Probably the Sarah Harding of the group.
Exactly, they ain't human
Yeah, if Gen 2's had some super "human" intelligence, it would be an insult to the fiction to give it to the average player
this is true
Wrong channel buddy.
*It really is
*
and proper foley artists have a wonderful mind on what object best lies to the audience about its sound
makes sense
whoever banned that person, i think they mightve gotten hacked. could maybe let them know
They don’t and if they’re hacked it won’t be the owner you message but the hacker. That just opens you up to being hacked too.
you can’t get hacked just from talking, but i just remembered now that you get a notification when you’re banned
i’m assuming in that case it was just someone who got in their account. i had that happen once and it was nice when people mentioned it, we were both using the same account at the same time
<@&933486433342222376>
its a bit sad
not too sure if the admins ban or kick
But some of the new 'hacked' things are insane
my brother randomly got hacked, didn't even click a link
the only issue is that he didn't have 2FA...
but still. Crazy.
Wonder if we’ll get dome stuff soon
true true!!!
hoping that Dome work stuff is just the tip of the ice berg
hope it all comes in one solid update
imagine our first strain is arborburst at the dome....
i thought redwoods would be dome update, but i guess not 🤷♂️
wonder what the point of the domes will be if not a biosphere
strain plants....
specificially arborburst would be sick
Facts
I should ping you whenever my group is talking about lore, so you can join in
i'm mostly free to always fact check :))
And I'm always free to mostly fact check
nuh uh!
A question, the dino-human hybrids like Mastermind, Colossus, Reaper, etc... do we know if they are carnivores, herbivore or omnivores?
Is it also known how big they can become, compared to the dinosaurs and if they would be able to actually kill something, like a T-rex or Sauropod.
is the lagg fixed yet?
Are they even cannon now?
In evrima lore
I dunno, that's just what I read in the document
only about week and a half old in this game now 😛
I like that you got in to lore that fast
well, I enjoy games for their story and world... playing final fantasy games helps kick that crappy "play to kill/troll" COD mindset out over time, with it's mountains of text.
Those are more strain humanoids than dino-human hybrids I think
🤔 I see... it thought they were human-hybrids, because it sounds like the corporation that runs this whole experiment, disposes of human workers, by putting them into the experiment. I would imagine... considering how barbaric humans and in particular corporations can be... that creating human-dinosaur hybrids wouldn't be a stretch, similar in the Final Fantasy world, where they mixed "Mako" planetary gasses with human soldiers to create controllable monsters.
I personally think they're gen 1s involved in strain research, those that reveal what they're not supposed to are relocated to tartarus and have their lineage displaced
mmmm I see.
But how did they gain their humanoid form? by that picture you posted. It they all seem to be standing as humans stand. I know apes Can stand, but their primary movement is hunched, using their arms to move, etc... only humans maintain this stance to move around the world.
AE is not evil for the sake of being evil, there's a very morally grey balance for the sake of advancement and profit
You can sort of do what you want with it when you can make your own creatures, similar with gen 2 I feel
well... I would say that is Orderly Evil. The pursuit of profit and advancement, at the cost of life, is no different than nobles (or nations) going to war for profit and power.
It's the human condition, it's easy to point and say something is evil if you don't like it, even if long term the results might well be worth it
Well, I'm not trying to change or create anything, I'm just interested in what the creators here make 🤣 excuse my interest... i know it sounds combative or competitive, but it's not.
No you're fine, you're a bit new and it's good to try and fill in the gaps of what you don't know
this is very true.
exactly!
This is a fun thing that I hope is still relevant
I'm sure it's a very long way to be put in the game (if it ever makes it in). Visions and plans do change over time... i'm sure they have much work already with the dinosaurs, maps and such... but the concept of these other-worldly looking strain creatures is fascinating...
🤣
There's reasons for everything
Guarantee Don has a novel level document at this point.
Just scribbles with some various documents explaining the more in-depth stuff.
Literally what I was thinking of.
Show us the whiteboard, Don. I know for a fact you have one. Either that or a wall covered in post-it notes.
I remember that time he took a screenshot of the headlines of his notes and we spent 6 months debating over it lol
This was over 2 years ago at this point, jesus
Obsidian works great with the canvas.
Howdy Don, hope you're doing well
Oh wait yeah. I remember seeing this.
A tremendous amount of stuff no one really cared about.
Meyer Curve nonwithstanding. That read well to most.
Life got busy tbh, I haven't sat down and theorized in a long ass time
I have like, 2 weeks of absolutely no plans after finals, maybe I'll figure something out then
No I don't mean the community didn't care. I meant the people I let sift through my rough drafts.
Ohhh, neato
I've been filling in the gaps with my own renditions of things. Like the N-Carno Glance Sheet you saw, Don.
I can't wait to see the official versions of said creatures.
I'm excited to see stuff as well
Audibly gasped when I saw Hades.
I'm really excited for human stuff, and I'm hoping we get lots of lore with them
What where
We need to go through the map and see if we can find another pattern with the broken fences and buildings again, a lot has changed since we last saw it
Devblog, assuming hades is hyper carno
DevBlog #66.
lore search lore search
Just a little guy.
beautiful
Idk why I took a screenshot, I saved the gif.
He really hates the void he's stuck in.
It would make sense for hades, zeus, and posiedon entrances to be hyperendocrin containment areas I think
he will break through soon enough
Lore is cool, I miss lorecord every now and again
Acts more like an archive now. I remember you invited me to it specifically because I said Hyper instead of Hypo.
I wonder what the names of tisso/neuro animals are
A Neuro carno named Nemo or Marlin could be funny
Oml. lol
I'm still a sucker for the horrific mimicry I conceptualised with my version of N-Carno.
Shit is terrifying.
Lean more into the greek mythos
Most things do recently
The first dinosaur to die to fall damage was Icarus
Trust
We need more lore, it's been a good minute
Atlas and all that was cool, but I'd like another mystery
Agreed
The terminal thing was cool, but people kinda spoiled that, which sucks
Yeah that irked me.
The new buildings are really neat though.
I've only gotten to have a good look at the East facility.
True, I've taken a gander at the stuff near east lake, and the smaller dock between port and delta, lots of stuff to explore and consider
I wanna find the 'monitor room' that Light found.

Every time I see one of those keypads, it makes me excited.
Especially those that grant access to armouries.
Find a PDA on a skeletal pair of legs missing the torso in a long abandoned building with some passcodes listed in the notes section
That reminded me, I need to find some hazmat models for TAF.
And also building sets in Blender.
I'd honestly much rather do that than rip them. Feels more authentic.
Ooh yes.
It's been too long
For real. When I first saw the weaponry, it took my breath away on the detail.
Specifically for the marksman rifle.

Beautiful firearm.
I'd personally take a shotgun or a handgun any day over the marksman rifle, it's more difficult to use for self defense I feel
Shotgun personally for expeditions.
If I'm hunting, Marksman rifle and Handgun.
But tbh you'll be lucky to find anything.
If I'm clearing rooms, the pistol with the flashlight would probably be my go to option
Suppressed if at all possible
Suppressor would do wonders.
