I didnt mention this to you in DMs but I got the code sent to me via DM. I was not mad to have my lore hunt ruined, I was relieved to have avoided wasting my time.
I had already spent a few hours trying as many 4 character combinations as possible, and with Dondi taunting me further I was ready to commit several more hours. I am far more dissapointed in the hunt itself, than the people who datamined it.
I wish I never got involved with this in the first place, but that doesn't change that I really just wanted to give Islecord a nudge with the image I sent to light a fire under their ass. I was wanting to give other hints and clues until it was figured out as well, but obviously decided against it. Didnt matter much since it was figured out either way.
So no, I did not find it legimately, nobody did, technically.

I dont really care if it got solved or not because the hunt was never good in the first place for a puzzle like this to be anything more than spamming random things that came to mind, it would need go have some level of feedback, or at least some kind of clue or direct mention elsewhere. The code hidden between glitches in a lore video, a link found in game, graffiti on a structure, audio pieces to put together... anything.
This was never anything.
To that end, I dont have a reason to care.
The lore hunt was nice while people still had the illusion that it had anything to do with the lore, now that the illusion has been broken, I think it is naive to say that it was ever a real hunt to begin with.
Even the first "Lore Hunt" had something in game to be found.

Im glad the hunt is over, because it was a really bad hunt. Unless something is specifically designed around datamining, as some ARGs in other games tend to be, I am outright against datamining ruining things like these. The lore hunt previously was not able to be datamined, there was nothing in the games code to be actually... mined. Or, preventative measures should be put in place, in the same way there is at least some attempt to obscure the elder requirements in the game.
Datamining being used as a tool to skip past the puzzle part of a puzzle, and straight to the solution is lame... however, this is not a puzzle. It cannot be treated as such. I am not aligned with the dataminers, however, I am glad to have been leaked it, as it saved me from several hours of frustration. In this case, and this case alone I am fine with datamining as the outcome.
As I said, without it, this whole thing would be an absurd waste of everyone's time. Its very likely that with no input, from datamining or dondi, it would not be found. I am more relieved that this damn thing is over, than angry it was datamined.

I didn't promote it, nor did I even datamine it, I was told the password and kept it a secret. I told no one. Well other than Tiny because I think she deserved to know at least half of the equation. That being the password is not 4-5 digits long. But other than that no one knew.
I myself didn't have enough time or the will to just spam the keyboard for hours straight. So when a certain person reached out to me whether I'd like to know it. I used it.
I kept it a secret, I didnt use the information to go telling everyone the password and getting youtube clout.
If someone datamines it, cool, that was their decision to ruin it for themselves. Devs fault for not hiding it.
And as far as I know everyone that I know that datamined it did not once go around screaming the password and ruining it for others.

The only thing I’ve ever been fine with data mining is music tracks, because there is literally no other way to access them.
