#Can’t boot install media

The boot image which I downloaded from the torrent, verified with both GPG and SHA256 will not boot whatsoever. It hangs on “waiting for udev to complete device initialization” and then shuts down. I don’t know if these little errors upon startup do anything. I tried with 3 different usb sticks on both case and motherboard ports with slightly changed Rufus settings (ISO image, DD, MBR/GPT) and nothing has worked.

Fast boot and secure boot are off and I am not running with RAID.

Please ping me when replying to this thread. This server is buried in my folders and pinging me makes it much easier to access. Thank you.

I used the same USB stick I’m actively using to install Windows. I know almost 100% it is not the problem.

I will try that then.

I attempted BalenaEtcher but I couldn’t get it to work.

Quick check of the Wiki and it turns out I was correct.

#

Probably should have checked that first, sorry!

#

Still the same error.

BIOS settings restore to default and turn off secure/fast boot again.

echo trellis
#

None of my BIOS settings were changed except for my ram speed anyway.

#

I previously attached an image of the error it gave me upon rebooting. Has this been looked into?

I have it running to do troubleshooting with Ventoy/Rufus/Balena/etc.

Are you going to install linux for dual boot?

echo trellis
#

Nope.

#

Full Linux. No Windows.

#

I’m done with Windows.

#

I have 3 drives. One has all my important data on it, one has Windows (the one in the screenshot) and one has nothing.

#

I want to install Linux to the nothing drive.

lapis violet
#

ok, disconnect the other two drives. only the third drive remain for Linux install image.

echo trellis
#

I can disconnect one but I’m not taking out my GPU to disconnect my second ssd right now.

#

Is that required?

lapis violet
#

You have three SSD NVME drives?

echo trellis
#

2 NVME m.2

#

One is a portable SSD connected via USB3.

lapis violet
#

which one are going to install Linux?

echo trellis
#

The first NVME.

#

It has nothing on it currently.

lapis violet
#

In Bios settings are you able to disable windows NVME drive?

echo trellis
#

I don’t think my BIOS has support for that unfortunately.

lapis violet
#

which motherboard?

echo trellis
#

MSI B550m Mortar Max Wifi

the secound PCIE slot has any card in it?

echo trellis
#

I only have my GPU and SSDs.

#

The GPU is in the silver slot, which I assume is the first PCIE lane? So probably not.

lapis violet
#

And you have tried with other USB ports?

#

remove portable SSD connected with USB3, while install linux image.

echo trellis
#

It’s almost 1 am so I do have to sleep now. Thank you for the help, I will try your suggestions in the morning and along with that, I will contact where I got all my PC parts to see if they could help.

lapis violet
#

Alright!

echo trellis
#

I fixed it!!! I unplugged the 2nd NVME.

#

You were right, lol. That must have been the problem.