If I can not be heard clear across the island because I got jumped by a galli, I would greatly appreciate it
If you had to take a gun with you as a human into this island... what gun would it be?
What's the objective?
self protection, against carnivores.
and maybe other humans.
Alright, but for how long? Ammo is heavy and I want to have enough
hmmm... let's say you were stranded for 48 hours and rescue May be late.
Shotgun, bring the bandoliers, hide out in a shipping container until it's time to leave
😏 fair.
there is not really much that can stand up to a shotgun, it really is one of the best close range self defense options in terms of firearms.
Once humans release, I'd honestly probably hang out and make my base at one of the more obscure and smaller human structures instead of a massive one, just because you'll get less attention, and can still visit those bigger ones to raid them
Free real estate
I think one of the more secure places you could be is up a tree. All you'd really need to worry about is Herrera and Pteranodon. Or Quetz at the time.
a fair plan. I can expect humans to be fun in this game's scenario... but I am curious on how the hybrids will compete with all... will they be a power among equals? or will they suffer and have to hide and pick their fights...
For now
or a Sauropod, if it ever comes 😛
i mean... if your a vegetarian... and a sauropod eats you, isn't it technically a vege diet? 😛
I guess they need it to be accessible in short bursts and in-game... reading is for old people now apparently 🤣
Perhaps the creator of this world, should have wrote a fantasy book first, or have someone doing that. Then they can make book sales and have an established lore, similar to Warcraft and Warhammer (though those still have modifications made years later.).
Don has a 70 page document of unreleased lore. We’re just figuring out pieces of the puzzle
@acoustic osprey have you checked the secret terminal for HT?
*We're trying lol
We've been on some wild tangents
I'll give it a shot
I just want a slight inklage on Troodon.
that's decent. I guess we just need to be patient.
@tranquil flume Still the same
Yeah
great character btw
Have a hell yeah worthy last stand in highlands
I'm convinced the sky is a shield to keep us locked in... like the Hunger Games.
That’s the wall at the map limit, it’s just in gam, not canon
ah, fair enough.
its a hyperendocrine bioluminescent fungus that grows on air
i think i can get banned for not mentioning thats not true
lol
uh, i think you're fine.
first thing i did lol
oh really, alright thank you
yeah i thought misinformation could get you banned
sure, but there is a stark difference between saying the border of the map in the game is "a hyperendocrine bioluminescent fungus that grows on air" and just lying about the game/devs/other people etc;
Figured you might’ve haha
I also asked him this
Don — 04:08
A tremendous amount of stuff no one really cared about.
Meyer Curve nonwithstanding. That read well to most.
would it even hold the same weight if, through my mighty prestige, said it was true
(joke...)
oh actually
slightly different
I didn't get to the actual games this time
but it appears to be using the version of goat gobbler with the broken floor tiles
which was different last time
we had the broken floor tiles then it came back to normal
now it seems its broken again
(its in the new building at the new facility!)
its one of the those just weird things in Legacy
wheres its just coming off assumption because the original dondi comment could still be inferring many meanings
is that
the hyper... carno...
Can it win against a pibble tho
no
I have a sneaking feeling that Hades is the name of the Hyper carno, whenever we get lore on it.
I thought that was kinda what it was
Might be the project or department name as well
its weird
#isle-lore-theories message
like Don says this, as i just sent
but then you see the bunch of "Hades" references
and it gets weird
but thats legacy lore for you
and is why i do find it a bit funny when people say "legacy lore is better and more uniform" then Evrima (generally)
which is. Yeah. Like.
no
its worse in Legacy, then in Evrima, where you have different periods in its development where things do and don't exist
for many reasons
the idea of "Hades" might be the same
im like 80% sure these lights outside of the dome, a bit after turning on due to the night cycle, are blinking in morse code
or im just grasping at straws
earlier on
it seemed like Hades might've been a Hyper Utah
or maybe the idea of HADES was just a phase that regarded some dinosaurus

Some believed maybe it was just a code that enacted control over the population by involving Hyperendocrins - some sort of contingency plan of Hypers being released. For some reason.
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/401480573471948821/442808455045185536/5675bd00e29496a47a4111a3bbb59252.png?ex=69f28002&is=69f12e82&hm=2f097eba93f3053025bd2dff2d54b1a02e0aa1ed32d47360fbc82716e1d274ff
Also this
"Clearance elevated to level 3 since Type-H ............ Incident. Code Hades-....."
(basically the Hyper Utah idea)
Then, around the middle of 2018
the Type-H Carno picture i sent
i suppose you could add on Hades Entry as well
but. Lol
try and get a recording, if possible!
@river marsh practically every Hades reference we've had
albeit, i might be missing some because i am not on my PC
https://youtu.be/pfeuEsXBqRk not sure how long it needs to be
wtf I set instant premier
idk how to use youtube, fudge me man
making us wait

im not sure if its morse code tbh, it didn't feel random but it also kind of felt repetitive
Oh hell thats not confusing xD
Hades in ref to utah, carno, and possibly quetz with the comment about phantoms in the sky. But def seems more carno related potentially...hm
its weird
but i'll put it through some sort of morse analyser
See if it can spit out anything
rumple shared a recording of this like last year, saying it might be morse
on analysis I didn't see a pattern (unlike the herrera calls in that one video, which had a very clear pattern)
but feel free to look into it, maybe it is morse now, but wasn't then
Oh yeah
I remember that
Imagine a neuro that just emits a constant stream of radiation around it
Little proof of concept thing.
The Replicator.
holy peak
i love it
Hell yeah, love the analog horror vibe
This is actually so cool, but what are the noises after it cuts out supposed to be?
i imagine it as a huge machine walking
It's not my audio. Nor is the replicator (or my version of it) a walking, sentient piece of machinery. Think of it as more of a massive building sized FLDSMDFR from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
I interpret the noise as either someone struggling for air, or the machine readjusting itself after basically exploding.
ohhhhh thats an interesting take on the replicator
an outright building is a nice way to think of it
I envision it as something similar to the teleporters from the early Black Ops: Zombies story.
peaaaak
That video is just a bit of fun. I usually do those as part of brainstorming so that I can better envision what I'm trying to portray.
The audio is taken from one of Kane Pixels' Backrooms videos.
i do see you using those quite often for examples (like the horibble screams up higher in the chat)
A lot of my inspiration comes from those videos
I'm flattered lol
It just really wanted you to send it
guess so lol
This is just a random question, but do we even know why Apollo made the dinosaurs? Were they gonna be used for a park? or maybe a bio weapon?
whats the climate like on gateway
Pharmaceutical reasons from what we know. There's been some illusivenes to an attempt to combat climate change. Which would potentially explain the Plant Strains. But the safest assumption would be pharmaceutical reasons.
This is as close as we’ve gotten I believehttps://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/401480573471948821/1498746167348035655/image.png?ex=69f39923&is=69f247a3&hm=2aff3688047c66b56d5931884d5a4fa9bf5064844343685ddef377ab2e9ac438&
Yeah I was gonna reference to this.
