So all other strains are derived from M strain they are the alpha
no no no, read what i wrote here #isle-lore-theories message
its the total opposite
The strain can easily be the counterparts of eachother
N strain lacks the strength, it is pure brains and mental abilities
H strain is driven by it's primordal instincts - eat to survive. If it doesn't, it dies
T strain... this is the least we have an info of, and it is being reworked, but for now we can think it's the... stability of the body functionality?
T strain could help to regenerate the missing parts the N-body has, and H-strain is there to gain the muscle mass
So:
T-strain: to regenerate the missing organs and tissues
N-strain: normal brain and neurosystem function
H-strain: muscle mass and strength, along with normal metabolism regulation
but, althought she's the last, and for that.. shes the best
this is really what i meant
sorry if i worded it so badly it wasnt any obvious
So matriarch will be invulnerable
Didnt see it in your text anywhere sorry 😔
what i was saying
N strain had physical flaws
H strain had mental/survival flaws
T seems like a sweet spot
Like doomsday from Superman
T isnt a sweet spot because it needs 2 more to regulate it, and something to STOP the process of regeneration and chaotic growth of new limbs and tissues
isnt it matriarch that had the chaotic infinite growth?
AE seems to had failed an attempt to find that STOP-reagent
Or did, and simply wanted to see what will happen
Yes, but
Matriarch isnt canon
this single word
matriarch
canon or not
Will we ever see this in game
Supposed to be a temp name and was removed
But now it is back
So...
Hi USER!!!!!!!
Hi
uhm its an USER
Sorry....my bad....
It was
Just taps stuff wasn't
That's what I meaaaaaaan
Which her stuff brings a lot of confusion
u said its not at all
Alright, tell me what info we know of Evrima matriarch
me when fanart is so good it looks so not so fan
official fan art no fan
Because there was legacy lore on Matriarch
Not much but some
She can eat things and take attributes of it
fan. art. 🥀 😔
And doesn't help Tap turned into a dev
lol fr
And the legacy lore is no longer canon
So while she is being reworked
The INFO!!! about it is not canon
The old stuff
Not the new stuff, that is
but.. i want to speculate and build tons of stuff on pure speculations to be turned to dust by a single dondi qoute 😔
Cause there is 'one thing' on Matriarch for Evrima
But it would be good when we get hard lore for it
What do we know about Matriarch in Evrima 🙏
This...
That's the only thing?
Yes
Uh......
The "available info about T strain" situation is even worse than I thought...
@hallow ruin please create a fanart of matriarch .... It will be awesome
appreciate that you want to see me make one 😄 ❤️
i have had them in mind, and i'm really not sure whether to do N-type or Matriarch..
what would you decide for 😅
N spino tongue/EMP attack is so interesting
a matriarch model is ALSO very interesting
Matriarch
We know how a H variant will look ... N variant should have a bigger skull .... But the M variant will be a mix of all
Who writes the lore for the game ?
dondi
Then why the game doesn't follow the lore
I think the time we play is set later than stuff we have
Aftermath is it ?
unsure where in the timeline it sits as we dont have very much to go on as far as im aware
We can see empty places all over the place
yeah so I would imagine that we the players are somewhere further in the AE/isle story and as gen 2 we will get to uncover the story of how we got to where we are lore wise
like the game itself could take place 15 years after the major events we know of for example
But all the dangerous boyz are held in TARTARUS
there’s been mention yeah about the islands and/or facilities being abandoned ina way
It's seemingly likely that tartarus got cracked open
We think it was either a rival company or dissidents within Apollo itself
A lore question I wonder is to do with Rugops, from its art it seems to be a hunter of humans, I was wondering if this is something the species adapted to after being brought back, if it was a trait from an abberrant individual similar to augustus or if it was a malicious and intentional choice by scientists for whatever reason
if it even has a lore reason for eating people out side of that being its game niche so to speak
what does this mean?
i presume you mean
why don't all gameplay elements correlate exactly with isle lore
which, in legacy, it actually did
but, for the most part, it is very very hard to do and basically never truly done in video games
because games are a medium different from other means and mediums of storytelling
so limitations exist when transferring word and video into video/'other medium'
i believe so
We have quite a few, now, concept arts showing 'weathered down isle facilities'
and we know Don wants more weathering at Docks plus 'overgrowth' vines on buildings (said on the recent devblog iirc)
so definitely an indication that some time has past
how much time though?
yeah...
2172?
'minimalism' logo?
quite a few overgrowth artworks
(i wish for the 3rd facility in-game! Having floor-to-ceiling glass is pretty sick)
but!
definitely a few things that MAY lead to a possible 'we're' playing some time in the future
for sure
I understand those are likely just generic vines/plants but if they do bare resemblance to a specific species perhaps we could use the time it take that species to grow to that size as a rough indication of time, though thats likely reading into it to much
assuming no but do any of our trail cam/lore videos use these codes
most likely not in my opinion..
these codes are just things referred to in the document
291-C is the 'abstract map' that is torn in two
but we have none of the rest
ah right
and likely wont get any more of either
because Don said we'll be getting and have gotten 'one time characters' (paraphrasing)
but basically
minute characters like ERRANT-291 that have only a short story
but their themes and ideas brought around it lead to bigger pictures
likely allowing us to better understand what happened with them
im just trying anything to make out more text in that file im assuming its not possible
pretty much nothing
sigh
always been a big wow lore fan I want to do the same here but I cant crack it so far just need to wait for more I guess
read through the document n such
you have visited here in a bit of a long long drought currently...
true
it is a shame
i do wish to see some things
still lost in the sauce
tar tar sauce 😔
looks like boxes imo
unless you're just talking about the vines in general
which if you read the my splerg ... 😔
i already make reference to (normal vines though) from the dblog
The leaves were to be reminiscent of our ivy that’s going to be used on buildings and such in the future
although
ivies, not explicitly 'vines'
I just thought the outlines were similar
If tartarus is broken where is the gate ?
I really think the game is going for something like jurassic park 2 as a hole, especially with the scene of the hunt
whole vs hole
guh you get what I mean🙏
according to the old console interaction, gateway (which i assume is what you’re referring to) was the rear connection facility between I-01 and I -02, but that’s old sauce nowadays i believe
@fierce cradle
Can we mention dondi ? And ask him if we will ever see his creations in the game?
🌝
no
Too bad 😕
Right now the game doesn't have that much element to keep people interested I guess ... This things will surely amp up the game
Can we give some suggestions too ?
hell let loose 🔥
okey dokey ill work my way into it 😄 !
Yes please I saw ur bio .... Those are great
tysm 🥹
Bonjour
salut
Hallo
Hola
Sup
Konnichiwa
Hallo
привет
This is what I wanted to do but I thought the automod would snipe a different language...
