Honestly in my opinion if you're new it's best to start as a herbivore, the map marks where your food is, and if you're about to starve you can eat grass. This can get you used to the map

if you're a fully new player, first welcome! Second, once your deino dies you may want to start with a small herbivore like dryosaurus, hypsilodon, that sort of thing. Deino's considered to be one of the hardest to find success with.

Smaller things generally grow faster (therefore when you die it doesn't suck so much) and herbivores have some guardrails to help keep you from starving (you can always scent food, and graze to prevent starvation). Carnivores need to hunt, which can be pretty tough while you're still learning (follow what sparks joy and all ofc, just some general tips. Bout to sign off myself or I'd offer to spawn you in with me to learn some ropes)

the problem im having atm, is trike stomps... i keep doing it even though i just lightly tap for a headbut.. i killed 2 sub rexes just hour ago.. but because i kept being inmobile they almost had me.. and when i practice the headbut out of combat.. it works like a charm 😛