Apollo started off with food and botany, which is worth noting I feel
Yes indeed
That is actually the last thing I expected 😂. That’s really cool though
Since Dondi introduced the redwoods, it would make sense to say that experiments with mutant DNA began on a trial basis with plants; this would even give him a reason to introduce mutant plants that could fill the stomach and diets of huge herbs.
Each patrol having a limited number of these special plants and the migration generating them randomly.
We already know there’s altered plants on the island
The redwoods being genetically modified wouldn’t be particularly surprising, especially given the climate
It would be shocking to me if the redwoods weren't engineered
I think redwoods being on a warm tropical island is probably either really terrible or really good for them
I live like 30 mins from the one of the only non-native born redwoods in the world which is in the UK and that's very different from the West coast
I mean maybe it's a "just a video game" kind of hand wave
They like temperate climates, tropics are way too hot for them normally
I see, I wonder about their humidity preference, the UK is far more humid
They LOVE humidity
The only reason they can grow to record sizes in their native range is because coastal fog increases the humidity drastically, and allows redwoods to absorb water through their leaves. In this way they don't have to draw water all the way from the ground level, which gets harder and harder the taller the tree
But a lot of our Pacific Northwest trees do great in the UK
I've heard the tallest tree in the UK is a Doug-Fir, my own state tree
Ironically those are not native here it seems, I do love where I live though since technically the redwoods are already "old growth" after they were planted in the 1920s iirc and old growth is harder to find in the UK, let alone the US
Broadleaf Old-growths however are far superior 💪
I really want some more horror factors/tone in this game man
that really makes me excited lol
I wonder where it leads to
if it's at the port...no clue lmfao
Obv somewhere more scary but like maybe there's a hidden tunnel system
oh does the ladder go down, it looks like its going up
if it's going down then that is REALLY REALLY INTERESTING
GUTS please oh please return to me at least to some capacity
Loo
Also AE aiming to repopulate ecosystems that were harmed by animals that failed to adapt to the warming world is cool I totally forgot about that
where do we even know this from theres like 0 lore ingame outside of just buildings
Mostly comments from Don
shhh forget i said anything
he's got a lot of juicy lore written down (i would love to read it o.o)
was supposed to be more extended by GUTS
sadly... might not happen
which is a bummer
Interesting indeed
also to add to what was said
Don also said dinosaurs are 'unfortunate but necessary'
Tragedy
Potato
Top 10 tragedies of isle
top 10 pinslop is the most tragest tragedy
Please stop gif spamming in #isle-lore-theories
fine!!
theres also this, i suppose
but it doesn't truly add to that comment though
Yessssssss, but do they have the dexterity to forge a 12lb cannon loaded with roundshot 🤔
Human Superiority >>>
Troodon hours
Anyone know where I can "start" the isle lore? I really want to get into it but i'm not sure where to start lol
I shoulda sent this yesterday to the person who was upset a doe killed their juvie rex
For once can we actually get a War of the Worlds adaptation that is a period piece?
They always modernize it, but I think it's a much better concept when it is set in the late 1800's
They always gotta give the machines energy shields and lasers and stuff so that it can hold up against modern weaponry, but it loses all the vibes
Gimme a WotW where you gotta escape on bicycle or horseback or carriage, where the best weapon you get is an old rifle
Give me the battle of London bridge, GOD that was cool in the book
Ok I'm done with the off topic
You can check out pinned messages and read or ask questions here
Using guns is gonna be such a high risk and should be like an absolute last necessity over life and death. The moment you shoot one off half the island is gonna hear it and then you'll have multiple things rapidly approach your direction lol
I cant wait for humans, exploring buildings, finding lore hints, possibly put together codes to access unreachable parts of the map
Ive been waiting so long to be a human and truly put yourself in absolute fear of dying in this game
If the devs pull it off, it will easily be a top tier horror game
https://youtu.be/UZtjlDiSQeY?t=67
I've been checking out this game every once in a few for a few years now
i really like the style they're going for
Everything shown here is pre-alpha gameplay. Features, visuals, and performance are still actively being worked on.
I apologize for any strong language and any inconsistency of audio volume in this video. It's a combination of clips from many different players with different audio settings
9:36 Multiplayer Gameplay begins
The December 2...
but
I would actually like some media based exactly off the book and its time period
would actually be very interesting
i suppose the end result will always be the same
but nonetheless would be very interesting
isn't this the game to which I was responding?
yeah
was just adding on a comment and a video 😔
I see
one would hope
but like
game with hunts turns into hunting game very quickly
the hope is that they balance it
but like
how
sadly we haven't really gotten any info over 12-ish, or just 7 for evrima, years on how they're truly planning to do this
one hopes it goes well
but. Yeah
im sure it will scale with calibre
i really hope that shotguns feel like shotguns and not follow the typical fps shotgun trope
and just turn smaller guns into nerfs
completely obliterates anything in its path? lmao
Shotgun munitions are diverse, depends what we get, slugs are going to be nasty but aren't going to have that spread, buckshot will definitely hurt but its probably wasted on a rex
bear in mind, how deep you have to penetrate before you hit anything vital
damn
nice to see the atrium getting some love
good to know its not just the sewers
but the whole thing
very interesting
curious on if we'll have to wait for the atrium to be completed before LAB IX is put in
i like the height to this
return of the overhead watching glasses as well
spooky red room as well
I love this

yummers
or red tinted glass
at my work we use a red tinted vinyl layer on the widows into the cleanroom
But it's probably just a red light
hard to tell
but it doesn't appear red in the darks
so probaby not
don't think we've seen properly tinted glass yet
maybe we have though. Would've been interesting though
definitely
i just wonder if they're holding back adding a lot more human buildings
or if they've changed their mind with putting LAB IX in
Red light typically is used for backup lights if I'm remembering correctly
because the last we saw of it, being a while ago now, it appeared quite done
ignoring the obvious more weathering to it, which Vis mentioned few dblogs ago
unless its a camera 'red room' lol
(but that would mean there shouldn't be any real outside light/glasses lol)
Red is also a light that most animals cannot detect
we do have red lights elsewhere though
I do wonder if there is a choice/reason for 'having red lights' or if it just looks cool
Red light travels the shortest distance
I've ony ever seen it used for concealement during war
Which would make a pretty cool usage for humans as well, a red light flashlight alternative that isn't just a massive beam saying "Come here for free food!"
Why does the first guess feel like it’s hitting a little too close to reality?
We have people that are trying to monopolize on the climate and there’s already people bringing back extinct animals. Is Don trying to tell us something? Apollo Engineering is just a fictional company, right?
It's not unrealistic

lol
mmm true true
looking at my PC now (better monitor)
it does seem like it is just normal glass and red lights
talking about lights though
i REALLY hope they still plan for this more green-tint like in the concept art and some screenshots we've have of stuff
it would be awesome
talking about red lights though... (see what i did there...)
other references of red lights
both technically being GUTS related
one at the entrances (cannot remember if they're still red though in-game? Has been a while now)
and also in the Industrial/Admin Hub modules for GUTS
in the more 'maintenance' section catwalk/corridor
Seeing all these new interior screenshots makes me wonder what a hypothetical interior sanctuary would be like
sanctuary?
