How am I supposed to obtain mica dust? I can't smelt it (at least I assume I can't, cause all smelting methods I can think of are further in the game) I can't wash dust (it doesn't work. even with vanilla Minecraft water)

what do you mean what then. you process the graphite and kaolin down into their refined powders, and mix them with clay to make fire clay. that's it.
the fire clay has knapping recipes for bricks, the crucible, and mold tables and channels.
