Using yay -r to remove packages installed through yay will result in "unable to CreateHandle: could not find or read director"
I am using exact same name as install and am able to find the files in file systeam with some digging. The most consitent is when trying to remove files that I had issues downloading, and some were downloaded and removed in a few difffrent versions. (CachyOS Package manager, did not work so moved to yay, downloaded but can't remove.)

You're supposed and meant to use pacman, not yay.
Use pacman -Rs to remove
.aw pacman rosetta
Pacman rosetta
Then, try to reinstall yay entirely
sudo pacman -Rns yay
Removes yay an it's config
Reinstall from it's repo
Can i ask why the reinstall step? (pacman -Rs did work thanks)

Because a pacman and libalpm update requires you to reinstall yay entirely
Same for paru
