Yeah, you shouldn't be able to join the dev servers even if you can see them, they are running a different version.

Those aren't dev branch servers, those are just the official servers.

Check security exclusions, validate game files, etc.

There is a link that is pinned in this channel leading to a Steam thread that Punchpacket has made. Go through that and see if anything fixes it. If not, you are able to tag him. He'd be more knowledgeable for this sort of thing than myself.

Erm, so I have opt into the Public Dev Branch and have been playing on Dev 3. I have found that I cannot smell. In settings>controls I cannot spot the option either. Also another thing I've found was there was this one time I was a Trike, and amazingly I did not consume water at all. Only my hunger dropped while my water guage stayed full. This ones not really a complained, it was quite awsome, though I thought I'd better mention it.

Nevermind on the first, I asked someone ingame and they were kind enough to explain to delete the 'saved' file in the Isle directory. Then with a restart it fixed it all. Though the infinate water concept is still open for judgement

Hey so i'm gonna try this again, since the new development branch update my game causes my system to reset, now i have uninstalled the game and reinstalled, i have tried everything on low graphics settings, baring in mind before the update i was able to play in epic settings and never had a single issue, so far everything i have tried has lead to nothing, the best iv'e managed is maybe 15-20 in game before my system resets, i really need some info on possible causes that are not reinstall or graphics settings any ideas?

Well it's basically like i'm hitting my reset button on my system, I have played other games and so far no issues at all but every time i try to play the isle on the new development branch my system eventually resets, i have tried 6 times this morning to play and every time it has reset my system, I am gonna try uninstalling and reinstalling and playing without the development branch patch and see what happens.

This might be my only chance... I've been getting stuck at the server loading screen, I load everything perfectly however as I join a server there a eternal loading screen. I don't DC or become get kicked out of joining the server, but... I just get stuck in a forever loading screen.

I have tried deleting the saved folder, verifying my game files, and reinstalling entirely.

My procsssor is a intel (R) core(tm) I7-6500U cpu @2.50GHz

8GB Physical Memory
15GB Virtual Memory

My graphics card is a nvidia geforce 940M

I don't know what to do anymore... But if anybody can help thank you for it.

@void otter you have to delete your saved folder

#

Right click The Isle in your Steam Library > left click properties > local files > browse local files > TheIsle > delete the "Saved" folder and re-launch The Isle. It'll reset everything back to default, the folder itself will refresh upon launch.

Usually more stable than current public branch, but I don't know if that's accurate any longer.

You can switch to Legacy just like you would Dev branch, but there are no official legacy servers as far as I know so you would have to find an unofficial one to join.

yea I can't enter any Thenyaw server (except once on an official progression server), dev branch or not. Someone suggested I delete my "Saved" folder and verify the game files which I did, but it still doesn't work. V3 map connects just fine

I tested out a random 0 population server utilizing thenyaw (survival) on development branch as well, and at first it loaded in the terrain, froze, then immediately booted me back to main menu with the time out error. That was before I uninstalled the game (am currently reinstalling to see if this fixes issues).

it's under the recommended but I'm still able to play the game fine on low settings and Thenyaw works fine in singleplayer (just as fine as V3) so I don't see why it wouldn't load in multiplayer

Try this:
Right click The Isle in your Steam Library > left click properties > local files > browse local files > TheIsle > delete the "Saved" folder and re-launch The Isle. It'll reset everything back to default, the folder itself will refresh upon launch.

So yes, as it seems, a lot of people cannot connect to any servers. Myself included. At this point I do not believe it is an issue of "Oh your computer is just too low end for our game" at this point it seems more of an issue with the dev branch itself. However, I do take into account this is dev branch. i get the same kind of fatal error message @raven agate when i go to The Isle [development] and Legacy. it happens right when the home screen pops up on the isle. I've also tried mostly everything to fix it. It seems like my only option now is to wait for another big patch. like maybe when the new allo gets put in. This fatal error occurred right when cerato and dilo were put into survival.

In a laptop.. Not really. In a desktop, yes. And the your CPU is the "Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-6100U CPU @ 2.30GHz" your GPU is "Intel(R) HD Graphics 520" - You need a Quad-core processor, plus a dedicated graphics card.. I.E an AMD/NVIDIA better than a 760/R9 280X

Right, once you've logged into Geforce Experience just select the "Drivers" tab and download your latest drivers. When it's done, do an Express Installation.

