I would also say that updating the drivers would work but wouldn't garuntee they keep working. With how many times the isle has updated their minimum specs, you never know when you "can't play" anymore.

@lilac thistle Okay, still getting the VAC check timed out error. Also restarted Steam as admin, re-connected to my WiFi, and did everything under the sun including restarting my PC. Note, while this happens, I'm stuck sitting in the game for 5 minutes because it counts as a "Non-safelog." That's kind of a serious issue. To say this is an issue with people's internet or Steam is ridiculous. It started happening out of the blue, when Steam hadn't updated at any point during it showing up.

Hmm, if it's an AMD HD 8990 OEM, that... appears to be somewhere near a GTX 690 in terms of performance, which means it's teetering somewhere near the minimum requirements of the game. However, Direct X issues sound familiar and I will do a bit of research to see if I can find a solution.

This game seems to have issues with people customizing their controls. I've heard from a few people (and have experienced) that if they reset something to another key it absolutely will not work with the new key command
Best to leave everything on default settings

Anyone have any idea why a good portion of servers won't show up in the server list? Searching the exact name brings up nothing. Also, clicking refresh with or without any filters checked will bring up different results almost every time.. I have no idea what is going on.

At the top left of Steam you’ll see a little button labeled “Steam”, left click that and select settings > in-game > and adjust the dropdown menu at the bottom to around 1000. You may need to tinker around and find the magic number that works for you, afterwards simply hit ok and launch The Isle.

back in the days the game wasnt as demanding graphically as it is now, with every patch coming out there is a possibility that they improved the game's graphic thus being more demanding on your computer

If it's under warranty, you may want to seek a repair. If it's water damage they probably won't fix it but it may just be a defective part.

At different points in the map's development, V3 has had red and white flowers -- you're possibly looking at older screenshots of that particular map.

As an alternative of deleting your Saved folder if you are having issues with changing your settings (resolution , sound) ,you can manually change them by editing the ''GameUserSettings'' found in :
C:\Users?\AppData\Local\TheIsle\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

A week ago I was getting high ping and lag/stuttering in my game, especially bad on Thenyaw. I reset my router, reset my Wifi extender, and my game ran better than fine and with a higher framerate than I'd had in a while until I updated my GeForce Experience drivers. Now I get lag and ping up to 1020 on both maps, crashing, teleporting, but the lag and stuttering is still especially bad on Thenyaw, and as a result that map has become nigh unplayable. I've reset the router and extender again to no avail.

I mirror @waxen oak in #401481402782056460 ; was there some kind of update or addition to the minimum system requirements that would cause my game to not run as smoothly as it did just three days ago?

@proud crater today it has gotten even worse stuttering every 2-3 seconds even with my framerate at 80fps. I play on all epic settings with a ryzen 1600 gtx1070ti 16gb of ram and the isle is on my m2 ssd. It is just about unplayable at this point I’ve taken multiple videos of it aswell. Even dropped quality to high than medium and no change

I had that issue just last night and fixed it by playing with my ping settings in Steam and starting up the game afterward. I had to change mine from 1000 back to Auto (5000) @lime brook

Okay, Ill give that a try. My computer is an old laptop but I just factory reset and updated it, and I would think it can at least run the game on low settings. Even if it lags i do still want to play.

The drop down menu circled in the image I provided, have him choose 1000 > relaunch the game. If it works then that's great, if it doesn't then have him close the game and choose the next option above 1000 in the dropdown > rinse and repeat until it works or he's out of options.

Add an exclusion to your anti-virus/firewall for The Isle.
Identify which anti-virus/firewall program you have (if any) and add an exclusion for The Isle. Anti-virus/firewall interference is generally the most common cause for this particular problem, exclusions often solving the issue entirely.
Adjust your Steam In-Game server browser: Max pings / minutes.
At the top left of Steam you’ll see a little button labeled “Steam”, left click that and select settings > in-game > and adjust the dropdown menu at the bottom to around 1000. You may need to tinker around and find the magic number that works for you, afterwards simply hit ok and launch The Isle.

Ok, I'm getting really irritated now. To say the least.

I've been told this VAC Timed Out issue is Steam related. I've shut it down, reinstalled it, did the troubleshooter on it, started it in Admin, reinstalled the game, everything under the sun, and I'm to be told "It's my Steam"? When it's a fresh install, and it is only a select people it happens to? I was just in a game on IN, bought a dino, and just lost it, which was $10, because I got logged in while my dino sat there as I got disconnected. This issue is bs, and I doubt it's related to Steam alone.

Right click The Isle in your library, go to Properties. Under the In-Game tab, you should see a drop down menu for Max Pings/min or something similar. Change the value on that to 1000 or 500 and apply it.

It will take longer to load up your server lists but it should be much more consistent

#

If that does not fix it, then it is usually a security software problem

Hmm, it looks like pressing Alt+Enter toggles fullscreen mode in a similar manner to what you're describing. Have you been holding alt when doing this? Or alt tabbing out of the game?