Like imagine a partially collapsed building that’s been taken over by sanctuary plants
ah!
@ornate comet imagine something like this
but a bit more bruised
basically fully empty/fully weathered
which we really haven't seen yet, not properly
Yeah that’s what I was thinking
in lieu of the dome getting new updates on it
i stumbled upon the old Atrium interior concept arts from the archive server
Don if you read this
do you still plan on having the green-tinted lights?
the tech is already there, its just a painstaking process of individually placing the vines and doing all the texture mapping for wear and tear
but there is the lack of rusty textures in general too
quite so... at least UE5 has the thing for Visual to better generate weathered textures that variate
instead of being '1:1 same weathered wall' on everything lol
i reckon there'll come a time where they purely focus on making all the human structures properly weathered and then will we finally see human strctures and interiors looking good
thank you for another gif
anytime!
i do find it a tad painful
but i'm hopeful
I know this game gonna take a long time
and i don't really force myself to enjoy isle. Sometimes i feel good, sometimes i feel iffy or not good
but in the end
i do enjoy what i take out of it (a lot of it being lore)
i think i'm ok with waiting
especially with lore
yayyyyyy!!!
if Don can make something he can truly consider perfect for him or something he really does super enjoy
the downside being that we have to wait quite a while for Don to put it out all together, mostly
i think i can wait and do that
i suppose i already am
i would love to just know what % of what we know that already exists in Dondi's big ol' plan
i think in a perfect world (in my perfect world... of course, who knows if it would actually work or not)
but i think i would have it where i would be working towards putting all into a 'final product' sort of ideal
but, along the way, dropping comments on the whole products completion and/or dropping little bits of things you've made along the way
I don't think i'd show things i'd 'just done'
but probably things that were made a while ago that has had enough time to ferment and get review and feedback on it

I dont think thats entirely dissimilar to what Dondi is doing, but yeah, I too would love to just get everything in one big drop when everything else is ready
That might be what is happening to be fair, we just have videos, a few pieces of paper and humans on the map. I'd imagine Dondi would still keep a level of mystery behind what he chooses to share for us to find in-game, in order to keep the theorising part of this community alive. But I imagine there is a lot of information just sitting in some pile of notes we're going to get.
I know in particular I'd like to see some form of interactable ways of finding out information, i.e.: a running terminal/computer. Which you can use to log into and find out stuff and view things like additional trail camera footage, Incident Reports, a grid map, or even a new form of file format which can tell us information about things we barely have an understanding for at this given time. I dont know if we'll see a comeback for NPCs/Characters but also "Real-Time Documentation" where you can listen to scientists share information which tells us about the lore.
Im more than happy to wait but one thing I am fearful of is the lack of different mediums in which the lore is going to be conveyed to us in-game.
We have all these, and I would love to interact with them as a human and use them to uncover lore as opposed to going off of environmental storytelling, finding pieces of paper and discord dripfeeding.
connected to the red lights in the devblog?
maybe?
for something pretty old now
probs not
we've had a few red lights now
#isle-lore-theories message
one hopes
I cant wait to see the entrances to the actual biome inside, that bridge concept with the rocks looks so damn cool
stair case of death
gosh I really do hope they drop all the human stuff at once, its gonna be so cool and fun
the game for lore exploring will truly begin
wrong channel
soon™
it will be very fat
My fault gang
Ovi is love
i like the greenish lighting, reminds me of some areas in Dino Crisis
mmm
hey guys gen 1 humans died to cannibals right?
when you say 'humans', do you mean the monster humanoid Gen1s?
i mean as in tribal humans
back in legacy you could choose between mercenary and tribal humans but i heard the tribal humans died to cannibals
ah like these guys?
yip
ay we all hoping for humans to get machine guns and mow down trikes rexes and stegos right?
ah
i'll be honest with yah
they were always in a weird thing
like they existed for a bit
and yet they didn't exist
and Don never really publicly gave proper info on why they were removed
or how they existed in the first place
who knows they might return to evrima
but basically, from what we know
they existed for a tiny bit
Added as a placeholder till they make the actual "Gen1s"
which became, practically, this (#isle-lore-theories message)
jip this
also what even are this did Apollo try to mess with human genes or smth...
https://youtu.be/MwQEnZRzVLY?t=140
probably not
basically their idea was basically all unconfirmed roughly in 2018
but like. Who knows
knowing isle... anything is possible lol

★ The Isle - Gameplay, Funny Moments, New Dinosaurs, Updates - http://bit.ly/1WFPc...
from what we know
Began as a retaliatory product by AE as an overengineered answer to
the question of, “What if something hits AE?” ...
oh
are these guys the cannibals or completely different things
geez this lore is interesting
basically "Gen1s"
the 'idea of the cannibals' is better explain in this video #isle-lore-theories message
basically 'cannibals' is a better term for the Gen1s
even though he was referring to the 'eyeless creatures' as "cannibals"
but, Don clarified that the 'eyeless creatures' are not called "the cannibals" but have another name that will likely infer how to become the "eyeless" creature (or we just call it Unofficially "The Eyeless")
the eyeless
crazy design though that i hope they keep for them
cannibals will come...eventually
wonder how dondi plans to implement the humans hunting dinosaur thing again
if he ever plans to
he also refers the tribals and cannibals the same thing
at around 2:48
(but listen to the bit right after)
or i might just be misunderstanding
basically at 2:59
kk
"creatures on the right are a separate entity"
ahh
the famous version of this video is done by Catbug which removes that important bit at the end...
are these supposed to be the tribals?
well mostly lvl 1 appears to be
basically yeah
only thing to note is that the 'human tribals' didn't make up a majority of legacy development
about the red light convo from yesterday
different 'red' from the red light room
mayhaps...
I hope for more saturated lighting indoors
looks spooky
🙏
i need the two lights
#isle-lore-theories message
ah yes;
cubicle floor green
and
burning dungeon orange
the best lights
they're better then just boring flat white lights!
indeed
i need my [redacted] colour green and my tartarus orange
lol
but the yellowish-green really grabs my attention
it spews the most 'industrial' for me whilst still having a nice vibe
Isaac already has some good videos on his channel, but anything else is lore
There was I think a couple other small Ytubers who have tried a little something with the lore
But for Evrima, Isaac is the guy to look towards
I dont think there is much use doing a full video for lore seeing as we haven't got a lot and we reckon there is a lot more to come
Is the YouTubers name Issac or is it something else?
Hmm I swear I've heard of you before
🤔
lol
Blodshed 🗣️
what did I just read lmfao
my brain is too small to understand
<@&933486433342222376>
mods are slacking tut tut
wowzers, nearly 10 minutes
Bro no way somebody actually fell for it
<@&933486433342222376> we‘re getting mass casualties over here
no way
only 18 minutes later, this is diabolical!!!
Lol
what happend...
damn there really is a lot today though
Id be curious to know how many of them havent posted in months ngl
People who hate lore..
What if AE is sponsored by PepsiCo. I mean it wouldn't be cheap to make those dinos.
I think you‘re onto something
An Isle skin with the PepsiCo logo branded onto it. 💔
More likely sponsored by Cola Canth or Beipsi Java, which are canon brands in the lore
Just said it as a joke not serious lore.
