as merc, everything is "alien" to you, you have a general knolage of what the isle is but not all about the hooros that mingle in there, i think merc gameplay is gonna be the most terrifing and thrilling of them all, you are human, and weak, you relly on weapons as you cant really craft stuff, so yhea, i really think that for true game experience mercs are gonna be the best, and also for lore as you may probably not know shit or at least only the scrap ice of the huge ass iceberg of mistry the isle is

@summer bolt I’m not advocating for keeping stuff like trike and para as they are right now, I’d be fine with them being nerfed to hell power-wise and making them more reliant on large numbers and leaning more towards running from any combat scenario most of the time. I think it’s also important to remember that as they are now growing a trike isn’t really as easy as you make it out to be unless you’re being nested and nesting trikes are very rare. and if they are going to stay powerhouses then make them even slower and with poorer stamina management. with paras, maia, and diablo I can see where people have problems and have encountered some bullshit myself, albeit much more rarely than shit we had before, I ask that you think back to old V3 and V2 in 2016
I also believe that with the proposed affinity system the negative effects will further incentivize sticking with other herbivores because players that expose their dino to negative affinity (being in to large of groups or around dinosaurs they have negative affinity to) will turn albino eventually so you will know immediately what they’ve been up to. I think the problems with herbivores have way less impact than the problems we see with carnivores mix-packing
I hope dondi was referring to the tinnitus dinos will get when in proximity to stressful conditions instead of doing away with them outright

How do you determine if a carnivore isn’t just accidentally close to a herbivore, or if they are being followed by a herb that is faster than them for the lols, in my opinion there’s too many factors to try and control, so I’d be fine with herbs being shut off

@swift cliff have the herbivore affinity be negatively effected by the act of killing another dinosaur so the state of any herbivore that is murdering too much starts to decline. that's my proposed fix, they don't have any reason to kill stuff anyways so if you kill a bunch of stuff in rapid succession you can expect negative consequences. that will incentivize avoiding combat when you can.

You become albino if you stay at the lowest affinity for long enough. From what I've heard, if you die while albino then you spawn at the lowest affinity, but you won't be albino if you make an effort to raise your affinity

I think the affinity system will be fun though, it gives you something to do. Cause right now after you've gotten your food and water full, there isn't really much else to do beside grow, so the affinity system will probably give you some reason to move around
Right now the way i picture it is that every creature will like to be in a different area, some will like forests, some will like swamps, some will like redwoods, and some will like plains

I mean its a punishment for wrongdoing after all and by that it is more of a basic frame to keep everything in check and have the game play out like its supposed to. for everybody who already tries to play by the rules it doesn't seem to add a whole lot except reducing the amount of shittery you come across.
I mean good gameplay shouldn't evolve from the ruleset and potential punishment. Affinity doesn't seem to add a whole lot beyond that. thats not bad, but it doesn't seem like the proper way of inspiring interesting gameplay. there should be more beyond that.

Well, I mean. Dinos are animals. There's no much else to them, but filling their basic needs. All you can do to enrich their gameplay is to give them more needs, like, for example, being in a pack, in a forest, eating maia meat would make utah happier.
Even if you consider Isle dinos to be as intelegent as humans they still can't do much without opposable thumbs.
So If you want building, exploring tight spaces, lore unraveling and stuff like that then you gotta wait for humans and cannibals.
Pretty sure the main goal intended for dinosaurs in this game is to be intelegent and unpredictable monsters designed to hunt, spook and/or serve to these two other factions. Meaning that without them dino gameplay will remain an aimless meandering no matter what you do.
If you have other ideas or different opinions I would like to hear them though.