@static atlas I've seen a similar issue before and the sticky keys function was the culprit. Press the Shift key 5 times rapidly, a tone should play and you’ll have the sticky keys control icon on your taskbar (bottom right side) open it and uncheck all the boxes in the menu to fully disable sticky keys, restart your PC and try to alt tab out of the isle and back again to see if it reoccurs.

After the patch fixes were downloaded, at first only the game sounds crashed. But now everytime I launch the game is keeps crashing. I've reinstalled it, verified my files, i've done everything. How can I fix this?

So the game will start up and the menu screen will have its usual sound effects. And then after 10 seconds of it playing it makes an error noise and cuts out. Now the game is playable though, before it wasn't. Which I guess is an improvement.

Oh well, nevermind. I restarted it again and it works now.

I have no idea what happened, but on the brightside it's functional.

How can I manually edit the game controls? Inside the save folder where it has a input txt file it is empty problem is the analogs keep replacing whatever button I'm trying to change and it's a disaster trying to edit in game.

doubt it's related to your actual spec. after a few research on it i've found no known working fix beside scrilting your registry log as mentionned earlier, which i cannot help with unfortunately.

-if you have an old (dry) toothbrush, trying gently cleaning the USB port and plug for the keyboard.
-try reinstalling the driver with the same version via the device manager in windows (it'll recommend the version)
-if you have another keyboard around try using it and see if the issue persists

Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
Afterwards, at the bottom left of your taskbar there should be a white search bar. Type %APPDATA% in there and open your %APPDATA% folder.
At the top you'll see the filepath, click "Appdata" to go back to the actual Appdata folder, then to local > TheIsle > delete the "Saved" folder.

So, I've been having a problem where I've been trying to download the recent patches for the game, but it's not working for me for some reason. Whenever the download gets to 100% it stalls and then starts going between "0%", "100%", and "Validating". I've looked up the problem, and tried the solution of deleting the "downloading" folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps, but after I do that, the problem still happens once the update gets to 100% again. I have also tried restarting steam itself, and the same problem has been a result.

Alright, so, ever since the hotfix to the hunger patch that happened on the Dev Branch, my FPS has tanked. I was actually having great FPS on the broken hunger patch, but the hotfix has now made it so my 90 FPS tanks down to 25 stutters and it happens frequently. Whatsu p with that?

That's just wrong, it has everything to do with your specs: it's either your hardware or a bug
if it's a bug with the patch, how is anybody supposed to solve it without you providing the most basic info to help the devs narrow down the cause?

Because, im well aware of what the typical response is when someone has a fault with the game. You find something within the hardware even though it was never a cause before until a certain patch. Ive been through this before and a typical response is. "Your hardware sucks."

Again, performed well on the dev branch server until the hotfix came with the hunger. So it wasn't my specs that became a problem, unless somehow, the hotfix even made the game worse optimized then it was.

This is also running the game((Trying to fix it)), while playing it on the lowest resolution and hte lowest settings, even though I ran on medium-epic settings before hand.

Hence why I have 203 hours in the game already

try AA on low, 1080p at 100% render and drop the view distance down to medium (iirc it doesn't limit render range on characters) see how it does, if its not smooth enough drop the render scale a bit

If the above doesn't fix it, my next guess would be to try a clean installation. Specifically, I would uninstall the game, navigate to your steamapps\common directory, delete the folder titled The Isle, and then re-install it from scratch.

To fix this please reset your system’s Winsock connection settings by opening a Windows command prompt as administrator (go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories, right-click on “Command Prompt” and choose “Run as administrator”) and entering “netsh winsock reset" (without the quotes). Reboot your computer and check if your problem is fixed now.

If you're a Windows 10 user simply type "CMD" into the search bar at the bottom left, right click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator", then continue following the instructions above.

Hello,
I have a weird issue with the game where it stops responding to my inputs suddenly. This usually happens when I have restarted the game which I have to do once in a while to avoid crashes. At rather frequent intervals all my keyboard inputs are locked, though I can move my mouse around and I hear the cursor hovering over the tabs in game. This also brings my dino to a complete sudden halt. Everytime it happens I have to click LMB to regain control over my character. It goes as far as to lock all my inputs even in the steam overlay. Only going back into the game and pressing LMB fixes it. I have yet to reinstall the game, and I'm playing on public branch. I just wanted to ask if this is a known issue, and whether dev branch has a fix for it or not. If need be I will of course reinstall the game, but I would like to avoid it tbh.

It's probably the blood effect. If there's peace around us, there is no fps drops at all. If somebody engaging a fight or starting to eat, it's start instantly. We just sitting there with my friend and watching some people playing around. Since we can't or we are dead for sure. this is my fps when somebody fighting near to me : 45-50 fps in peace. When fighting or eating 45 - to 15 for 1-2 sec and repeat...45 and then 15-20 for 2 sec again. it's like a coomic book xd

Apparently, Fullscreen, Im getting much less FPS drops and less harsh compared to my perfereed Windowed Borderless

Alright. So ive done some more tests. Fullscreen DOES fix alot of my FPS problems. However, it seems that those trees where your camera is shoved back to full screen is causing alot of FPS problems as well.