привіт
automod wouldn't for that, since it would be unfair for those who genuinely don't know
only english in chat!!!
Naniiii?!?!!
¿Que?
come on Dondi PLEASE 😭
also are the magna's a part of evrima or are they left behind in legacy?
Left behind
Matriarch is still planned
Well, still a thing, dunno if it’ll ever be in game, I hope so
herbi strains do have a chance of existing though, said by Don himself. Which is good.
but will they explicitly come? who knows
nice, very nice
will it be unique strains as well? like strain plants do
that would be interesting
anyway i got a class to attend, cya
NOOOO
ciao! Good luck
thanks
is there an evrima hypo rex redesign?
yes
is it that one with the tusks?
lol
Yeah not many were a fan of the tusk like teeth, Okxul made a pretty cool edit one time and Chip
will the other hypos be getting a redesign?
likely all, honestly
i think it will look badass with a skin
it does look a little strange how armored the face is compared to the neck, neck looks like a low taper fade
I like hyper carno’s ram horns, I hope they keep that or something similar
hyper carno to me looks the most perfect out of all 3 hyper models
HADES
I liked Hyper Giga the most tbh
has the unique trait of those horns which fits in with what’s going on with hyper rex now
i mean on coolness factor i agree
feels a little out of place imo but that’s just subjective, hypers can have whatever traits dondi decide
i don’t know what determines the unique traits in them
giga and spino both having the split jaw
maybe it’s a dramatized version of their specializations? giga and spino both have split jaw but different versions of it
unfortunately legacy models 😢
rex kinda has a 1v1 reputation so it has the huge tusks for big damage
Rex got de chompers
giga has pack mentality with bleed, split jaw has teeth inside which i guess equals better tearing
spino is a pescivore or whatever the name is, it splits its jaw to eat bigger easy prey
i don’t know i’m guessing here
yeah that’s the problem legacy hyper rex no speciality, but it was the first hyper model right?
not to mention colossus looks like a lizard gorilla, truly the human specialty is return to monkey
i wish we had more information on strains
will always be a fan of this boy
I'm curious what the strain transformations will look like
That should be interesting
We need to see the rest of the Trinity Evrima Concepts... please.. 🙏
Before and after screenshots could be neat
I mean the midway point
because a big feature of this game is growth and the ways that the models change over time
I feel assured that they'll use this feature for strains
Oh, like the development of the creature getting strains before it’s fully fledged, yeah, that’ll be cool
Half-neuro should be revolting
There’s also the “click e to break glass” idea
I feel like it will be an adult-only thing, probably tied into elders somehow
And connecting it to mutations seems fun and logical
Yeah I agree, probably
Looking at the list, a lot of the mutations could have connections to strains
paging dr whyse...
did we ever, in game, get the reading lore mutation?
I cannot remember now
not just in ST or anything
I just wish mutations had more involvement with the gameplay.. but that's not a lore topic so ayee
because i remember us trying to find it during the lore hunt
I don't think it's come up at all
Nope
then why did kouga say they had tried it
If it is in, it needs to be unlocked and we haven’t figured out how
I saw some other folks talking about how they tried to unlock it as well
I phrased this oddly
I meant that no one has found it, even from varied sources
pattern recognition iirc
thanks lunaryryry
It's most likely in the gamefiles just not possible to unlock
I am NOT going to find the mutation list in the files... 🥀
I dont know how others did it
There are others too
Pit Organ
Cochlear Sensitivity
and did anyone get Paratrepsis?
Paratrepsis was in yes
but it just doesn't have a hotkey, yes?
ah, so it was usable
although, i want to see if anyone mentioned how they got it
Was in, yup
I don't even think it's something you unlock. You just got it for free with growth, which I hate with most mutations
oh wow
yeah I read through that conversation
Said they were playing herrera, hung out at water access
Also Stereopsis? Kouga mentioned recently being unable to get that one
idek what there is in-game you can...yeah
hmmm
I have hung there a lot 'recently'
nothing has came up
so likely was 'in-game'
but potentially removed because useless atm?
interesting to see them hang out near there and potentially getting
especially since that was pre-update (there)
Well, they were two players playing together
Maybe it ties into communication? I never tried that
Found this in the files?
Maybe you need to say a lot of stuff in game chat
That's weird
but if it were this simple, someone would have seen it by now
yeah
been there for a while
Why would they name the file that
For Pattern Recognition?
I doubt it
It's the map from the dibble TCAM video
erm
yes please
hmmm
you need the entire server count being injected into your stomach to survive that growth cycle
@tiny cypress
do you remember, at all, how you and your buddy got pattern recognition ?
if not, no worry
talk alot near human structures? maybe they were near the dam
That was during the very start of the Hordetest for mutations.
It might've been just there as a free mutation that did nothing lol, as some were.
that was so long ago im not even sure i remember what dino i was playing at the time
For example the.. I forgot what it was.. Pit Organ?
herrera
still no idea
Too late I already found some stuff and posted it in several servers
DM me
dm me tomorrow
Sure
im sleeping
hmm, ok
no worries
i dont remember, were humans briefly enabled then?
ill ask my friend
On a singular server yes
could there have been any chance its something like hang around humans?
I played on that server for a bit with a friend, until it eventually got wiped
they do spawn server wide
as far as we can tell y'all might be the only instance of someone finding this mutation
POTENTIALLY
map wide i mean*
But at that time I think it was just another free mutation
mayhaps
But in the future once properly implemented, possibly
i think we also had access to herbivore-exclusive mutations, so im pretty sure it was just a massive bug. iirc this happened right around the time mutations first came out
and maybe kouga
depending on what kouga meant
I was reading the old conversation, it sounded like it was the period after mutation HT, as Henry said they couldn't play in the (at the time) current HT
But still seemed to have access to mutations
It was.. June 6th 2024.. during its HT
That HT Spanned from late May to Early August
ngl, the only intact memory i have of that ht was when i first downloaded it and played beipi
oh I took that at the time as "I tested it but was not successful in acquiring these mutations"
@hot bane sorry to bother, probably the only time you'll need to say something in this channel unless you make lore tutorials lol
can you elaborate on this please?
I don't know if you found this already or not, my memory is very poor right now
yeah i know
i am trying not to datamine for things and openly sharing them...
But it exists in-game!!
this was in the replay mode I think
of course it does
this was how we found out about it, yeah
I remember yeah
although
the design was first seen in the water tank
We found it in-game, and then extracted the clearer version.. it's fair game
(i will be making a video on it. It is my next one)
the funky logo?
i don't really find data-mining images like that as fair game, in my opinion
Fair enough
especially in islecord
goddamn
my discord is effing up
i am trying to find the image
ohhh
and that image is old as well
I saw some of those crates today on my way to work
can't believe it
lol
there is one exactly like it near my train station
i am going to take a picture the next time i ride
"The Isle In real life!1/111!1!111!"
