apperantly it's rather easy on Win11 ? At least I heard that)

Ah, I might have an idea if you get that Error. Just an idea though >.<

Try deleting the "EasyAntiCheat.sys"(maybe "EasyAntiCheat_EOS.sys" for you) file.

It's default path should be in "C: -> Programs(x86) -> EasyAntiCheat_EOS",

• Go there and delete the .sys file
• Then, go to your games folder and delete the EAC folder
• Verify your game files over steam
• Unintall and install Easy-Anti-Cheat over their .bat files again (Feel free to ask if you don't know how)

man it really sucks. I finally got back into the Isle after a very long break since Evrima came out and now I can't even play. How long have you been dealing with this issue for?

51 days lol. I have 340 hrs in evrima...took a month break. added a 3090 ti. and 64 gbs ram. then came back and wont launch. There are way to many people for me to accept its something on my end. they are clearly doing something different than the other 300 games I have on steam. So when i want to play I come here and look for new posts of someone saying they fixed it. So if you do fix it let people know if it was something dif.

I'm currently looking on the steam community pages for troubleshooting and have found a whole horde of people facing the same/similar issues. With nobody able to come up with any fixes. The one that seems to work for people is the vcrun fix? have you tried that?

Yeah! if they're online.
Try going to the correct server channel (so #evrima-eu , #evrima-na ...) and ping the "Official server admin" role.
Also tell them your in-game name + your specific server.

If you don't get an answer in a few min or if your dino is low on water/food, it might be the best to log out for now and wait for a respons.

I've tried all of them as well as clearing steam download cache, trying to launch the game in windowed and windowed -w 1024 but it's all just resulting in the same results

That was going to be my first suggestion running in windowed. Have you tried running the game as administrator?

Also, do you have multiple hard drives by any chance? For me my game will get fatal errors if I don’t run the isle on my main SSD

"Try deleting the "EasyAntiCheat.sys"(maybe "EasyAntiCheat_EOS.sys" for you) file.

It's default path should be in "C: -> Programs(x86) -> EasyAntiCheat_EOS",

• Go there and delete the .sys file
• Then, go to your games folder and delete the EAC folder
• Verify your game files over steam
• Unintall and install Easy-Anti-Cheat over their .bat files again (Feel free to ask if you don't know how)"

You should be able to fix the EAC is not installed in pinned messages. There’s like 4 or 5 solutions, Krow’s post has several.

Swimming, falling a tiny bit, spamming Q, are all ways you can fix it
(Spamming Q doesn't always work, the other 2 are a sure way)

It has to be an anti cheat issue right? because the loading time on my anti cheat never used to be as long as it is now. I used to start up the game and it would never take so long, it says initializing and then, waiting for game

yup, im just eliminating problems till i find the fix. i may install on my other pc and see if that works then try and find the difference. feels like its something to do with the exe file and its just not launching it.

Not necessarily. It could be ram or graphics related (which is why I asked for specs). Occasional it’s the firewall or an issue with the files. So many factors, so many possible solutions, yet no reliable ones 😭

1.) Open the Command Prompt as an administrator
2.) Enter the command: services.msc
3.) Locate Easy Anti-Cheat within the list and double-click it
4.) Change ‘Startup Type’ to ‘Manual’
5.) Save the changes

My boyfriend just installed evrima and his screen looks normal aside from the fact that to press any buttons he has to go off to the side where there arent any buttons and just press around until he hits the invisibuttons? (in the red is the only place he can press play or settings or anything like that)

Okay, fix number 7 million.

Go to the Isle's folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Isle). Click on it and go to the EasyAntiCheat folders. There should be a settings document. Click on that. Look for "wait_for_game_process_exit" : "0". Change the 0 to a 1. Try launching then.
