I tested my monitor on another PC with the same graphics card, running Windows 11, and 144Hz works perfectly fine there.

However, on Linux (Arch Linux and Fedora), if I set the refresh rate above 60Hz — even 65Hz — my screen starts blinking/flickering. I don't know where the problem is.

I already tested the cable on another PC, so I don't think the cable is the issue. I still haven't tested my GPU separately, but it was working perfectly fine on Windows 11 just two days ago, so I doubt the GPU is faulty.

I think it might be related to NVIDIA drivers. I tried installing them, but nothing solved the issue.

My specs:

  • GPU: GTX 1070 Ti
  • Monitor: ASUS VG249
  • CPU: i5-12400F
  • Connection: DisplayPort

At first, Arch Linux was working fine at 144Hz. Then I downloaded some drivers (possibly wrong ones) while trying to set up Steam, and after that my screen became permanently black. I had to reinstall Arch Linux and format everything.

Maybe the issue started after that.

What drivers did you install and from where?
How is this both for vanilla arch and other distro? Which is it

#

These were not complicated questions 😭

Let's start with the OS then. You have tags for vanilla and arch. What os actually is it?

wild lagoon
#

both have same issue

# wild lagoon arch and fedora

Personally I would advise against dualbooting fedora with another Linux OS. I found the way they do the initramfs irritating.

But your choice.

Let's start with arch, where did you download the driver from, nvidia website, main repos, aur, or somewhere else?

#
