i was thinking of an intimidating encounter with a deinosuchus or whatever crocodilian lived with spinosaurus at the time, basically the spinosaurus trying to fish out something and then, instead of a fish, a crocodile jumps out of the water and bites his jaw brutally, not letting go off it and eventually breaking it off

I feel as if those broken jaw Dinos are very strange and I can’t take the look seriously

Crocs usually only have injuries like that when caused by gunfire

And even then dinosaur skulls are generally more robust than those of crocs

I feel like to approach broken jaw properly maybe look at more animals than crocodiles

As weirdly anthropomorphized as Dino Revolution was

Crocs can loose parts of their jaw to other crocs not just gunfire. I feel like it's not that uncommon. The animal just likely won't survive

Yes but all of those models are relatively new, velo has had the same model for a LONG time, most creatures that have had their model for as long as it did get a remodel

Also both para and rex were survival dinosaurs, they haven’t added any legacy dinosaurs that weren’t in survival into evrima so we don’t know what’d happen to them

I’m honestly tired of hearing the “artistic liberty” argument because it’s genuinely not a good argument. You can create dynamic poses and add character charm without breaking skeletons and the laws of nature. A lot of artists do this.
It’s detrimental because with the isle herrera design; what differentiates a herrera doing this pose from some random iguana? Absolutely nothing. If you show that picture to people who don’t know of the isle without any sort of caption their first thought would be “iguana”. My first thought was iguana.

I really am getting sick of this “constructive criticism bad, it’s just artistic liberty argument” because it doesn’t allow the artist to get better.

Awesome! So overall i think its super duper cute, the only real thing I have to say of significant note would probably be that the front paws should be rotated, so that the palm is against the tree --that is, if he's grasping the branch. If his limbs are just dangling, it's fine as is! Idk how many digits that critter has, but if its more than two, maybe make them visible a little ( like when you look at a hand with slightly bent fingers side on ) just to really drive home that gesture

I can't decide which version is my favourite, but if you went with the version where he's resting his head, I would recommend pushing his skin flush with the tree and adding some wrinkles where it folds or creases as he puts his weight on it!

While there are some hard facts we do know about dinos, some things are subjective, and also as a fellow artist, sometimes just making things look fun, unique, and "cool" is all part of the joy of art!

If you want a tail like that draw a lizard, not a dinosaur.

The Herrera’s tail in game would not work like that, either so at that point it ceases to be the isle herrera anyways.

And further more; saying it’s not how it would work would be better than me just saying the art is shit which I could have easily done. I am saying the art is shit, but from how you respond you’re definitely interpreting my words as that

If you're so pressed Toast's Herrera's tail isn't accurate to game representation, I beg you never to gaze upon a vast majority of the fanart for the isle posted on any site that allows image sharing. From anatomical tweaks to things merely looking different thanks to stylisation, to colour palettes and markings not present in game, you'll find a lot of fanartists like to add their own unique twists to their muses. It isn't my problem if you've got some sort of stick up your booty over how someone draws a tail

I'm sorry this is late, I would bring the front limb out on a straighter angle. Teno/iguanadon types are tricky because their asses are so high in the air so they always look a little wonky because we're not used to seeing that type of posture in modern day animals. It looks great though!

This thing is absolutely disgusting and I love it. Does this break any of the guidelines? For context its basically a genetic reject made purely as a trial and error of phoenix. Most often, hatching is used because it is material and has its own shadows and light, or to close dirty places in the image.
Use hatching on the lightest and sharpest places \ or on the darkest ones to show the volume of the object that you are drawing.
You can also close hatching places where there are a lot of folds (on the skin).
Since I draw works mostly without a contour, so hatching will be appropriate almost everywhere, the main thing is not to overdo it

im using ragdolls, you can right click on them with your context up and theres an automatic stand pose that you can use but i like to do mine manually cuz it opens up for more variety

i start by putting their tail into a natrual pose then following up with the rest of their body

if you use your physics gun you can right click and freeze certain parts of the ragdoll's body
