Lets get back to the architecture regarding the flow of water on the island, they have large dams, presumably absolutely monstrously sized pumps for the swamps and possibly the pits to the south

Why was changing the environment this much necessary

The water access dam can be used to explain powering the island, but there’s also the dam at delta and the massive wall at perimeter’s base behind the waterfall, not even considering what the purpose of the giant pipes at swamp are, or what the large vents in the pits could be used for, are they using gateway as a testing ground for reconstruction of the climate overall rather than just testing the dinosaurs? If so, would it not make more sense to spread out testing more to reduce variables? Unless gateway is more of a proving ground than a testing facility, which could be interesting

We’ve only seen relatively successful tests via recovered files for gateway, no abysmal failures I would argue

And we know the diabloceratops we saw were at least were the 51st generation when they were injected, so there’s been significant development that we haven’t seen, either on gateway or elsewhere

Hello, I've heard things like rex will get a 'hypo' strain that will make them more powerful but more hungry. And that these might be acquired by nesting? Or perhaps entombment, not sure?

Well anyway. Can anyone tell me if herbivores will get their own strain? Getting powerful from entombment or nesting sounds great but I'd love for all species to be able to do it, even if in a different way than being hypo specifically. Like a different strain but just like. Do herbis get anything for completeing the same tasks?

I would love for herbivores to have their own strains!

But if they merge with plants does that mean omnivores and herbivores can eat them?...

I think a strain that makes them excessively spiky all over or to have extra tough skin makes sense from the predation causing them to evolve such a form. Or maybe- Since carni would have a trade off of being extra hungry, we could give Herbi strains the trade off of being extra noisy or maybe if we did mix one with a plant it would be smell-able. Honestly though if it's tissue becomes part-plant tissue I think carnivores would find it less yummy but I guess that's an adaptation

It would be cool if there was a strain for herbivore that made them feathered even if they realistically weren't but it also gives them really good hearing, smell and night vision BUT they get smaller and less powerful. It could give them visually bigger eyes and owl ear tufts or something to explain the improved hearing.

Almost like they might be reverting back to the bird DNA that they were constructed from, getting smaller and feathered and sensitive

Look, if you want me to determine if something is good enough, it’s hard.
It’s always a very hard question because it always comes down to the subjective…what you prefer, what I prefer, what we prefer, what they prefer.
And therefore, it’s hard for me to say objectively if it’s good or not.
But for me, I want to be brutally honest, as brutally honest as I can, as a person who is basically Isle-lores practically every day, almost.

I’ll tell you this: Right now, it’s probably not where it could be at. Not that Dondi didn’t put work into it, but if they changed the production pipeline of the lore to be more at the forefront… then maybe yeah.
We know, and I know, that Dondi puts a lot of effort into lore.
The problem is, despite all that effort, it’s hard to…we almost never see that effort.
So many times, Dondi’s literally talking about stuff, making stuff, producing stuff, directing stuff that relates to lore… and it actually never comes.

We’ve got a Troodon thing that happened ages ago when Errant 291 happened.
We’ve got tons of miscellaneous lore from Legacy.
We’ve got periods of time when Evrima were, you know, before and after rewrites, him talking about the story of The Isle lore back in (roughly) 2021 on Twitter, saying, “Oh, how do you guys want the story to end?” And everyone picked something heartbreakingly sad.
I can’t remember exactly what the result was called, but it was basically along the lines of “heartbreaking.”
That’s almost practically five years ago now, maybe six, when he did that Twitter post.

Dondi has rewritten, at least to what I know, books of The Isle around three times.
And when I say books, I don’t mean specifically pure novels, but to the extent of having as much information as a novel.
Dondi has also said in the past that some of his rewrites, some of his writings, could almost become a book, in terms of just how much there was.

I think he was specifically talking about how the way he was writing it down wasn’t effective enough for lore; it was more effective as a book.

But now we know that Dondi, last year, at the beginning of last year, did make a lore book.
Specifically a document. It’s a better timeline of summaries, of events, of dates, instead of just being a book.
It’s an actual document of everything.

In terms of stories that we have now, though, we only really have one big major story, and that’s Errant 291.
If you want to criticise the stories of The Isle, there’s really only one in terms of Evrima.
Of course, you can talk about other characters, like the Stegosaurus named SALT, or the Triceratopses, Atlas and his offspring, Duke.