#

Your screen will flicker on/off during the installation process, it'll happen for several minutes, it's normal. As it uninstalls your old display drivers and replaces them.

Sunrise in dev branch still drops my fps to 1 and gives me broken sounds and only restarting the game fixes it, aswell as i cannot log into dev4 no more, it instantly freezes and does not respond anymore

Yea, I'm having something similar happen to me. My application keeps freezing after a few seconds on a server ( Only on the new V3 map thus far) and at the same time, it automatically freezes the game if I go into the ESC menu (again, only on the new V3 map)

@lilac thistle Well, usually when my game updates, the game title turns blue and the update is added to my Steam update que. The problem i'm having is that there is no update showing at all. In my library, this is all i'm seeing.

The game launches and plays fine, it just lacks any of the new content (such as Allosaurus) and all of the servers are gone because they have updated to the new version of the game.

Well, all the servers are gone besides a few obscure dead servers but i'm sure you know what I mean.

@chrome merlin Tried a clean re-installation? Basically uninstall The Isle from your Steam library, navigate through your Steam folder to where The Isle is located and delete it. Afterwards reinstall the game through Steam.

@worldly dove Right click The Isle in your Steam Library > left click properties > local files > browse local files > TheIsle > delete the "Saved" folder and re-launch The Isle. It'll reset everything back to default, the folder itself will refresh upon launch.

Hey, @lilac thistle. My game keeps freezing when I tab out of it. And I also get bad fps. My configuration is as following: 16gb ram, Fx-8350 overclocked at 4.5 ghz, Gtx 1050 ti 4gb overclocked as well. It happened from the beginning, and it seems to be just me, cuz most of my friends are not getting that problem, even if they have less powerful computers. Hope u can help me with that, thanks!

I also have that problem with tabbing out and it freezing my game. Another problem i have is every time i load into the game it starts lagging really bad then it just stops working and the sound just goes static and cuts in and out

Ok, as soon as I get attached or attack someone: freeze, scratching sound, game stops, .
After some time playing: freeze, scratching sound, game stops, .

also thing around the ocean bay:freeze, scratching sound, game stops

tried lowering the graphiss to low, no effect, same issue

Experiences on Dev Server 4 so far

Hmm, if it's not drivers then I'm not terribly sure what the cause could be. When was the last time you deleted the Saved folder? And have you tried a clean reinstallation?

Best I can offer is to a) make sure others can connect to it alright, b) double check security software exclusions and c) change the... I think it's called Max Pings/Minute setting in your Steam settings

Just adding onto @short oak comment, it seems to be the second the sun starts to rise that causes this 'bug' to happen with the game crash and sound. Evrah and I was just testing it out. Restarting her game seemed to be a solution. Not sure if this information would be of any use to you devs

Yea, that freezing / audio cutting/ static also happens to me, and I run just amount everything on cinematic, except for shadows, which are on epic, which is a gtx 1050ti, so I'd assume it dosen't require you to be below minimum specs...atleast in my case

@honest river Most likely as the mods you're subscribed to are outdated, which you'd need the mod creator to update. Similarly you'll need to play on servers that are actually running those mods.

Ok, I'm not sure why but I've been having some server issues for a couple weeks now.
After about 1-2 refreshes all servers disappear from the list (or don't show up at all if there's any checks in the search) and don't reappear unless I restart the game entirely. This has been happening on both normal and Dev branches.

@indigo peak Well your system is definitely below our minimum requirements, not too far below them though. So that'd explain why you're encountering some performance issues. Your biggest issue is the CPU, as it's a very old dual-core CPU. Your GPU is pretty old too.

@violet valley Seems Steam is detecting your Intel HD Graphics as your primary GPU, so it's most likely attempting to use that when you're launching The Isle. Usually updating your GPU drivers fixes that.

If I ask you for information in regards to your system you'll give it to me if you want my assistance, as in most cases when a user tells me it's not their system they end up being wrong.

Considering the issue you're having it still sounds as if your Intel HD graphics are being used over your primary GPU in-game.

As that's what often causes this issue.

