I FINALLY figured out a head design I like for T. ptera

I was gunna elongate the crest to make it sharper but it looked kinda Donk so I made it more aerodynamic to fit in with the “increased mobility” part of the strain

Yeah, I thought the original concept was lacking a bit as to what makes rugops interesting, so I gave my own interpretation on it. In this case being able to eat trash and digest it better than others. XD

You’re right! I just haven’t added the eyes quite yet since I’m still trying to figure out how I want em to look

Predators’ pupils actually depend on how low to the ground they are! The lower to the ground, the more likely they’ll have slit pupils

This is because slit pupils help with seeing through grass blades. It’s why domestic cats and small predators like foxes have slit pupils while big cats and larger predators have round

However since this guy is basically one big mutation, I might do that

For the offensive, the ptera could open their mouth and spray in a direct line. Defensive however could work differently! My idea was that when trying to escape from something, the ptera could spray the acid at a high velocity but have their mouth almost completely closed, resulting in it being sprayed out so fast that it would become almost a mist, like a cloud that would irritate the eyes and of their predator(s) and even potentially blind them

Im not quite sure yet, theres multiple types of teeth I want to try out

it can just have two slightly bigger fangs at the front

which fold in to the top of the mouth when it's not spitting, simple

Im tempted to do that, having the mist also work as a defense, but im not super sure if I want the ptera to have fangs or not

Raking teeth:
• Due to their speed they could rake off chunks and escape unharmed but risk getting snatched, though additional quills could prevent it
Long teeth:
• The folding teeth would allow a more aerodynamic face and could quickly zoom in, snatch n stab and get out with their prey without harm

I think I’ll do the long foldable and use the raking for another design! Since ptera can fly, while the raking is unique, it allows the quicker escape that the long teeth could work with

On your raptor, something that may make it feel fuller would be to add a bit of a shoulder line! If you prefer their shoulders to be a bit more hidden, you could do a small feather ridge almost to show a slight bit of depth

this is the result of painstaking work on the combination of many different techniques, including with a little addition of AI to generate some textures, but in the main part - handmade
I'm just a 3D artist, so I know how to do it

So u traced a utah lineart from a picture then handpainted it. Backgrounds are AI generated and the utah has some texture filter Photoshoped onto it (unless its a special texture brush).

No, the background is combined, the background was made mostly by hand. Stones - render through a filter and manual post-processing. Trees are redrawn from AI sources because that's how they look best. Utah is really copied from the source with a slightly changed pose, the scale brushes are made based on various noises

thank you :) and I love legacy isle's maps better than spiro. in general, i really miss how the game looked during the existence of the first iteration of v3. they messed around with the way shadows are rendered and just keep making the game more and more artistically bland in my opinion? back in the old old days the shadows used to be this intense blue, and the fog was super thick, you could take any random screenshot from the game and it would look absolutely stunning. they've since been getting rid of that and i just find the game to be lacking now. especially in how the maps are design, spiro is disastrously boring

Some light shading can go a long way, think about where your light source is at, try and replicate shadows using a fake sun you imagine or even a separate layer where you draw your source of light, and then hide it when you're done.

Hi ^^

I use a Huion art tablet, no screen I've had it for two years and I really enjoy it and think it works quite well. The pen pressure has always worked for me, and after i got a screen protector for it, have had no issues w/the drawing area getting damaged. It cost about 100? USD when bought new, but from what i know this particular tablet is done to like $80 something now (edit: Its apparently on a clearance sale, H610PRO V2)

Also recommend getting the art glove with it and extra nibs. Nibs last a good 3-4 months, but if you have a rascal of a cat 🥲 You loose them from time to time....

I had platypus in mind! Also the fact that Dino’s face’s probably would of been extremely sensitive. If you take in account for sense of smell etc, just like smaller dinosaurs like velociraptor and smaller avian dinosaurs who hunt smaller prey like insects etc it would make a-lot more sense for them to have some kind of whiskers or hairs on there chin/face. But whiskers are a trait that mammals have so I really doubt it. It would be so cute tho!

@sudden crown For you carno art, it’s awesome. But for any creature, building the skeletal structure then adding the muscular structure helps a lot. It takes more time, but it helps melts for proportions and getting my drawing scientifically /biologically correct.

Intrusive thoughts are thoughts you dont want there, hence why they are intrusive. They can be gross, inappropriate, scary and disgusting (describing the thoughts themselves, not the people having them)

Impulsive thoughts are doing things without thinking about the consequences, like you showed in your art

by all means, i do think the joke was funny- but getting intrusive and impulsive thoughts mixed up can be harmful XD /nm

In some of Tapwing’s tisso concepts, the creatures seem to have their vertebrae “visible” in a way