But they’re very… well, not simple… but relatively simple. Not in a diminutive way, but more so they’re characters that do have impact, but they’re just not important enough to really say, “Oh, this is a big story, this is an amazing story.”

The Triceratops video is actually really nice.
It has some sort of Shakespearean tragedy to it, not really tragedy, but like the lifespan of a dinosaur, almost.
Then it dies, and then its kid takes up its legacy, which is really nice.

But they’re really offhand stories that aren’t really complementing the deeper lore, the deeper worldbuilding, the deeper subtextual things like EIPs, and strains, and collateral events, religious and political implications, etc etc.
But they’re nice. It’s nice to have now.
I will not say that these things are bad. They’re really nice.

But unlike Errant 291, those stories are a lot more simple lore-wise than Errant 291 is.
Errant 291 has a bit of mystery to it.
What happens to Errant 291?
Why did he have a cardiac arrest?
Who was he technically?
He has an employee badge, but was he a Gen 2?
Was he an actual normal human?
Did he work for somebody?
Was he under the replicator?

These are a bit simpler questions than deeper lore questions, but they’re still questions that are very critical, and I do believe they are… not very important… but questions you should have for a one-time character that relates to lore.
Maybe not the bigger questions, but they are still very critical questions.

And we’re yet to have any more of those.
We were going to get a Troodon one, but as I said before, we never got it.

**So, TL;DR: **
I don’t think we’re there yet. We have the foundation, but if you can’t get clingy enough to The Isle lore, you’re not going to enjoy it right now.

That’s as brutally honest as I can be.

And I know Dondi wants people to love lore, and I love lore, and I will spread lore as much as I want to and as much as I can.
But brutally honest, it’s a bit hard right now.
Not to say that we aren’t getting lore because we have been getting lore.
It is just very slow, but if you want lore just for the sense of having content coming into your mouth, we have stuff. We have some stuff.
It is slow, but we have some stuff.

But if you want lore that makes you think critically, deeply, and has some sort of beautiful story, some sort of story that Dondi enjoys, that we all will enjoy… then not yet.
We’re not there yet.
Of course, that’s assuming that we know what Dondi wants for it.
Maybe Dondi just wants a simple story.
But I don’t think he would have done that Twitter poll if he wanted a simple story.

So, we’ll see.

The jaw especially strikes me as straying from the current model. It has a much more pronounced curve, just like the legacy one.

Irl the main barrier infront of our current bio engineering process is that we cannot clone reptiles.

alrighty bois i watched anthomnia’s most recent video and i think that the reveal is going to have something to do with tribals. this should be taken with a grain of salt because nothing he has said can be confirmed but the things he was saying made it sound like tribals. he said

  1. “something else can use human animations”
  2. “this has never been done before”
  3. “people are either going to love them or hate them.”
  4. Well obviously humans can use human animations, and tribals are humans
  5. Maybe they’re adding in some things so the tribals can craft and use their weapons, that hasn’t been done in the Isle yet.
  6. When talking about dinosaurs and strains, they have always been referred to as singular, like saying THE hypo rex or THE dilophosaurus. if it was a new dinosaur, he would have said “people are either going to love IT or hate IT.” humans have always been plural. Also, people might not like being “tamed” by the tribals or might not like what they bring to the game in general. The tribals are also supposed to be naked so understandably some people are gonna hate that lol

It'll honestly be very interesting to see what Dynamics tribals will have with their mounts. Taking out the friends allowing friends to tame them, the dino obviously will not want to be restrained as that potentially nakes them easier prey if, say, the tribal doesn't notice a pred but the animal does and can't flee. However if the tribal is observant they can potentially get the dinosaurs trust and both nay even benefit from it

So ideally you'd escape a tribal that is incompetent, but perhaps stick with a tribal that provides protection

@hearty mulch I'm not home atm but one of the easiest ones to spot is "Death" On the leftmost side. Another one is Apollo. There are at least 5 more, but like I said I don't really remember them. They probably arent even that important as they seem like random adjectives that have something to do with making dinosaurs / the island in general.

With the terminal being covered with moss and foliage. i do wonder if there is a way to clean it up a bit. because if you look close enough. there are lights hidden away and all that. i have tried messing with the recordings. with the hidden lights, and also a few other things. since if you go over the numbers and click on it. it brings up the recent update and tells you of what that update is and info.
But I dont know how to get past it all. but it is one of the major things that interest me. along with the other unsolved lore.