#

I'd say disable your multi-monitor set-up, or switch your other monitor over to use your 960M as well and see if it persists.

ok... is this an issue that would only manifest when trying to join a server but wouldnt effect me hosting a private game??? cuz I can load into a private game no problem... it's only when joining a server

That's because if the game is using your Intel HD, your system is unable to load the map before the server assumes that you've timed out, hence it ejects you. Which isn't a problem when you're locally hosting a server.

And you're certain your drivers are up to date? I suppose you could try running Steam as an administrator, as the issue you've described is most commonly a system issue.

I suppose you could try adding firewall exclusions to determine if the timeout's are due to interference from that.

I've gone as far as completely turning off any and all firewalls and anitvirus software already and it didn't have any effect

the nvidia is set as the default processor for anything i run... is there some setting in steam regarding which processor it uses I'm not aware of? I truly believe this game is running with the correct gpu at this point... If it was the hd graphics it wouldnt be able to run smoothly when loading a private game.....

If I might briefly interject? I've only quickly read through some of this, but if you suspect that your PC is running TI off of your integrated graphics versus your card, you should be able to fix this in your NVIDIA Control Panel.

It's a 960M, correct? The game should be able to run on low-medium settings with that. My previous laptop had one and I was able to get about 20-40 fps at a 720p resolution.

Before I go, the argument "I can run this game no problem.. I've had this game for years.... this is a new problem" - As do most people do get this issue, but alas their system ends up being the issue. @pearl oxide The issue is literally him getting timed out by the server because he can't load the map in time.

Hey, I have been playing dev branch and every time i join the dev branch my game freezes for a little while and I have to quit the game and restart it. After doing this mutliply times i can play for about 50 m then the game starts to freeze again. And i have to relog to fix this. is there a wzay to stop this ?

Ok so, for some reason I've been having this same issue where when it turns dawn on the V3 map, and only that map, my game cuts out, with extremely choppy audio / static, and goes to 0 fps for a few seconds, then goes back to normal for about maybe 2-5 seconds, then resumes with the freezing and ear-bleeding chopping audio .. This issue however, has been fixed with the new update "0.1.39.8" and it no longer froze up during morning, so all seemed fine..Until today when the same issue started up again. I don't know what's causing this. Does anyone else expierence this and / or know a possible solution?or am I alone on this? haha. Here's my system specs :

I'm not sure if this is a common issue or not, (I've tried clearing my save file to try and fix it). but I've been unable to play on the thenynaw map recently. I can run all the other maps, except any server with thenynaw on it, including dev servers. When I tried to join a thenynaw map, this message popped up:

After some testing on dev3 I noticed thenyaw has way better performance as V3, on v3 i kept crashing/freezing at sunrise with choppy noises but soon as i played a few hours on dev3 I didnt freeze or crash a single time. So it obviously isn't my pc that's the problem.

I get 60 fps on thenyaw on epic while I only get 20-30 fps on v3 with low settings

^ Yea I get that too idk how to fix it..I re-downloaded my current up to date driver because there wasn't a new one (Supposedly someone said updating your driver is supposed to fix it..which isn't true apparently, atleast for me) and I still had the issue.

My game works fine on Thenyaw, but now the freezing issue i have on the testmap (which i reported before) has spread onto the new V3. I have fine performance during the day, but then start suttering and freezing up as soon as it hits dusk or dawn. I believe my system is above minimum specs.

Radeon HD 7520G, 3.5GB of RAM & a Dual-Core CPU. That'd be the issue, that falls below our minimum requirements by quite a long stretch unfortunately. Your issue is that you're unable to join servers before they eject you because they assume that you've timed out.

tried changing the beta branch.... ran as administrator... tried running it in compatibility mode... reset all my gpu settings to default... set the game graphic settings to the lowest setting... adjusted ping rate... I'm sure i'm forgetting something I've tried, though...

So, currently im having an issue where im deaf, but only while in game. The menu and start up sounds work, but once I select a dino I hear nothing. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my computer or my headphones. I've already tried fiddling with audio settings, verifying files, and restarting my laptop. So far nothing's worked. I'm about to try uninstalling and reinstalling but I wanted to post this hear first if there was some other fix or if someone was also having the same issue.

@heavy sapphire Clean reinstallation should do the trick for the locked file then, I'd suggest uninstalling The Isle from your Steam library, going into your Steam folder and deleting the leftover Isle folder before you reinstall the game.
