#[cachyos installation fail]
1 messages Β· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Sometimes the iso can be really slow to load depending on the quality of your USB stick
I cant leave it alone. After waiting exactly for 57 seconds of "waiting for udev to complete device initialization" it crashes or reboots
And its very good usbs
What kind of crash?
I would try another distro iso temporarily, to see if that behaviour is replicated there
The gentoo one would be ideal because it's quite small (quick to download and flash a USB with) and uses a different init from cachy (openrc)
If it doesn't crap out for that then the cachy iso being a problem becomes more likely
Oh uh.. windows 10 works
On this note, ventoy is very handy for testing these things
But i tried bazzite and kind of same problem
Kind of, or exactly?
That's what im using :p
Not sure but i know it fails
Unfortunately it just rebooting is annoying because it gives us basically nothing to work with
No errors, no panic, and all the logs go bye-bye on a reboot
Is there a debugging mode ?
From what you have shown your machine isn't getting to userspace where you can interact with the machine
@blissful ore do u recommand any other distro i could try for gaming
One that boots? π
Yea.. π
The performance differences between distros are really overhyped imo. Most will perform within a couple percentage of others
In my opinion you should pick the one you like best. Whichever one you like how it works, get along with the package manager etc etc
Oh okay thank you
Which distro is this?
Id verify the iso you downloaded with it's checksum
Maybe it got borked during downloading
It would mean every iso i download gets corrupted ?
i dont know how to verify the iso-
That'd be quite unlikely. If they're all being weird on you then it might be your usb stick somehow
i will try a brand new usb
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Installation_guide#Verify_signature arch instructions here but the steps apply across most distros
That looks fun!
That's a kernel panic, the linux equivalent of a blue screen of death. So much so that they're blue as well now
Nothing you can do from there but hard power off
It's very weird that multiple distros on multiple USB sticks all fail.
Last things to check;
- try a different USB port. Sometimes they go weird
- try a memtest, it's possible that hardware faults are causing this.
Sure, hit e on the entry in the grub boot menu and you can adjust the kernel cmdline for that boot
how do i do that
i mean what do i add or edit
i know how to edit but like how to i increase the loglevel -,-
i just add loglevel=7 at the end of the linux line ?
Yep. There should be a line with vmlinuz and a bunch of stuff like root=UUID=blah-blah
That's your kernel cmdline. You can add/remove stuff from that, hit F10 (I think) and boot with that cmdline
okay ill tell you after
Broo
No more kernel panic
Just a crash
And no more information
just came back dw
but umh. before i already installed those oses and it worked fine
i rly dont know whats happening
...
I cant really see bc even when i do a manual reboot they keep spinning
So no
Not power off
Just reboot
ikr
i tried to unplug everything else than the stick
and its just the same
Should i try balena etcher ?
dang
cachy os/bazzite/garuda
I will run a memtest and then ill do that
its my second screen
i mean
i could try without it
yeah i have windows 10 running fine on another ssd
wait ill try both. or just unplug it for now
Exact same problem..
Cant i just skip the udev part ?
I know bruh nothing works ππ»
I tried that Yesterday. Ai told me to but. It didn't bring me far
Im hopeless bruh
Ill show u something wait
That's the launch cmd i use
And theres amdgpu.modeset=1
Is that an issue ?
It is
Its the default one
Module_blacklist=pcspkr
I already launched without it but still
Oh okay
Just .. a 3 ?
Lemme try
Nothing changes
In the selection in grub theres a mode called nomodeset and it already blacklists NVIDIA drivers and NOTHING π
T-T
Nomodeset
Still udev trying to initialize something
Nope
1/3
I will try huh.. Ubuntu ?
Idk if its great for gaming tho
I dont rly like mint.. i mean its user friendly but it doesn't look that good
Zorin works ?
Okee ill try
Nah bro that's crazy ..
IT DOESN'T WORK EITHER
MAYBE IM CRAZY .. ill try again
Well. Just to be sure
Pikaos
Is debian based right ?
Everything should be good for linux π
Okayy
.....
-_-
So..
I tried installing debian
And at the network part it just rebooted
...
Lot of times
Also the weird part is that i already installed those oses before
Umh. Idk if it matters
Theres something u might need to know
The reason i want to change os is because. I dont know why but it happened like 3 times. When i play Fortnite like an hour. My pc crashes violently and every windows installations get corrupted. Last 3 times i also got problems installing linux but at the end it worked but this time it wont work.
How do i run a check-up of my pc from windows
That's what im doing
Ill give u full specs
Always been the same
wait idk how to get the psu
Its a
Corsair
Im trying to see T-T

Umhh i dont think
The only things i touched in my pc was the ram sticks and the thermal paste so..
Should i do a bios reset
Tell me what do i need to put like the basics for linux
it might prefer bios above uefi but 2024 shoulllllld have default uefi already
It crashes right after this
Ill try
I did already dw windows is fine
And i mean i dont rly care abt the windows. Its a new installation since everything got corrupted
Nope not the ram
I disabled that already
I saw a reddit post with the same problem and he fixed it by enabling XMP like overclicking in the bios but it doesn't work for me ._ .
Im hopeless bruh
So hopeless that i tried to boot debian with my other pc with ethernet and still
Yes.
But. Umh if i disable it in windows it wont change anything in linux right ?
Oh
Lol
So..
I tried rufus.balena etcher. Ventoy. And even an Android iso flasher. And all that from. My main pc. My other pc. And my phone.