The IBC Tank
it was in the period where the Hordetest was closed
so we got to test some stuff before everyone else
but we were always able to read human things.
i see i see
were you exactly able to get the mutation?
i see, i see
was free to get
Immediately unlocked with no 'prerequisite'?
yeah
Thought so
I see
hmm
zamn!!
so
we have a 'closed HT' scenario
and randomly a year ago by Henry
the things Kouga could read were likely stuff we can still read as well
although, yeah, not surprised it has no working system
seeing as we have no proper lore papers in-game yet
I WONDER if glance sheets will be jumbled? Probably not
but who knows
they are the 'last thing' to be done - which i do find interesting
albeit
that might be because they want GUTS to be walkable before adding stuff like that
I HOPE, though, they close replay when they add it though
Hopefully
Barometric sensitivity still does nothing
Who could've guessed!! yay!!
What is All-Father ?
yes
It is assumed that either the release of The Matriarch, the Magnatyrannus, or some other unidentified asset resulted in the islands being abandoned by AE.
According to isle fandom
Magnatyrannus (Magna Rex) is no longer canon for Evrima, to note
we weren't really that sure, for legacy
We really don't know, but don has stressed that it wasn't a single event that led to the current state
Do not trust the fandom
outdated
pretty much
a lot of the basic no1 isle fandom assumes a lot
I tried editing some bits but it just kills yah
so much to write and change
wish we had a good wiki
and most of that stuff is outdated due to legacy lore going
if only....
Wait evrimas kore is different from legacy ?
oh yeah
A lot of stuff is similar, some is the same
We don't know just what carries over in some cases
Do u have any link so that I can read it ?
The Isle Theory Document Created by: Rumplestiltskin Maintained by: Rumplestiltskin and The Isaac? Foreword by: 1tinydinosaur (PSA: Primal Carnage, both the original and Extinction, are no longer connected to The Isle’s Lore) You can comment on anything that needs to be added, changed, or remov...
Rumples document in the pinned message is the best for 'up to date stuff'
^anything directly from legacy is marked with 'legacy' as well
for ease
like
we know Neuros exist
but to what degree or capacity? Who knows
so there was (not sure if there is) a small blurb on their description from legacy (with the legacy warning on it)
some still exists like that on the doc
which will slowly be 'fixed' once we get more info on them for evrima
... meanwhile ...
I think we'll see other strain's equivalents of the reaper in some form
We haven’t seen any neuro stuff yet for Evrima
NHJ...
what if NHJs ARE proper Neuros
and that was the first time we properly played Neuros
lol
what's nhj
the zombie stuff
Zombies
I don’t count that, I consider it neuro adjacent, as we don’t even know how it ties in to neuros
I am craving giant crabs
dondi said so
what was it he said
how? We got no clue
just that i predicted it was Tissos
but then Don came in and said Neuros
i woulda thought tissos too
well the neuro we knew in legacy isnt the same in evrima right?
we have no clue
oh
if anything
it is related to the "Neuro Goo" term in Legacy
what are your thoughts on neuro goo, hearing zombies and neuro goo together makes me think evil brain control secretion
ALL TYPE-N BIO-ASSETS STUDIES ARE HALTED AS OF (4 LETTERS). FINAL STUDIES ARE TO BE CONCLUDED BENEATH ATRIUM B WITHIN (8 LETTERS). ANY PERSONNEL EXPOSED TO DIRECT CONTACT WITH ANY TYPE-N BIO-MATERIALS ARE TO BE CONSIDERED EXPENDABLE AND EXPUNGED ALONG WITH ANY BIOLOGICAL CONTAMINANTS FROM CODE ECHIDNA-(3 LETTERS) DO NOT REPLICATE.
i mean rabies makes mammals ignore their well being for the sake of being aggressive right
or something like that idk
hmmm
I hope echidna has spores or something similar
@hexed forge he said your catchphrase
Give neuros thralls 🙏
echidna was the mother of all gen 1's? what was it
Jokes on you, a lot of my phrases and gifs are actually stolen from Isaac..
yay
It’s the lightclaw virus
LHJ?
WOAH
Mother of cannibals
i am presuming though
that NHJ is "N" for Neuro
seeing as there is a relation to them
4531 woke me up sorry
it is ok
if there are 2 echidna's the cannibal brain collapses into a singularity
oh yeah its 10pm on a school night
I like to think it’s interaction based, you got too close and now you’re stuck
i wonder if they would have reason to fight each other
8 letters: Tartarus
3 letters: NHJ
mayhaps...
Did we ever get any idea of how big the giant crabs will be?
Because this is an interesting location
BIG
how so
water is cool
Will there be giant crabs ?
which we had a clip though...
but WOW that was at the end of 2023
time has flown
ha...
I mean mosa , pleaseosaur those
what do you guys think would be the iconic T strain dinosaur
like, how rex is H strain
spino is the first N strain
what do you think about Tisspolastic, what dinosaur seems to fit/look cool as it
||id be guessing giga since well common sense, its the 3rd apex of the trio||
What's T strain ?
Tissoplastic
Type-H doesnt have super regenration... thats Type-T
wait this is SO full of misinformation
nevermind.
Tissoplastic spino or the mother of cannibals
If it had to be a creature without strains... a herbivore strain would be cool
Whoops meant to say tissoplastic reaper 💔
Type-H Hyperendocrin
basically a crazy strong unbeatable version of the dino
increased size and strength, unstoppable killing machine, downside is constant need of food, always starving (and there's theories of them having constant intense pain cuz of the abnormal growth)
Type-N Neurotenic
simply, its a mix of a zombie+alien dino
looks like a walking dead body with wierd alien-like stuff and insanely intelligente compared to the normal counterpart
while Type-H is a bit stright forward, this one is cooler, can do EMP attack and shut down electricity, control weather (not sure if its a fact, hint or highly possible theory), can blur other dinosaurs vision if in range, somewhat get in their brains, even communicate with and understand them
Type-T Tissoplastic
its the literal ninja+ acidic monster type thing (personally reminds me of PREDATOR)
very stealthy and sneaky, more agile and presumably slimmer, has an actual camouflage ability, id assume most of this strain can climb, has acidic saliva, can regenerate lost limbs and body parts
@fierce cradle not to mention anything is subject to change, some are old some are theories but you can get the general image of the strains out of this (the image is old and outdated, but shows some of the triats im saying)
@lethal moat @acoustic osprey can you guys pls confirm i didnt mess up something?
R these bad boyz coming to the game ?
