yk what would such channel turn into?

I'd second this, I've been doing some pretty neat stuff with local models and wouldn't mind showing it off/helping people setup their own locally hosted setups. But yeah should definitely stay local only, no slopgpt crap, big public models are designed to be sycophantic and only ever agree with you, which is very dangerous, so I would urge people to make sure that their own local models general prompts DONT do that >.>

but tbh, why not just make thread in like #tech-general

I think machine learning and computer vision is cool! But at this point I believe that if you're using the word "AI", you're just a shmuck trying to outsource your own thought process to a machine.

#

It's not my fault you need a computer to think for you ^^

#

I'm not going to entertain this discussion when we're clearly at an impasse about something that disgusts me on a moral and ethical level :3

#

Hope you have a good day

think that can perfectly fit in tech-general

#

or as a thread in tech general as netkv suggested

This would be nice for sure, but given how much people hate ai here i doubt this will ever become a reality

As an AI slop hater, I really enjoy messing with LM Studio and thus would enjoy this

maybe instead of ai channel do a self hosting channel, there local ai stuff would also fall in which i think is the part that people hate the least

Also this is a genuine question, what do you mean by techniques for LLMs/Generative AI? And I genuinely had no idea that there were different software which was unique enough to stand on its own? Everything I've seen has just been generalised chatbots with slight differences but otherwise are the same

#

Like, if different LLM implementations were as different as you suggest, then wouldn't one be able to determine if something was written by Claude VS Chat GPT?

#

From what I've seen they all do the same thing with no differences other than the logo looks like a slightly different butthole

But wouldn't a local LLM just be a scaled down version of an existing larger chat bot?

#

As far as my understanding is concerned, it's very difficult to create your own truely local LLM (Trained locally, deployed locally) due to the sheer scale of data required

#

I guess I just don't see the point in using a Large Language or Defusion Model at all. As in, I am literally unable to comprehend why someone would use them besides transcription.

I distinguish between computer vision/machine learning and LLM/DM AI, don't worry

Should we create a channel for the discussion of this technology

1⃣ Yes, LocalLLM
2⃣ Yes, All AI
3⃣ Yes, Self Hosting
4⃣ No, I hate AI

Artificial intelligence Selfhosting/HomeLabbing channel

OLD:Artificial intelligence NEW:Selfhosting/HomeLabbing channel

I'd personally like to see both, LLM's have their uses (for me mainly parsing and reformatting text) but I think a general self hosting channel would also be pretty cool. It's always fun learning about peoples homelab setups and there currently isn't a dedicated space for talking about arch in the server enviroment here

cursive basin

dont forget yall can just make thread as you wish

cursive basin
#

no? just make thread for ai talk in general

Threads in discord are flawed for recurring general discussion topic. Anyone who doesn't see the creation of the thread or doesn't click the little threads icon next to the other buttons that no one clicks will see the thread. They only really work for moving an active discussion out of the channel and into it's own little place but the discovery of those threads is non-existent.
As far as I can tell that is how discord intended them to be used with the auto archiving of inactive threads, a way to have a discussion without flooding a channel and when the discussion ends the thread dies and gets archived
