#Are we allowed to make a fork of the pack?
36 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I mean creating a custom pack, I need to remove/add some mods, and change some of the scripts.
just do that to the files and upload it directly to the server?
wont work if files are needed client and server
that's not at all how KubeJS works.
KubeJS scripts are serverside only.
thats how it works if you add or remove mods
no it really isn't. you can create your own server instance that has the mods you want alone, and then just add the KubeJS scripts to the relevant folder on the server.
what
if i want to remove 50 mods from the pack and then add 25 new ones for the server, the client needs those mods.
A fork of the modpack would let me do that so my buddies and their buddies can just download it and then play on the server
For instance I want this for my server
yea and because the modpack is on github you can fork it on github. no reason to upload it to curseforge is what I'm saying, genius
it makes it easier for people who want to join my server to just download the pack off of CF
most people dont know how to download from github and build it
hence why I am asking permission to have my fork be on CF
If the dev says no then it is what it is
ask that on the github the devs rarely ever read these.
thats fair
and the release on github is just a zip file for modpacks. meaning they can just unzip it into their instances folder and it will just work.
some people are scared to download that
not even kidding either
not the first time its happened
if they can't trust you enough to download a file you made are they even your friends man
friends of friends join too
my friends trust the files I send them
cant say the same for theirs
I just want to make it easier for people
the lowest common denominator
they can't trust a github link? how is github any less trustworthy than curseforge man?
anyway you'd have to ask in a place where the devs are likely to see this, ie in tfg's issues page on github
