#Help with Hybrid Graphics (Intel + RTX 3050) Setup on Arch Linux

Hi everyone,

I’m looking into daily driving vanilla Arch again. I’ve done it before, but I ran into issues with my hybrid graphics setup. My laptop has an Intel integrated GPU and an NVIDIA RTX 3050 as the dedicated card.

What I’d like to achieve is a setup where lightweight tasks run on the integrated GPU, and more intensive tasks (like gaming or rendering) automatically use the dedicated one.

I’ve tried configuring this a few times but ran into performance issues — for example, when running CS2 with prime-run, the game had noticeable micro-lag despite high FPS. My integrated GPU usage was also maxed out (99–100%), which doesn’t happen under Windows.

On my other PC (which is all AMD, no hybrid graphics), Arch runs perfectly fine, so I’d really like to get this working properly.

If anyone has advice, guides, or configuration tips for hybrid graphics setups on Arch (especially Intel + NVIDIA), I’d really appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance!

the game was probably lagging because it tried to use the integrated graphics and not the discrete card

It was happening with other applications as well. I’ve followed the Arch Wiki guide on PRIME and ran the game using prime-run. According to htop, the dedicated GPU was being utilized, but the integrated GPU remained maxed out at 100%.

Is there an additional configuration step I might be missing?