@low scarab i really love to think about Neuro goo and the fact that its an alive decaying body and the wierd big vein in it
i imagine it like the SOMA black goo, and its in that specific vein of the animal and IT is what keeps it alive/probably is the zombie infection lore related
ofcourse... ofcourse? i hope.
Hopefully
ETA 2077 ?
ETA: before u die of old age (possibly)
Who is Rodrigo Vega ?
an old concept artist, before TapWing got in the team
i love both of their work, but i see Vega's artstyle very superior and very niche
maybe cuz it was stuck in my brain to that era of the isle, it felt very familiar to the game
I am the thousand life contract
also me when the isle lore is 'finish'
if you refer to just Legacy
pretty much spot on in terms of doing off what we knew and speculated
in terms of Evrima lore? yeah um....
oh yeah as i mentioned, this might be all to the smallest of its details proven wrong in evrima, but even tho, im telling what was in legacy > so its most likely to be very close in evrima
ye
talking about that, the whole point of AE is to fight climate change? or its just the cover of the book, because otherwise they wouldnt be experimenting with humans, and creating monsters
i love the good old
"i'm doing this for the environment, honey!"
Proceeds to make creatures that would be classified as lethal weapons to protect themselves (AE), a way to contain and inject HUMAN MINDS into foreign bodies alongside also create their own 'new' animals that have never seen the light of existence till AE
we do not know their purpose.
climate change has been theorised though.
although
our closest/nearest theory hinted by Don hinting
yay
fr, "proceeds to sent humanoid monsters to do a carnage in rival companies"
i'm doing this for the safety of us.
for the betterment of our goal
Hey America, why do you need project sundial?
Environmental protections
for humanities** glorious purpose**, there will be sacrifices made to protect this project
😊
Too bad we never got there and all those atrocities just look bad now :/
seeing as seen of Krennics death in Rogue One made me sad
As bad as the Empire was, including Krennic
Krennic was so oblivious and yet truly dedicated and passionate about the projects he was given — how rare that is in society
and the realisation that he was just another pawn, another cog in a machine that spat him out like an old wet toy
it made me realise how well written Rogue One was truly
Andor spoilers ||The exact same thing he did to others in Andor as well||
i love how the USSR used nuclear bombs to try and build a river
hire people to dig it for you or use literally anything else that wouldn't call any sort of dangerous radiation that could devestate north-west asia and east europe?
pft!
Slides hyperendcrine across the table
Very nice
yea lol ik im so glad you are making the same connection i am now
but honestly it lowkey fits the lore for the isle really well
i really just realized it... the goo....
I get it now!
-# I still don’t get it
remember what tiny dinosaur said about neuros being somewhat a decaying body that is somehow alive
and they can partially control/effect alive dinos so theoritically can control other dead bodies
and as tiny said, dead bodies are like "empty vessels"
Kinda
so
i thought, what if its somewhat like whats in the game "SOMA"
in that game theres a sci-fi goo named "WAU" this thing literally and basically "makes anything alive for the longest time possible" and notice that, it doesnt keep it healthy, just alive
a spoiler to the game ||theres a character in there that was kept for over 4 years trapped in that goo sitting literally just on life support|| something like 1thousand lives contract making u dead but alive (by that i mean its mentally harmful), in game || the goo is controlled by big AI , andit turns out if the creature isnt really gonna die/is dead and the goo can do MORE than keep it at minimum amount of "alive", it does some ambiguous mysterious stuff, seems evil, like killing people|| and it sounds a lot like what Replicator is doing
i can compare WAU AI and replicator, and the WAU goo to the neuro goo
so what if
Neuro goo if exposed to alive beings, makes them controlled by it individually/a higher being (replicator?) and then it spreads like a disease, and if it hits a dead body it gives it a disgusting state of "alive", revives it somehow or just makes it a ghost
SOMA goo sounds a lot like zombie event+neuro goo to me
Eh, not sure about tying the replicator in, but I do like the pathogen idea
lol
Neuro goo is silly
im not trying tie it in im saying it IS for the soma example, and possibly for the isle's
but less likely ofc
what i think is like
its hivemind type thing
Yeah, hiveminds are cool
We don't know that neuro goo is even a canon thing right?
That's just fandom stuff
That’s an Isaac question
just learned what this new term is, it’s basically old lore sauce from a loading screen in legacy explaining any direct contact with type-n bio material are to be expendable and expunged along with any other bio containment code echidna, of if i recall the texts correct
ahh this stuff
It occurs to me that "Mother of Cannibals" could easily refer to the zombie 'plague', as it turned even herbivores into insatiable carnivores
Mother of Cannibals always referred to Echidna themselves as I recall unless that’s changed? Or I’m not understanding what you mean
Yep
I haven’t done a legacy deep dive in probably a year now
I just mean that the cannibals in the context could refer to the zombies
But I suppose at that that time 'cannibals' was a term for the early concept of Gen 1
u should make ur pfp change color it would be better tbh
who has that one lore document
It is in pinned messages.
but I want to be orange
hm if u want to stay 1 color maybe go light green it fits u
no, I'm orange
that's my logo color
normally it's this, just doing the austro temporarily
can u send me the austro picture
I only have the version someone modified for me on a whim last night
look at this beautiful ai picture
cool, feel free to use it
I'm not green
Oh and it's AI
yeah I'm def not touching that
what does the lore say
imma read the document
Many things...
And yet, at the same time,
So little
This is cursed I hate it
Lol
And yet, will we ever get it fully? Or will we have to finish the story ourselves.

it'll definitely 'finish'
but finish to the level of how most stories finish
it finishes
but the world never stops
unless The Isle has a world ending event
where AE fails
insert Don's tweet about the ending of the isle
Replicator gets shut down,
Apollo Engineering essentially fails and gets abondoned,
Life goes on and on
But I actually doubt the replicator is THAT important to AEs success lol
maybe
i feel like it is important
maybe not the life and blood
but still, essential to do most things
I just had a dream yesterday.... Dondi came and told all the creatures are created .... Released in a surprise patch
.
Enjoy
Then I woke up 🥺
Rip
If only that were real
Never lose hope
Alternatively, AE regains control of the islands and the replicator works as it’s supposed to, if it doesn’t already
makes me wonder if we ever will get the 'ending'
and how that would ever happen
i do wonder how Don planned for it to happen back when he made that tweet
From the game pov it looks like we are the AE operator and we are following up on the dinosaurs by cams
Eips maybe?
EIP ?
Embryo intelligence profile, human consciousness inside of dinosaur bodies
1000 life contract 😱
Who is the replicator in the isle?
I thought AE created the dinosaurs but on google it also says the replicator did it.