Joking is what gets you down the rabbit hole of actual theories
Guys Batman owns AE. 😱
Were biome domes ever actually a canon idea (Canon as in something the devs originally planned for the early domes and not community assumption)
Well we've had atriums/aviaries for years, and their exact purpose might've flip flopped but we've never truly known.
I think if we got them in an alternate timeline where all four domes stayed, I’d have the south one be a “swampier” swamp with more wetland foliage and artificial fog and rain, the north one be a “highlandier” highlands with redder rock, canyons and rock spires for pteras, the east one be a small temperate coniferous forest with some rocky terrain and small caverns, and perimeter be either plain jungle or redwoods
I think biome domes was wishful thinking by the community and the small domes were truly placeholders for areas that would be added later all along and were never going to have more of a purpose than that
Im not gonna lie I can't for the life of me remember if perimeter is the only dome right now
It's been a long time
This image has single handedly taken up more space in my mind than I would like to admit. The implications in a single image for just HOW humans will interact with the world around them, their goals, and gameplay loops-have somehow culminated into making Mecha-Quetz? I'm hooked
We're tribals officially scrapped?
Ah that's my boi
Perfect dental care
The name was scrapped in favor of gen 1 and gen 2 iirc
Aaaahhhh, I figured something like that happened. Thank you for the clarification 😄
Yeee no problem
eh, they took the time to model the small domes, so I figure they planned to use them at some point
theyve spent time on plenty of placeholders
But map placeholders? We've seen lots of areas that are unfinished just sit as empty jungle, no need to model something so complex
I'm sure they wanted to use them, but the big structures act as obstacles that probably reduce flow between different parts of the map
Also the latest devblog mentioned challenges in giving various species a way to get into the dome without making the entrances a kill corridor. I imagine with smaller domes that would be an even more difficult challenge
cannibal reminds me of a bald xenomorph,
xenomorphs are already bald
sometimes things can be bald without being bald, or be balder than another bald. i know because i’ve experienced it but unfortunately i don’t have the knowledge and understanding to explain it
like my cat, he’s bald even though he’s not
wat
that's just genetics lol
is this so
i do think the small domes were definitely a lot more 'wishful' for the devs
but basically everything on Gateway is practically the same thought
very cool ideas and the whatnot
hopeful stuff
but will it come? Maybe
<@&933486433342222376>
are these pipes by east lake new?
new since the latest hordetest, yup. some sort of facility behind them, water treatment of somekind mayhaps.
it certainly looks similar to water treatment plants I've seen irl
The one's I've seen have been a bit higher out of the water, that lake is FULL
again broski
thanks
last update today? what they added ?
Wrong channel. The Evrima update was a mistake and has been since rolled back. The Hordetest update was mainly to add the new skin system. Keep in mind that it's a WIP and isn't finished.
Is there a place all the lore is posted? I checked the pinned messages but the site seems dead.
This is usually what I direct people to, there’s a bit more that’s not in here, so please ask if you have any questions https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J3FnAzKdtmlIYzTfgSlevTgGLcn8h-Zaxlqn3WEicVw/edit

Hell ye

lore
wait shoot thats sick
A random little catwalk?
Connected to nothing and suspended 60ft off the ground?
What the heck 😭😂
It wouldn't surprise me if the entire dam gets a remake, alongside the addition of whatever else is planned there
Something about the old concrete and the metal doesn't sit right with the latest concrete and metal
I think its supposed to be rust
there is definitely a new concrete texture
you can see it on a chunk sticking out of the damn with a garage door on it
5,000 metal and 5,000 concrete textures please sir
look what im doing
Nice
I feel like these terminals will be interactable in the future
Cameras?
and the one funny chair, different from the rest
Control room
New dock at the dam is cool, but pretty clearly unfinished
although the offices look really good
I hear a hummingbird mating display
It sounds like a running shoe squeaking on a floor
Hehehe
SUPERNATURE - WILD FLYERS premieres Wednesdays, June 29-July 13, 2016, 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET on PBS.
For its size the Anna’s Hummingbird has the fastest courtship display in the animal world.
It's really cool
It's a sound they make with their tail feathers after pulling out of a high dive
chair lore
hopefully
now we have this habour master, the one at east dock
plus the 'terminals' at the new 'water treatment' area that looks like one of the concept arts
oh I hadn't really explored the new part of K15, I didn't realize it was like a separate little complex
ye
its a neat little walk
i don't think theres anything new in it
but it has the 'big RnR lodge'
i was gonna comment that that area now has more to it (that we're getting more of the gateway leak map)
but like
we technically already have that building, kinda. Just on the side rather then coming out of the dam
but now theres two of them. Just the new one being a sort of dock
curious on the logistics of that dock/port though
AE U331
no clue what it means but its close to the bridge going up to redwoods from WA
y e s
strange though
its always been U331
i don't think we've gotten anything similar
lol
soon ...
this is our life
i think i have accepted it
i live my life. Then when stuff happens, whenever it happens, it'll happen
but likely not any time soon
we are not the priority. We're just an endgoal.
@acoustic osprey do you know what this is called
ya
ive seen that one, it big
(Dinosaur Transport Area)
it looks like its not like a modular build, which is why I want it LMAO
cheers
yay
DOME!
looks a bit weird
couldnt finish top
it broke. and sides are a lil broken
lol
X-Files theme
I cannot touch anymore. its 5gb just for that
if you have it in a background or something it would work fine
Where’s the lore
I eated it
its that same mysterious light thing again... @acoustic osprey
aliens!!!
allosaurus
the flash
If you fly up there as a ptera you can see extremely large hydraulic pistons, so easy bet
They’re roughly modelled, since when would you ever see them other than as a bird, but they are present
I'm not sure if they are pistons or just a clamp system
Like I think they are tension cables
Hmm, they just look so piston like to me, a larger outer diameter, hinged looking mount point, inner diameter attached to what is maybe the roof hatch #isle-lore-theories message
Until they get some texture to them, they are pretty generic greebles though
At it’s rest angle though, it certainly does look like it would be a strain to pull them open
is it based off real life?
not really
I dunno
elite ball trunk
they should build it in real life
and make it like a beach so that folks who cant go to the beach can go to the beach
I dont even think a glass structure on that scale is even possible
as cool as it looks, and all costs aside, i think it would collapse under is own weight
you're just jealous
That's what they said about the cathedrals !
:(
sorry
Must have been a night fury
we love actual ingame documents
soon soon...
Extras menu opens to collected documents. Info about each species is discovered by killing, getting killed by, encountering, grouping with them, getting nested in, nesting as, reaching 100%. Alternatively the species documents can be found in the map and will fill out the entire section for its species
Thoughts
it would be incredibly awesome
heck
even embedding the EXTRAs tab as the terminal
renaming it maybe something more lore-themed?
but i think having documents in-game then being 'unlocked' into the terminal
not just the glance sheet species documents as well, but all
unless Dondi wants to do some crazy things
where we have different or multiple ways to 'get' a document/video/lore-object/etc in-game
like maybe a very 'cryptic' or unique document can only be obtained through a bit of a 'lore hunt' mission
where you might have to type in a certain strand of code
how do you get that code?