When I join or die on a test level map my game has always frozen up bad. Some times I have time to at least select a dino but clicking the spawn button takes a long while to register and some times Im already dead again by the time I load in. I have no problems like this on any other map even around lots of dinos. Recently the issue has gotten worse, to whenever i press esc that menu lags me also. Sitting on a nest also freezes me especially if i open the menu with b. Im not sure what could be causing it

I've done a fresh reinstall of the entire game, verified files, reset my router, restarted my computer, had the admins of IN also delete my files so I could get to dino select, and nothing is working.

Even had a guy ban and unban me just to see if something that farfetched worked, and nothing.

#

I could get into an Isle Official Dev Branch server and pick a dino fine, but when it comes to that server, either of the two, it happens. I was directed to come here to try and find help.

So, when switching between headphones (my sweet, sweet baby child Burl Wood Sennheiser 598s) and my speakers (an Extra Bass Sony XB30) often outright crashed my game with a simple fatal error message. When it doesn't, the audio always doesn't follow over to the new device. I'm not using any fancy soundcard or whatever, just regular old onboard audio and updated drivers, but I can track them down if need be. I suspect this is a bug, as it happens with other devices as well, but I really hope it's something on my end I can fix so I can flicker between writing with music on speaker and putting on my fancy headphones while I play. I might make a suggestion for a different kind of directional audio for those who use mono speakers though so that they... Can be played with at all, as currently, directional audio is a much-needed sense.

<@&401466542140817419> I'm on the dev branch and scent just won't work and is not showing up in the controls, I've tried resetting controls from the game and restarting the game, I've tried the solution of going into the file explorer to delete the saved folder for The Isle, but it didn't work either (I'm on Windows 7 so the buttons were different and I don't think I found the right saved folder to delete, so it didn't do anything), I've also tried the old way of deleting the saved folder (through Steam, Properties, Local Files, Browse Local Files, and deleting the saved folder under The Isle), which hasn't worked either... Is there any solution for Windows 7 users since some options are different or in different places?

option > view tab > enable show hidden files

#

Afterwards, at the bottom left of your taskbar there should be a white search bar. Type %APPDATA% in there and open your %APPDATA% folder.
At the top you'll see the filepath, click "Appdata" to go back to the actual Appdata folder, then to local > TheIsle > delete the "Saved" folder.

I did the show hidden files, then I searched for the %APPDATA% folder and clicked on the result for that(Which was just labelled AppData in case it meant anything) then it shows one folder called Local, and when I opened that it showed just one other folder labeled Temp

No server found solution :
At the top left of Steam you’ll see a little button labeled “Steam”, left click that and select settings > in-game > and adjust the dropdown menu at the bottom to around 1000. You may need to tinker around and find the magic number that works for you, afterwards simply hit ok and launch The Isle.

Hiya I was sent here by someone that said I could get help. I have a store bought gaming PC and its hit around the time that it is running low i love isle so much and was wondering if i could get some help

The strange thing is I can run the game on epic but I have low frames and my game randomly freezes for minutes at a time

If I lower it to low settings and a mix of high that ik work it runs fine other than the times I freeze the freezing is my issue really I'll freeze from 1-5 min and the only way to close is to restart my computer

your gpu looks fine, it compares with the recommended system configuration of the isle.
CPU and RAM are not though, they recommend a 3.4GHz quad core processor and 16g of RAM

And I have been playin on the official eu and devs when i first started to play a few months ago. But when i now started to play like 2 weeks ago. Nothin. try opening the command prompt as an administrator and running the following commands:
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
Then reboot your pc and test the server browser again.

Live branch is stable if you can't handle unstable version of the game. This is why dev branch exist, test the patch and the devs can fix issues like that.

So if anyone is able to help me with my issue please DM me since I probably won't be checking in here at all times.
My issue isn't exclusively with The Isle, but all Unreal Engine games do not have ANY sound for me. It included games like The Isle, Primal Carnage, ARK: Survival Evolved, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare etc.

I tried the following things to fix it but none of them worked:
-Installing/fixing my sound drivers.
-Messing with sound setting on Windows 10.
-Updating Windows 10
-Reinstalling Games
-Verify Integrity of Game Cache

For anyone having the Fatal Error [File Unknown: Line 3073] Missing dependency. Try turning off Static HUD if it is enabled. A restart is required. This is just one solution that helped me and I wanted to share it.

@viscid willow That is a crash that appeared as of the last dev branch patch. The devs are currently investigating it and hopefully find a fix. Until then, if you are unable to connect to any server, I'd suggest you play on the live branch for now.

This happens every time i first launch the game since the newest patch. It does this the first, and around every other time i launch the game. ive uninstalled then reinstalled to see if it fixes the problem. Anyone have any idea why its doing this or a fix for it?

So I havent played the isle for a couple months now, I loaded the game up and joining any server results in me being instantly disconnected. I looked through the feed to see if anyone else had the problem and had no luck. I deleted my save folder and verified the integrity of the game files, can anyone help me?