If there was they gone now, reduced to diets
We know there used to be sweep teams and checkpoint teams at some point
ok ... no names then ?......and in what year does this whole lore is happening?
All good questions, we know AE was operational between 1990 and 1999 minimum, but no other info other than that
ok ...cool .....and are the strains still alive?
We’ll be able to get them in game, but given how quick Hypers starve, I would assume they’re remade
Looks about right

no way
musquito
Given the amount of spikes the reaper has, I think it’s safe to assume that tissos are still smaller than their normal counterparts
I don’t think neuros are going to change a ton
Probably
I dont see how the correlation of spikes to size works, but sure
small tisso is kewl
Spikes typically develop as a protection against things that can fit a majority of the animal that has spikes in it’s mouth
Tissos aren't a product of evolution where they would have thousands of years to cater their spikes to the right size
I still believe that the tips of those spikes contain venom/poison
Either way whether the spikes correlate to it's size or not, in legacy we knew that the reaper was smaller than an average human right?
I wouldn't be surprised
That seems to be the trend of all tissos, unofficial and official iirc
I still think of the replicator as evolution, just accelerated and artificial
yea
We don't know
I wouldn't,
AE is the one controlling what form of a creature will be replicated, unless it goes rogue.. which is a popular theory but I feel like that would be too simple
You can change factors to make something evolve the way you want it to
Looking at the dibble video
It is likely, in my opinion
Not natural evolution tho
Why else would and how could they go through 35 (iirc) generations of dibbles
I think herrera is a better example
Domestication is artificial evolution, which what we already do in real life
no climbing to climbing
People would mistake Beipi as a big penguin if it was viewed from behind
thats selective breeding
or the same thing
I’d say the replicator is something like that on steroids
But would humans altering genes of a species so it can adapt to x condition, in this case Dibbles having trouble eating oranges lol, count as actual evolution?
No, I think its more complicated, you would have to do gene editing for you to get from a purely terrestrial creature to something capable of climbing and even being able to survive impossible falls and creating a general hunting behaviour out of it
Yes it would
- 50 Strength points into Leg day
Evolution and natural selection are to separate, but connected concepts
Natural Selection forces Evolution to happen
Yes, but evolution is not limited to natural selection
But it is, becuase if its not, its selective breeding
Selective breeding is still a form of evolution
I disagree
I dont get what you are trying to say with that image lol
Would humans actively altering a creature to perfect it, count as actual evolution? I dont think the definition mentions any of that
Yep
But why, I dont think it would
There is nothing that says evolution has to be natural, just that a species develops or becomes more complex
For example, dogs are still all the same species and genus, and are at core, the same animal, they are so inbred, that there is a point where a selectively bred animal is just infertile.
Breeding for characteristics will eventually breed an organism incapable of being bred any further, this does not happen in Evolution.
Why are we talking about selective breeding when AE clearly isn't sitting around and waiting for 35 generations to constantly breed
Evolution also does not have to be beneficial, that’s a feature of natural selection
The gene pool becomes incredibly niche, and genetic breakdown occurs. The only way to prevent it would be gene editing, and by that point... is it even evolution?
The gene editing is another form of artificial selection, I’m making a conparison
Yes, it’s still evolution
I disagree
But I dont think it's the same?
Species developing by itself through several generations ≠ Humans forcefully altering its genotype/phenotype in a short timespan (Short when comparing to actual evolution)
It’s not natural evolution, but it is still the development of a species
Yeah, that’s natural selection vs artificial selection, both of which are forms of evolution
But does gene editing count as artificial selection?
The replicator evolves species, it’s not natural, it’s probably not ethical, but it is hyperefficient
Yes
If it is evolution, you would be saying you're capable of producing an entirely new Domain of organism at some point in the future through your artificial selection, which is simply impossible
Silence google ai
Rumple used it too shhh
Oh lol I just opened this and that’s the first thing I saw
Alright, it might not qualify as artificial selection, but it does still fit the definition of evolution that I provided
Genuinely wonder what would happen if all of AEs dinos were loose and there was no human intervention
^
X species / creatures are still evolving
Like poof no more people, ecosystem good luck
Just you are playing God
Instead of natural selection
But it doesn't
The replicator is an evolution machine
I play god when I spray the hose on the fire ant nest
Only the strong survive
It fits both
Rapid development is still gradual, we know there are at least 36 generations of dibble, it’s much faster iterations, but it is still not a one step process
But these are humans themselves altering the genes of each generation.
These aren't 36 generations of constant breeding. They are not connected at all
Yeah, it’s not natural selection, but it is still a species being evolved
"Rapid Development"
It can't be rapid because the generations do not evolve from eachother in the first place
I would say,
Being changed in what the human sees best
Do you know this? We know that it’s at least somewhat iterative because they passed on Augustus’s genes to all other herreras
Its still evolution, even if it’s not in the best interest of the organism
AUGUSTUS had offspring and then they replicated his body/abilities/whatever the heck the replicator replicates
This is not the similar to the dibbles at all, from what we see
Replicated to all other member of that species, yeah
You mean the old version got killed off and the new version was introduced
Selective Breeding leads to Inbreeding, which leads to Reduced Gene Pool, which leads to Inheritance of Genetic Diseases, which leads to Extinction.
You can maybe save it through gene editing, but you can only use compatible genes to the structure of the Genome, and you just end up falling back on yourself because you don't progress from the same species you had, you're just diversifying the same species over and over again, you need to let things like mutations, and adaptations to ecological niches to take place before you can actually get a entirely new species or genus, which would be the part where Evolution takes place, everything else beforehand was Conservation and Diversification.
Because I STRONGLY doubt it can replicate something onto an old replicated version of a body
Yeah, evolving the next generation
You cant evolve a new generation as the previous generation inherits the same genes, nothing changes, you're just mix and matching different puzzle pieces. A mutation would be a change, an evolution, but you cant really force a mutation to occur, only encourage it and chemically creating genes from molecules is something Im pretty sure you can't do.
But Rumple,
The old generation and the new generation are not connected at all. So how could they evolve from eachother, there is no evolution between each generation
How can you say they aren’t connected when a feature from a past generation is used to improve the future generation
What feature is this?
Climbing
Oh sorry if we are still talking about AUGUSTUS, I should've used version I guess.
But I was moreso referring to Dibbles, but either way its the same thing with AUGUSTUS from the broad view
How so?
But we don't know that
We only know there are two injections
Of what though?
We don't know
But how do you define connection in this case?
If you mean the most simplistic and natural route
Then yeah, no evolution by that regard
AUGUSTUS obviously is a success of it's species, all the generations after from what we know have it's climbing ability. Keep in mind that AUGUSTUS was most likely given this climbing ability through genetic editing whether it is from humans themselves or a Replicator error. AE doesn't do much with its species other than making it so everysingle species has the climbing ability after AUGUSTUS. The old generation/version that didnt have this climbing ability are abandoned.