You found another document in-game at K15 (lets say)
but how did you find that document?
either you found it by chance or... maybe a Lore Video posted on YouTube was filmed at K15 and the description told us (crypitcally) to go there. Or some sort of 'external push' to go to K15
I can’t wait for the lore to get even more in depth
I was wanting to learn animation so I could do a short film about Apollo and stuff on blender, cause I reckon that would be cool as hell but I might just wait for a while until like I said the lore becomes more indepth and we know what the incident was or have subtle clues, because I think we don’t know what it was right
It be crazy if the incident had something to do with strains being made or like going rouge or something like that or the replicator
Agreed man
lol
Don't lol me... 😔
haha
'The incident'
More then one my friend...
I need to readup on lore again
If you ever make a creepy blender render still
I can always CRT it and make it feel a bit more
I forgive you!
But maybe worth doing it in the future
Nothing against lore as it is
But it is a bit tame at the moment
Waiting for when Don wants to put lore into the forefront of things in some way
what happened to rhe white cannible things
replaced with Gen 1s (technically but not so technically)
will they ever be added?
i dont think they would have worked on them if they werent going to
damn
the ones with or without eyes?
the answer will change depending on what you mean, basically
long mofos without eyes or eye sockets
which basically still exist. But have an unofficial name of "The Eyeless"
and were described as a sort of Gen1.5
or..
your monsteroid humanoid fellas
which have been morphed, as Run said, as the "Gen1s"
you will always be cannibal to me....!
<@&401466542140817419>

sammy
@acoustic osprey gateway is theorized to be in SE asia or somewhere relatively close, right? does that change with the updated foliage and such? iirc thats how we generally determined gateways
i didnt like that
anyway we used that to theorize on gateways location iirc
you could probably update this now with redwoods as well
Dark green is areas with a lot of Gateway's plants, light green areas only have a few
(vegetation, coming from JollyRaptor's document)
neato
climate wise so far, it honestly feels like California. just missing the desert 😂
we do have invasive eucalyptus, idk about invasive acacia
we have invasive acacia
Gateway does feel like California
Especially now that the Redwoods are on the Island
it looks pretty close to what we have going on environmentally
Wait are you a fellow Californian?
legit feels like a game and houseles version of california, but with a jungle lol
yah i am
Yooooo, also yeah, it’s like a California that has reclaimed itself from humanity
mhmm
Tho idk any part of California that has acacia trees
Wait we need some Sakura Trees now
it would be planted in residential areas for the most part
not hard for something to become invasive in the right conditions tho
Yeah true
Especially since there isn’t really anything that would eat them unlike where they are from
tree killers are typically not a thing unless it's like strangler vines or other parasitic plants but typically the climate is what would kill of most plants species if they're not adapted for it
maybe AE's CEO is also from Cali
and wanted to recreate it botanically and geologically
@indigo nebula
Dude they probably blocked you. You’re gonna get busted for spam pinging them
Let's stop the spam pinging, thank you.
since we're not waiting for "evolution" to create new dinosaurs and the corporation/biological division are doing it instead. Do you think they could expand "humanoid" and dinosaur splicing... what if they created a mega dinosaur, that even nature was like "hell naaaw...". A dinosaur that they thought they could control and limit... but it beats all estimates and grows far beyond what they wanted... a revival of the ancient titanic lifeforms, made real!
one day, maybe
like a Leviathan!
I mean...there is the old ass Island Walker mention
I look forward to this one the most.
So the matriarch exists. There’s fan concept done by tap and it’s basically an evolving monstrosity
This is the final form to the series
To quote Tapwing's comment underneath the post:
*"The waters have gone murky recently, but we’ve been able to keep an eye on it’s location on the ocean depth.
We let it be, till numerous unidentified bodies were reported across the oceans surface and our research ship was able to confirm the current state of the ————-.
The ————- is falling apart.
It’s back split open and thinly scabbed over. It’s shedding flesh, partially formed torsos and growing malformed limbs.
This project’s flaw has become glaringly clear. without some form of genetic off switch, this endless growth is useless. It’s body constantly trying to recreate extremities and internal structures it already has.
Thankfully, there’s a possible fix, but not for this specimen.
No, it is time to retire this ————-.
Project concluded."*
its last form just looks like evolution did it dirty
how is that thing doing damage to anything
it's dying
that's why
it's gotten that big it's starting to fall apart on itself
or that's what i interpret tap's concept notes for it
ooooo
hmmm... but it is problematic. It's uncontrolled growth, leads to it's own destruction. I wonder if they could implement something like that in the game... It would actually fit kind of well in the current system of "prime age", since everything either dies of starvation or of old age.
But it sounds like it would work well in a more... aquatic environment. It sounds more like a necrotic beast from Warframe more than anything... twisting, evolving mass of bio-engineered flesh trying to make sense of itself, but failing.
But what if it didn't... 😏 an ever evolving beast, that absorbs the flesh of it's victims. The more it consumes, the longer it lives.
the matriarch will still exist
but instead of it being stages
it'll be something like Kirby — eating and then taking the traits off what it ate
mmmm, interesting.
Oh
quite so quite so
You ain’t built for this island son
<@&933486433342222376>
what is this?
I'll admit, the Collusus thing interests me the most... I envision some kind of... t-rex vs weird dino-hybrid King Kong battle going on 🤣 I wonder what size it can reach. From it's art work, it looks.... like a huge... the fact that it can punch a Sauropod enough to hurt it really bad, or wrestle a t-rex... thing must be absolutely HUGE
it definitely looks like a carnivore... but it'd be interesting if it was an Omnivore, able to sustain itself on meat and plants.
its fighting a Hypo rex, (you can tell by the back plates) too, so, its pretty darn huge,
Perhaps Apollo made the type h and all those to combat the matriarch and possibly patriarch would lend the hypos lives being more than just a by product imo
wth is with the hypo giganasaurus though... look like a t-rex that got intimate with a Yautja...
does look really cool though
That's princess they don't bite
I would love something more "solid" rather than concept art tbh
we have stuff that is solid
but lore is not a priority
So, thus, its just really really slow/back of the line
I am not gonna compare dark souls to the isle because that would be unfair for various reasons but I do not feel the weight or mystery behind the map or any of the human-side structures.
We play as dinosaurs, we get mutations and we are in a remote island, I've played the game for 700 hours and still feel like even after exploring south to north I got very little in terms of "lore".
Would like something more "solid" and right now or I read old documentations from concept art or find videos on the main the isle channel
I'd like more suggestive stuff but I am sure we'll see in the future, I don't feel very curious about it right now and that's a shame
practically what i said before
ain't really in the forefront of things
yeah but I'd like to learn more about it if you guys found something
there are things slowly brewing in the background
but publicly, we are just in the slow burn of waiting
like any youtube lore videos and such
soon...

We can only fill in the blanks with our own universes for now.
nothing really new with the terminal, it appears
oh i think i've seen something i was not supposed to see
It happens 😞
we never hear from isaac again, immediate lineage displacement and tartarus relocation.
