LXQt not saving trusted .desktop files on re-log

Hello! I'm running LXQt and have copied .desktop files from /usr/share/applications to ~/Desktop but they are untrusted by default. Despite selecting "Trust this executable" from the context menu, this trust seems to be forgotten about when I log out and log back in.

I'm running the latest version of LXQt as in the Arch repo, having just updated to ensure that it wasn't a bug on the version I was on.

Desktop files copied to ~/Desktop are not automatically trusted.
When you copy .desktop files from /usr/share/applications, their trusted bit is not set for the user session, unlike files installed system-wide.

Make the file executable and set metadata

chmod +x ~/Desktop/*.desktop
gio set ~/Desktop/*.desktop "metadata::trusted" true

Is there another directory I should copy from instead so their trusted bit can be set for the user session? Or is it a situation where I need to just make them from scratch moving forward?

Why would you even copy them? You just keep them in /usr/share/applications and change the *.desktiop however you like.

I copy them from /usr/share/applications simply to have a known working shortcut on my desktop

Unless you're saying I should just make a symlink?

I do of course. I was always able to open the applications in question from the launcher or CLI, I just liked having the option of them being on the desktop too

I'm getting the error Setting attribute metadata::trusted not supported

Isn't there an option for that in the settings, so you don't have to do it manually?

Even when I go through the launcher, right click on an icon and click Add to Desktop, it still isn't trusted

The most I've seen is that pcmanfm-qt has a .desktop creation tool but you still have to copy the information that you see in the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications

In the wiki it says you need to instal GVFS

Just sudo pacman -Sy gvfs will do

And that way it'll remember it