The Dibbles however have a lot of work going on by AE, probably because they are in the early stages of being worked on by AE. They still trying to find that sweet spot like it did with AUGUSTUS, thus ending up in several generations of changes, most of which aren't actually created through breeding.. So.. I think the correct term at that point would just be version. 35 Versions of Dibbles that are being changed by the humans constantly.
The same thing could be said for the AUGUSTUS situation, we are just seeing AE actually finding that sweet spot lol.
Dibbles = The large picture of AEs perfection process
AUGUSTUS = The smaller picture of where we see a singular version be what AE sees as a success
Anyway.. I honestly don't know what I yapped about above anymore, but to conclude.
"How can you say they aren’t connected when a feature from a past generation is used to improve the future generation"
If we use the term "versions", which is what I meant.
Anything before AUGUSTUS is an old version, AUGUSTUS and everything after is the new version. There was no evolution going on between the versions because the climbing change was clearly not something caused by evolution, but rather a gene edit/replicator error.
And the old version was obviously abandoned.
The new version wasn't created by breeding. Therefore, it is not related to the rest of the species prior to it. Thus, no evolution going on between those versions/generations
I forgot everything that I wrote in the first two paragraphs,
I'd say the last few are way more important
I’m saying the gene editing is a form of evolution, what you seem to be proposing is natural selection, which is a driver of evolution to be sure, but is not evolution itself
Gene editing is not a form of evolution tho
It is simply not
Why not
It develops species further, and it can be passed down
Evolution is the process of change. Selective breeding doesn't change anything about the gene pool, but reduces it for the next generations, nothing changes since you can still bring in new genes from other species.
Mutations on the other hand purely naturally as there is no where to chemically produce a gene that has never existed before, sure Gene Synthesis is a thing, but you're very limited in how you can fold each protein. There are 20 naturally occurring proteins, 4 occur in DNA (5th one if you consider RNA) and there are 100s of different synthetic proteins, but you can't use them.
Furthermore, if you wanted to mix and match different codon proteins, let me put it into perspective how impossible it is, the Human Genome has 3.2 billion base pairs of 46 chromosomes, all of which are randomly arranged, thats 147.2 billion base pairs arranged randomly (different species will have vastly different numbers) this isn't taking into account that this is one single human which doesn't represent the entire gene pool that has ever been apart of Homo Sapiens, some genes simply don't exist anymore and are extinct, its estimated at around 20,000 though for humans. Genes can vary from a couple hundred to a thousand base pairs.
If you wanted to introduce entirely new genes to a species and change its gene pool, it would be almost impossible since you have to account for the different codons and how they're read as well as well as to ensure its all compatible. AI can't do this for you either because AI is limited to what humans can tell it and humans are limited by what it knows. I would genuinely cry if you wanted to make an entirely new species from scratch.
It doesn't develop a species, it just mix and matches different genes from a gene pool.
Selective breeding and gene editing doesn't change the gene pool either.
This is not evolution. Evolution changes the gene pool.
Where is tiny when you need her
She knows this stuff better than me ( I think )
Holy crap Ruun you just said what I have been trying to type for the past 5 minutes in 2 minutes, thanks
Gene pools and stuff
You're welcome
It does when you choose to take genes from the most successful and apply that to the rest of the species, it may not happen often, but we do have evidence of it happening with Augustus
@serene stag We are in need of your assistance
Apologies for the ping
That is not the right tiny
@fast forge
Reduction is change though
This doesn't change the gene pool, if we are to assume the entire gene pool of a species, not just a specific interbreeding population. You're just mix and matching. The change being made is reduction, and this will produce slightly more inbred and specialised population which all use genes from the original gene pool, nothing new was added, nor did any of the genes change via a mutation.
I think of natural selection like an evolutionary tournament for survival
I think of what the replicator is doing as an accelerated evolutionary tournament to fulfill whatever goals AE has for the organism
Evolution does not have to be beneficial
I KNEW somebody was going to say that, but you only reduce the breeding population's gene pool, the entire species gene pool will not change.
I still dont get what you mean by this
Evolution includes change within a species. Speciation is not the only thing that happens in evolution.
And genes don’t have to change via mutation, if they’re artificially swapped out, or a different dominant or recessive gene is introduced, it is still change
Yes but that specific population’s gene pool has changed
Evolution is just genetic change in a population, not necessarily beneficial or broadening the gene pool
And if the breeding population has a change in the gene pool then any genes not in the breeding population or future breeding population will eventually be lost.
There are multiple evolutionary processes through which genes are lost.
But does it classify as actual evolution if it happens in an instant rather than over time in a natural manner? No.
I just went through several sites and they strictly mention "Over time"
https://www.genome.gov/genetics-glossary/Evolution heres one ig
Technically it happens over an extremely short period of time.
Are we going to get into a ship of thesius argument again? Because we already know it’s iterative
Extremely yeah
It is faster than normal evolution, but it is still evolution
I dont even know what this ship of thesius is,
I didn't get involved in those because I dont know much about greek mythos
It basically happens in an instant tho lol
How much of something has to change before it is no longer the same thing
So does normal evolution during reproduction, and with random mutations
Mutations and gene editing are not the same thing.
One is natural and the other is not.
Evolution does not have to be natural
No we are not going down that path then
It does. (Actually I think this is getting to the subjective part of the evolution theory so I guess I disagree then)
Natural selection and evolution are two different, but connected concepts
Not necessarily
How does this have to do with anything.
By Natural, I am not strictly referring to Natural Selection
I am referring to breeding
What about artificial selection, thats still evolution, how is being more precise about that not also evolution
Artificial Selection is a natural form of evolution.
And if you are making the argument of Artificial Selection being the same as gene editing, it is not.
What qualifies as natural to you
I’m saying it’s extremely similar
It is not at all.
Technically both are selecting certain genes, but they definitely aren’t the same, just somewhat similar.
Breeding causing the passing down of genetics I guess
What about implanting artificially fertilized embryos using unedited gametes, would that count
You are selecting a creature that you see as fit and suitable for yourself/itself to breed so it's genetics get passed down.
Vs
Editing the genotype/phenotype of a creature to be better/more suitable
I guess you can say they are similar, but I wouldn't say close
As far as I’m aware, genes used in gene editing are pre-existing genes.
I have made 0 research on this so I have no clue what that is
That creature will then pass down that geneotype to future generations
If you make an unedited baby outside the womb and then put it in the womb, would it still be natural to you
Yup, so switching out/adding genes mb.
...Which leads to Reduced Gene Pool, which leads to Inheritance of Genetic Diseases, which leads to Extinction.