The isle AU begins

I regret to have eyes to witness the John Cake's reborn form..... 😭
Scratch that.
We're just restarting from step 1 practically.
The concept blueprint is still there.
Its true.
Its true.
niche
I love that
I have the original clip saved to my pc haha
it was terrible what i saw
for context though
due to the nature of this discord
I will leave it at that
the horrors we witnessed isaac. the horrors.
Oh... Yeah... I've had that misfortune
yeah don't go on replay with a gen2
lol
never noticed the name on the clock was Time-Machines before.
but also they could be apart of an asset pack. isaac would know.
but he's in tartarus.
What if climbing equipment/supplies like rope or picks could be found in some human bases as rare drops and other human structures can be land-locked onto cliffs or dangerous mountains where that sort of thing would be needed to explore or get to. that would be pretty cool.
If they can climb the ivy growing on the side of buildings that’d be pretty cool
I would love to harass humans as ptera or quetz if they tried to climb around like that lol
they do be, yeah
I'm curious what kind of tools the human will be able to make in order to survive the isle. Since it is by surely the weakest and less naturally adapted killer. The human's ability to survive is based on resourcefulness. Perhaps collecting urine and other chemicals to create blinding tools or bones to create primal weapons.
I hope they will have access to weapons. I'm sure the corporation being what it is, always has access to an armory, filled with anti-human and anti-dinosaur weaponry. Maybe tranquilizer guns or shotguns.
You get a flashlight take it or leave it
guns
I don't think the gen2 will be able to craft much tbh
Moreso relying on what they can scavenge in facilities
ye
probably potentially more of a Gen1 thing
but did/does AE need Gen1s to have such ability?
Could be an ability they developed after being left unchecked on an abandoned island
They don't necessarily the average Gen1 Joe to be able to craft himself a bow for their missions, but maybe after spending years on an island with no purpose he'll have made one out of boredom
mmmm
true true
The Replicator definitely may give them such
(looking at its past stuff like with AUGUSTUS, etc)
I wonder how that'll translate into gameplay though since Don said not all tribals will be equal in terms of intelligence
Some being able to make pretty complex stuff, while others would be more animalistic
Like, will players have a choice between different kinds of Gen1s with different capabilities, or will it be a kind of "path" to choose ?
Or maybe that will remain as just a lore thing and players won't have any restrictions
even within physicality as well
some being 'weak' to climb (being swept off by weather) and some being stronger
so, thus, there a different 'physical builds'
mmmm
🤣 I mean... I'm used to dead by daylight and blinding killers... so I suppose i could blind dinosaurs too
water guns 😏 give the dinos a refeshing zap with the fruity zapper, so they won't eat me
hey guys just wondering if theyre any good videos to watch?
for the lore? @acoustic osprey might have some on his YT channel, hes the big lore guy. im not totally sure tho, ive never checked his channel
its just Lightclaw on youtube
funny enough im watching one right now
on what is apollo and if ive learnt anything, its a almost agricultural company correct?
also could the island be a gateway to tartarus or hell in some sort. Maybe a deep underground cave with flowing lava
A prison maybe?
From what we understand, Tartarus seems to be some sort of storage facility/prison for data and/or organisms
Being sent to Tartarus is written like it is a punishment, and yet we also know that some event occurred in Tartarus that lead to a loss of knowledge that has been described as similar to the destruction of the Library of Alexandria (something to do with a rival company or maybe another group within the same company)
also check out the lore document in the pinned messages, if you haven't already
oh i will thnak you very much!
i will be back and will spew as much as i can for you
(He’s hibernating to play subnautica 2)
Thank you so much kind sir
can sm1 explain to me the classes of humans, for ex Rogue
That’s all a bit outdated, I imagine humans will just scavenge what they can get in Evrima
i thought they would have been like clearance levels and do quests or smth for guns
No quests
Objective is to survive
any idea on how they'll get higher clearance than?
I imagine clearance levels would be scavenging passkeys and the like
Find a higher level access card to get to more secure areas
are you eventually able to pick gen 1 cannis then get gen 2 by a strain or is there like a method where you might have to eat a human
You choose to spawn as a gen 1 or as a gen 2
i thought gen 2 were like hypos and tissus
or wtv
Gen 2 is just humans, but like, perfected humanity
Gen 1 are the humanoid monsters
oh like this
hyper/tisso/neuro are strains, and will probably come to Gen 1 but not Gen 2 (also dinosaurs)
Are you familiar with the concept of EIP's?
i am not
An Embryonic Intelligence Profile
From what we fans have gathered, it's basically a downloaded consciousness, and it seems it could be put into human (Gen 2) or dinosaur bodies (and probably Gen 1 too)
ohhhhhhhhhh
They were perfecting humanity because they were selling functional immortality
thats wild
At least, this is what we've gathered from the tidbits that Don tells us
do you think youll be able to interact with the strains as it
Gen 2?
Nah they won't get strains at all
mhm intresting
Different gameplay
I think strains will be connected to the current mutation and elder system in some way (many of the mutations kinda share theming with the strains)
i was looking at the matriarch concept and i know its unofficial but i feel like obtainment for it is maybe like a gen2 concept where you sorta lay an egg and reincarnate as it and have to end up getting a different strain
That crab is giving me giant enemy spider vibes
To begin with, about Apollo Engineering...
it’s not that they’re an agricultural company.
I’m curious if you’re saying that because I might have said that in my YouTube video, and if I did say Apollo is a purely agricultural company, forgive me as that’s just an issue with the video. As its more of an assumption... coming from a quote from Dondi
It’s not that they aren’t agricultural in some sense, but we’re not really too sure what they actually do (in regards to 'agriculture')
Because all we technically got from Don about that is that they make 'food'
But, for example, fast food companies make food, they just aren’t agricultural companies... doesn’t mean they farm it themselves.
Sure, they may fund agricultural operations, but you wouldn’t say McDonald’s is an agricultural company.
So, we don’t know if Apollo is truly agricultural.
We just know they make food, and we know they started in botany, and somehow from botany into food and into dinosaurs. Somehow.
Not that they made food from dinosaurs, or vice versa. We know that ain't the case. They didn’t do that.
But yeah, heck we don’t even know if they still do food.
whatever 'still' means anyways
When are we playing? What time period/era are we talking about for AE/Apollo? Pfft... we'll one day get better info on timeline stuff
Another thing is that we don't even know if “food” was something Dondi was referring to as part of Apollo Engineering specifically, or just the larger Apollo franchise/mother corporation/entity. IF there is an overarching Apollo corporate entity of sorts
Maybe Dondi was talking specifically about 'Apollo', and Apollo had a subsidiary that handled food.
Maybe Apollo started purely as just Apollo Engineering, working in botanical sciences, and then later expanded into a larger parent corporation, with Apollo Engineering becoming one subsidiary underneath it. Then maybe a second subsidiary was created to handle food production.
We know there are subsidiaries like Apollo Pharmaceuticals North, Apollo Red, and Mercury Beneficial, so maybe Apollo Red was the food company. Maybe.
We ain't got any clue.
