try opening the command prompt as an administrator and running the following commands:

Then reboot your pc and test the server browser again

@wooden mural The answer to that question is most likely a no. The Isle is a pretty demanding game graphically, and a lot of lower-end machines that used to be able to just barely run it have been slowly getting left in the dust along the game's development. Ultimately it depends on the laptop itself and the hardware inside of it that will determine whether or not you can run it. If you want, you can get your system specs by following the instructions on a gif that's pinned in this channel I believe and post it here or send it to myself via DM's and I or someone else could probably tell you how you can expect it to handle, if at all, on the laptop.

#

AppData is a hidden folder so you will need to enable seeing it, which you can do from the View options in your file explorer

#

Once you do this, relaunch your game. Your keybindings as well as your graphics settings will be reset to the default, so keep this in mind.

Hello.
So, I'm the head-admin of a server that goes by the name of Isle of Bermuda. Ever since the update to the public branch (which we're on) we've been having consistent crashes about every 20 minutes to an hour of the server being up. I'm not entirely sure what's going on with the servers and the crash logs aren't really showing anything as to why it's happening. We're currently running on Thenyaw Island, if that helps. Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. <3

This is more of a question about the game in general, rather than any particular sever, but: Is it a thing where you have to constantly update the game or is it just me?
I have updated my game a few times in the past few minutes and almost every time I join a server, or try, it says my game is outdated. Right after I update it.

Hey so I’m having some issues with FPS on the Isle. My FPS drops from 60 down to 5 every few seconds on every server I try. My laptop has a GTX GeForce 1050 Ti, Intel i7 8th gen core and 16 GB of ram and my internet seems to have no issues that I can find. I can hardly run the game on medium but yesterday it was running on epic completely fine. Anyone know any solutions to this problem?

I have also been playing the isle all day and when i went to play Dev 4, it states "your game is not up date." I have restarted Steam 3 times to see if maybe it needed to be updated, and I also checked the Client Update button and it says I am up to date and my game is as well. Doing this will make it take a few seconds longer to load up the server list but in my experience makes it more consistent

You are most likely trying to join a dev branch server while being on the live branch. Make sure you are on the dev branch by going into your steam library, right click The Isle and select Properties.
Go in the BETA tab and the dropdown menu should be set on "Development branch". @modest night

the default button to record should still be T, but recordings are bugged at the moment so might not work right

and the recording icon seems to be bugged too in that it doesn't show up when you hit the button, so I just set auto-record to make sure i'm recording

In your Steam library, right click The Isle, go to Properties

Then go to the betas tab, in the drop down menu select dev branch

Then you'll automatically begin downloading the new version.

BUT. dev branch versions are buggy since they are still so new. There are also rules that you have to follow when playing on them, which you can find pinned in this channel

If you're caught breaking rules you will be temporarily banned from that particular server

I've heard of an issue where recording only work on the first server that you joined. Try enabling the auto recording option in your settings.

IBefore the last big patch my server rarely crashed, maybe 2 times a week or so with 100 players constantly online.
After the update - server is crashing multiple time per day, from 5-15+
I heard that pangea owners switched to V3 map and that could be the solution, but pp hosting gave me that as only solution

@rustic niche if you take a look at your server crash log you could maybe find out why it's crashing. I've seen a few crashes happen when an admim attempted to kick a player but it wouldnt do so, and the server would attempt to kick again repeatedly until it crashes.

Looking at the crash log is the best answer we can give you. We're not psychic unfortunately.

If your server providers are telling you that your player count is set too high, that's probably where I would start.

From what I've noticed

Dev 4 crashes a couple of times a day still but is generally pretty stable.

100 is honestly a lot of players for Thenyaw though. That map is really more suited to like, 60, if I'm being honest.

Dev 1-3 are set to 80 and they tend to crash every couple of hours on average

They get really bad fits of crashing every once in a while though.

Likely just some of the new coding isn't agreeing with the server. The devs see their own crash logs though so they will probably iron it out by next patch.

If you change the map you'll need to do a database wipe. The player coordinates will transfer from the old map otherwise and you'll likely have people spawning under the map or worse

At the top left of Steam you’ll see a little button labeled “Steam”, left click that and select settings > in-game > and adjust the dropdown menu at the bottom to around 1000. You may need to tinker around and find the magic number that works for you, afterwards simply hit ok and launch The Isle. @willow cradle

you can also try this if it still doesn't work :

Open the command prompt as an administrator and running the following commands:

Then reboot your pc and test the server browser again

I have a friend who is playing on the EU Official servers (public branch) - in Deathmatch, scent works fine for him, but on Survival, it doesn't work, even when he's by water or bushes. Is scent disabled there? If not, how can I help him with fixing the issue? (And yes, I've shown him the method of deleting save files for the Scenting bug.)

most likely is the server is being run on the dev branch and you are on the live branch

#

Hi I have not been able to play the game. What's happening is it says my steam client is out of date. I have uninstalled and reinstalled making sure that it's on dev branch. Hey guys, so I’ve had a problem lately and was wondering if anyone knows what to do. I’ve been stuck in dev branch since I switched over, and am unable to turn back to the live branch. I’ve done all the appropriate steps, right click on properties, opt out all betas, close the tab, wait for the update to finish downloading, restarting steam, and then entering the game, but nothing works. im having some trouble updating the isle, I did the big update and it seemed to work fine, when i tried to log onto dev 4 however it said my game was out of date. Yet I could still get onto Pangea Official. It told me to restart steam so i did and i did another small update (took 1-2 min) then i tried to launch dev 4 again and got the same error. If it helps my screen on the isle has a bunch of mess on it im not sure if its related but it only appeared in the most recent update.

Sorry @honest river I'm at work and response time is limited. My guess is that it's some kind of loading issue with the way the map is set up currently then since you can play normally after it freezes. Are you able to alt+tab out of the game and interact with your computer normally outside if the game, or does the whole comouter freeze up?

both the amd fx 6300 and the gt 1030 are on the low ends for gaming, most likely your pc is having trouble processing all the player nearby at once since the test map is such a small map

I don't know what resolution you use to play but lowering it to something like 768p/720p will yield better result @honest river

you can try loading the test map with the host button a few times to see if the issue is really the map or your pc loading the other players with it

At the top left of Steam you’ll see a little button labeled “Steam”, left click that and select settings > in-game > and adjust the dropdown menu at the bottom to around 1000. You may need to tinker around and find the magic number that works for you, afterwards simply hit ok and launch The Isle. @sharp wedge

Linux version hasn't been updated for a long time, it's likely there aren't any servers running the same version as you.

Just checked and indeed I see no servers listed when I try the Linux version. It's just from it being so outdated.

In that folder you should see a "TheIsle" folder

Go in there, and you'll see a folder titled Saved

Could you double check to make sure you have all of the server filters unchecked in-game? And also make sure there's nothing in your name/game mode filter boxes, like maybe spaces or something

Also set the ingame max server list to 1000, as that has apparently fixed some things in the past weirdly enough

Idk @pearl oxide except that when I click on a server with the map for isle v3, it tells me to update the game and restart steam. I’ve tried that a few times, doesn’t fix it