Natural Preventions would be through species colonisation, forcing adaption or a new breeding population interbreeds
Artificial Preventions would be through Artificial Insemination, Species introductions, covered the rest in that message.
The gene pool does change, but only leads to exaggerated features, you need to isolate them which leads to their extinction or their prosperity as a new species that diverged from the previous generations, which occurs naturally and thats when I would call it evolution. The potential gene pool of the entire species remains the same and I don't call it true change as it will reach a certain point where you cant change that breeding population's variation.
Mutations add to the gene pool overtime which induces proper change, leading to new species, and that is what I consider Evolution ( assuming those genes are selected through natural selection )
@granite ore
Were the replicator just creating one off creatures that were incapable of breeding, I would agree that it’s not evolution, but it’s iterative changes to entire species
-
The process itself that got it there in the first place wasn't a spark of evolution. But whatever happens onward with that gene would be a natural form of evolution, as long as its not disrupted- speaking of disrupted.. 2.
-
If we go back into the context of AEs way of doing things, they do A LOT of gene editing. (Presuming from the constant changes they did to Dibble) Thus, disrupting any form of evolution in that species.
Im not going to deny that reduction is change, it is, but a single breeding population's gene pool does not change the entire species population's potential gene pool. Only thing that would do that is mutations, which over time breeds entirely new genuses, etc
Evolution can happen within a species.
You don’t make all those changes at once, you test things to make sure it works
Yes, mutations
Conclusion,
Basically what I'm trying to say is that.
The Replicator isn't an evolution machine, it is a machine that creates things that the humans would see as viable in there constantly changing testing ground (Gateway/other AE Facilities)
Alright, how is that not evolution though, if it is iterative
After the testing, it's either a success or a failure. Both lead to AE leaving it be for some time, or continuing to make changes until they see something positive.
If AE leaves it be, the evolution process can start. If AE continues to change it, the evolution process would keep getting interrupted.
Natural selection works the same way, but failures perish and successes go on to pass down their genes, it’s the same process, just automated
I personally disagree with this, the potential remains the same, no matter what
The only change that happens is when mutations are introduced
We might just have to agree to disagree at this point
The Replicator doesn't speed up evolution, it changes a specie to what the humans see potential in. If AE leaves a species be with no interruptions from The Replicator, Evolution exists. As soon as The Replicator gets involved, the evolution process stops
Edit: I should specify that Replicator involvement = The Replication of a new version of the specie, leading to the abandonment(Killing?) of the old version since AE would clearly not want to keep the old version if the new version is better.
Closing Statement.
My counter is that it’s evolution, just artificial
Thats my closing statement
If a population within a species becomes isolated then it’ll lose genes present in the rest of the species while retaining genes that the rest lost. That is basically the start of speciation. Mutations add to the gene pool, but evolution includes both the gene pool growing and shrinking. The entire species genetic pool might be the same, but many of those genes aren’t being shared with the entire population anymore, therefore the isolated population is evolving in a different direction than the rest.
If the Replicator is randomly mutating the animals’ genomes every so often, then it is essentially artificial evolution.
That is my closing statement?
My closing statement
I yield, it is 02:50
Lol
Good conversation all around
tartare
So Tartarus is some sort of containment facility, right?
Potentially
We know it’s at minimum some sort of punishment in Evrima
- that one reference in the dibble video
what is this conversation that I missed
Would the replicator’s iterative gene editing qualify as evolution
My stance is that it does
Rün and Cerato disagree
well if I check with the higher ups...
and also
So I'd say yes, it is evolution
It's evolution through artificial selection, but the animals are still evolving
That’s my argument as well, but Rün is stuck on the gene pool not growing and Cerato says it’s not natural
Evolution doesn't have to be a natural process
Some scientists have guided the evolution of fruit flies using artificial measures
Dogs have been influenced by man through artificial selection, but they still evolved alongside us
idk about the point about the gene pool, that's a more specific concept
But we have the features of evolution
- Heritability across generations
- Evolutionary pressures (natural selection, artificial selection, sexual selection)
- Change over time within a population (I assume)
- Genetic variation within a population
- Adaptation to the local environment
Even now on Earth many many ecosystems are heavily managed by governments, and virtually nothing is completely free from human impact
It's just in The Isle's case instead of a governing body managing the ecosystem, it might be some sort of programming
It’s very invasive selection, but it still fits the minimum criteria
Humans do some very drastic stuff to our ecosystems
Controlled burns, species introductions, species hunting and eradication, pesticides, herbicides, physical removal, moving massive amounts of earth, etc etc
By contrast what the replicator is (might) be doing is surgical by comparison
To some degree it is controlling an ecosystem down to the genetic level
Mhm
Do we know this?
Humans destroy
The Replicator creates and perfects !
Heed to the criteria
And adhere they have.
I can imagine humans being afraid
Causing 'holy wars' and hits on AE
It may not be truly natural
But would it be scary efficient? I would imagine it as so
Holding human minds and putting it into other bodies? Creating entirely new creatures and recreating them like what we see happen with Troodon?
Truly out of this world
They’re not evil, they’re revolutionaries (who do evil things)
Evil is only evil because a general community of people deem it against their values...
This causes limitations.
what 🫣
how does that eve relate?
i saw that but
by that do you mean that the spikes are some evolution type thing cuz
they got smaller > their body developed spikes as a natural defense
or AE did develop that
Could be both, one, or neither, but smaller things make sense to have more spikes
Will it be cool if we get D rex type of dinos in the game ?
matriarch
maybe even the human strains
they're the most close, imo
Now what is a human strain ?
Reaper, Colossus and Echidna
Humanoid is preferred, to me at least
(the colossus one is unofficially done, but the physical design is the same)
Updated reaper
R they planned for the game ?
Reaper looks so similar to Gen 1 I think it's likely they are connected
Collossus too ?
it depends for in-game though
it would far easier, in my opinion, to orientate a lot of the isle lore through a singleplayer/co-op survival game
all of the above have been confirmed
although Colossus, at the moment, is the least known about
i would LOVE for, in the future, to have a Forest-esque singleplayer on Isle Lore
Agreed
CARRIER
We can play them in the base game too .... Couple of tweaks needed
Maybe a UE 5.5 upgrade
for the human strains? No
it is not something on performance
it is more so trying to implement them into the gameplay
which is very hard in my opinion
due to multiplayer
probably the biggest hinder in my opinion is multiplayer
Gib strains
dino strains is definitely going to be added though in my opinion
would be a lot 'easier' to do
The game is a multiplayer
yes
i am more so discussing about the pros and cons with Multiplayer
which, there is definitely a lot to both sides
The inherent limitations of storytelling in singleplayer vs multiplayer
We r telling story by lore right ? U can see a game like dota .... It has a very deep lore but it doesn't effect the gameplay
in terms of multiplayer
there comes many limitations, like linearity with story, etc.