Second bit: could the island be a gateway to Tartarus, or Hell in some form?
Basically what we believe (practically 'know'. Unless things have changed...). But yeah, that’s the general idea.
When Dondi first teased “Gateway” in Evrima's lore, I said, “Is it a gateway to Tartarus?” and he inferred yes.
And so we know that Tartarus is connected to Gateway. That’s practically confirmed. At least was.
Of course, we all wish we had thicker, more direct lore (like a proper video or document) but we’re working with what we have.
Lore sits in the background of development, so we piece things together as best we can...
However, about Tartarus
I don’t imagine Tartarus as just a generic copy-and-paste version of Hell, or even exactly what Tartarus is/was in the many versions of Greek mythology.
I’m pretty sure, like many other things in this universe, Dondi uses Greco-Roman symbolically more rather than more in the literal sense. (not at a stab at what you thought though!)
For example, Apollo Engineering isn’t a company that tells fortunes, sings/makes music, or rides chariots just because it’s called “Apollo.” It’s a company that brings things back to life. That’s the symbolic use of the name.
That’s what I like about Dondi’s writing: using Greco-Roman references (and some Abrahamic references too, especially Jewish mythology).
I think that’s a good thing, and really neat.
Thought Tartarus being a giant underground lava cave would be cool, I think (personally) it would also feel a bit shallow
Now, as you said: could Tartarus be a prison?
That’s actually a great idea.
From what we’ve seen, we know Tartarus is some kind of prison... but it’s also a creation facility.
In legacy lore, it was basically only a creation facility (for strains and large projects like the Matriarch).
We know it has that role still, though, because of Augustus. His replicants were left there, implying things are created there.
However, it’s not just a creation facility anymore. Being used as a warning or punishment for workers (as you know).
I kinda like referring it to like the idea of Shrek during early DreamWorks Animation development.
When DreamWorks was making The Prince of Egypt, being sent to work on Shrek was basically a punishment project. If you look at early Shrek development, it was chaotic, ugly, and seen as a doomed project ... basically a write-off.
Obviously, that changed, and it became an amazing film, but at the time it was seen as punishment.
That’s kind of how I think of Tartarus (the punishment bit): a place where you get sent to work if you’ve done something against AE rules.
Also, hust to fact-check one small thing from Tiny
The idea that Tartarus had some event that caused a loss of knowledge, this isn't correct.
She’s mixing that up the “Library of Alexandria” concept with the TOMB (a subsection of the Replicator, relating to EIPs)
So its a completely separate thing
Just a small correction to Tiny's statement, though, just so we’re clear on that.
@quaint crest sorry, took a while to write
Ty so much I’ll read it soon I just have to get to school first
Theoretically can’t you find out or get a rough estimate of the timeline from tracking long-term solar cycles or measuring star positions and identifying the celestial pole?
Also I thought it wasn’t just a punishment for the worker but for the workers family lineage
I used to think reaper, echidna and colossus were strains of humans
I think they are Gen 1 strains
They are not reptiles?
That means they are mammals?
still confused about this concept of the game world and this "tartarus". The company sounds like your typical multi-national billionaire (or trillionaire) biotech mega corporation that can basically do whatever it wants (and has).
The world has some form of food shortages (the poultry riots) and this megacorp seems to have been given the responsibility (or maybe it is just one of the many that took the opportunity) to find a way to reverse that food shortage.
With one branch of it's experimentation divisions, it created these dinosaur strains (maybe similar to the jurassic park movies, where they did this in order to increase human life potential and cure diseases). But now it has also created these other strains that are more... weapon-like than actually useful in a civilian way. They are increasingly furthering the boundaries of science (for good or ill) with no one to control them... except it also seems maybe they have lost control?
But what is this tartarus idea... Lightclawed's recent post gives me the impression that it is a location to dispose of (or punish) people and failures. But there has to be something more... would a mega corporation really create such a place, just to play God (even more than they already have) and punish people? 😏 obviously money for a mega corp is no longer an issue, since they practically control world government and organizations anyway, but what is the purpose of this? you'd think a bullet to the head and shredding into usable biomatter/feed is more efficient and cost -effective (Mega Corporations are ALWAYS about Efficiency and Cost-Efficiency).
My theory is Tartarus is also a testing site, so if you break your contract, you volunteer yourself to be put into some of the more grotesque or painful experiments a few times
It didn’t say family lineage, just lineage, which may be an important distinction
I thought they were
The new reaper looks a lot more gen 1 derived
mmmm... so it's probably a place where experiments of severe and high risky levels are conducted and if the subject dies, it doesn't really matter.
Can you send like a ss
frend
Mhm
We need tissoplastic reaper plushies as merch
Also lineage means a direct descent of ancestor or smth so but I forget what fully pops up when you need clearance
@marble fossil No. Don’t be weird.
Tisso Rex looks so fun
🤣 fair enough.
Yep, which I think could apply nicely to EIPs and their “rebirth” process
Ohhh that would make sense
It could also mean that old MMORPG from the 2000s
But that wouldn't make much sense so I don't think it means that
I don’t know why I didn’t just use the word replication
Since it kinda shows they are going into weaponized biotech experiments... it wouldn't surprise me if they attempted to make human-hybrid super soldiers (is kinda what I was getting at). Like the Saurus from Warhammer.
That makes more sense than using dinos as weapons at least
I mean, with the right controls... anything can be made into a weapon 😏
But it's sooo useless
a golden retriever with freakin laser beams!
Gen 1 are stated to be weapons
yeah, I gathered that by the way their abilities are. But it seems they have lost control over them already.
That or Gen1 were left without a purpose after the island got abandoned and just went feral
Makes me wonder how much control AE actually had over them
Wait
What if they're like that Avatar bs with the blue people
Where Gen1s aren't just thrown into enemy facilities like rabid animals, but rather AE employees get their consciousness temporarily transferred into them so they can wreak havoc thoughtfully
Agree to disagree
that would be interesting.
Would be kewl
That just makes the image of a Gen1 with a bulletproof vest and a M16 pop in my head and I don't think I like it
what if we the players... are the employees though? and are just acting out what we perceive as natural instinct? 😏
Definitely possible the players represent EIPs given how we move from body to body when we die
We also know eips can go somewhat feral, though some don’t, which I think happens when you turn on the lizard brain when playing lol
I mean... looking at the playerbase sometimes... I've definitely seen some feral things 😛
What’s with the cringe emojis? Regardless, lore explanation for player behavior is a fun thing to explore
I like them.
player behaviour is strange. I don't think i've ever heard of Herbivores intentionally killing other herbivores (among dinosaurs). for amusement. The idea of herbivores intentionally playing solo is also very strange, considering most are "herd" animals that like to be among others (especially since it likely means survival).
We saw herbivores attacking other herbivores in the Atlas video
never saw it, were they also the same species?! that's madness... I've never heard of it
Trikes and dibbles
though to be fair, im no dinosaur expert
hmmm... I can understand attacking (territory, food, mating emotions, etc) it's normal behaviour, but not intentionally killing... that just seems very odd, even among general animals (carnivores included).
this is so cool... are those actual players though?!