However, with human strains, a lot of does come to having to adhere to balancing becomes a big aspect — because they have to adhere to making it so they're not overpowered. Especially since the human strains were discussed about in legacy as being quite powerful. Colossus being GIANT, for example
saying that
it is not impossible to do
but i much prefer if The Isle, in almost all regards, became or had a singleplayer survival mode
but of course, it would not perform as well and most people in islecord would not be here for it
And it still creates mysteries
agreed though
multiplayer can be a very good for 'storytelling'
but, sadly, it does more come down to communicating lore/story through worldbuilding
rather than proper 'storytelling' like in The Forest/Sons of the Forest
of course, i am biased
do i want to see an Isled version of Sons of The Forest? Hell yeah
do i know that The Isle is not going down that direction though? Yeah... oh well
but what we've gotten, hard-lore-wise, has been really nice and good though
will it be hard to do the same in-game? most likely
hopefully that means more lore hunts or akin
We can like ... The time tartarus got destroyed.... For 6 months keep a cave with horns blaring with red lights everywhere .... And sometimes to tease a creature some cries of that creature.... Then after 6 months for rememberence of the time give a skin or just remove the frone the cave and make a perimeter around it
Ha, that would be cool
I would love a dedicated official 'story server'
That would have events happen or akin
A server like normal officials
But if you see a Hyperendocrin.
... oh I realised this is a poorly thought out idea
I just want an excuse for lore to happen in world where people be like 'oh well, I signed up for this when I picked the server anyways...'
Assuming your data stays within a server, we could designate a few servers within lorecord as “we’re going to try and find lore stuff and progress on these” and we can take that knowledge to other servers
not what i was imagining exactly
but that would be cool
but those designated servers, you mean designated Official Servers?
i think, unoffiically for us, that would be NA West
but forgot the number
how big is that guy wow
Gene editing is not evolution nor a form of a creature evolving.
This was my main point along the entire argument.
define directed evolution
Directed Evolution and Gene editing are not the same thing, I guess you can say they are connected tho.
But iirc directed evolution is mimicking the process of natural selection in a lab. So like, rats with the superior traits being chosen to improve through rounds of mutagenesis and amplification or whatever I forgot. Not too sure on the topic but I’m pretty sure they are not the same thing, gene editing and directed evolution that is
^also your assumptions hurt me Cerato
while, at the same time, there have been cases of CRISPR-Cas9 usage for directed evolution
would you count this still as directed evolution? despite, clearly, gene editing/tampering occurred
at the same time though
It’s pretty obvious that the 35 generations of dibbles aren’t 35 generations of long breeding.. I severely doubt it. Using the Replicator to efficiently execute gene edits seems like something AE would do
you are coming under assumptions that we know how both AUGUSTUS and (especially) how the Dibbles were made
do we... know this though?
what if these dinosaurs 'omnisaurs' have accelerated growth
I am serious Cerato
i have my points for all 4 potential routes
Isle hasn't been afraid to reflect in-game with in-lore and vice versa
hence why i am trying not to come under assumptions of how it works
and only giving input in stuff like this with it being given that i notify it is a theory
because we don't really know
the plant foods used CRISPR-Cas9
does it mean that is directed evolution?
no, not explicitly
because we just don't know
sure we have some bits. Realistically. One or two things on stuff like that.
but still
like this barely tells us anything
also how do the 'generations' work?
how do they work irl? Tiny would know
as i am pretty sure, irl, it relates to offspring generations
i.e. it is not 'vertical'
which, i have no clue if "F" is only used for just parent-to-offspring aspects (vertical)
and saying that
we don't even know how gene editing could work in Isle, which is something that would be interesting to see in the future
being that:
- could they be able to edit mid-being-alive? OR just embryonically
of course, it quite likely is just in the embyro or equivalent
this is the part of the lore where we literally are working off hypotheticals because there is basically nothing on this
Gene editing alone is not evolution, but an evolving population can be influenced by gene editing and it is still considered to be evolving
Guyz after writting the fan fiction can I upload in this chat ?
I would still challenge this idea, but I know I would have the entire scientific community against me. I simply disagree with the parameters of the widely accepted definition.
artificial evolution
probably not
but i am no admin, so i don't mind
nah you'd probably have a majority of the scientific community behind you
especially conservatives and traditionalists
but it is an argument i gave to thecerato in lorecord
about challening the norms and restrictions we give, consciously and unconsciously, upon standard thinking of things we are familiar with
versus something like this
which has basically never happened properly
so therefore our conventional understandings of "X" cannot truly help define such
because
what else would you call this then?
un-but-at-the-same-time-similar-but-not-the-same(!)-evolution
gene mutation doesn't cut it
but it isn't just gene mutation
it isn't gene mutation, clearly, with AUGUSTUS
and we have no understanding on how the Dibble "F" generations work
besides how they would happen irl
which, even then, that is about pre-existing animals
not things that have never truly existed before
Well you put it best, definitions probably wont change since there isn't a need for it to change, as things are, they still work in conveying a general understanding, in this case of evolution - which whether you call it evolution or not - the core mechanisms at hand are fact and occur whether it was guided by Human or Inhuman forces. But its getting too philosophical for me at this point.
So is your point that it isn't evolution if there are artificial changes to the population?
Yes
I'm with Rün on that one
Yes, correct. However this argument was also referring to The Replicator.
Point still stands, replicator is not an evolution machine. It is a machine that edits a specie based on what the humans told it to do. Adding a new version of a specie via the replicator isn’t evolution.
Basically as I’ve said before,
Without replicator intervention, the specie can evolve normally. With the replicator interrupting, it fails to qualify as evolution. There is no evolution involved when a new version of the specie is added to a population of older versions. ESPECIALLY if that new version is meant to take over the old version, which I am guessing AE just kills the old version lol
A change that is made by the replicator isn’t an act of the specie evolving
But humanity messes with ecosystems ALL THE TIME
So are you saying most ecosystems on earth are not undergoing evolution? That's silly
This is the definition of evolution. Just because the replicator is involved doesn't invalidate these precepts
Humanity touches upon and impacts virtually every organism on earth. Does that mean nothing on earth is evolving?
I really feel like the desire to delineate between
"This is natural"
and
"That is unnatural"
is tied into this concept for y'all
But the real world doesn't make any distinction between natural and unnatural in the way we view it. It's just a system with specific parts that reacts in certain ways
And the Replicator ruins/interrupts/not even involved in any of those key factors.
Which one does it "ruin"?
Change over time and genetic variation
