#Broke randomly after rebooting?

After rebooting to linux from my dual-booted Windows, my arch install is stuck in a reboot loop.

The first sign is that I noticed my wifi adapter stoped working, both in Windows and Linux. When I attempt to boot to arch, I get the following error. It stays on for a little while, and then my system boots back up, only to reboot 20 seconds-ish later. The error message is in the post image

Is everything fast-startup and hibernation related disabled in windows?

#

this stuff

#

That can reserve hardware if you "shut down" windows

polar karma
#

yea I disabled it

#

but I forgot to mention

#

my pc doesnt even pass the post test anymore

drowsy swallow
#

whelp

#

I declare that to be not good!

#

time for a benchtest I'd say

polar karma
#

uhh I don't really know what that is

drowsy swallow
#

Your error mentions the CPU which is sorta kinda very not good imo

polar karma
#

lolll yea I know

#

I mean it really came out of nowhere

#

I was playing minecraft on windows then I reboot to arch and it just breaks instantly

#

but wait how is it supposed to boot without all the components?

#

do I just see if it turns on?

drowsy swallow
#

With any luck your mobo has debug LEDs or will at least beep at you

drowsy swallow
polar karma
#

wait I can still boot to windows without wifi let me try to reboot and fail the post

polar karma
drowsy swallow
#

If it has a video out of its own, sure. Most modern boards do

#

But that's not strictly necessary, if it has debug LEDs or post beeps to inform you whats up. Your mobo manual should say

#

Most motherboards will do two long beeps if there's no video out

polar karma
#

yea I'm trying to reboot to arch rn but it's obviously taking a while

polar karma
#

it's not failing post anymore???

#

but I'm still stuck in that reboot loop

#

definitely switching to nixos after this :(

#

@drowsy swallow alright I'm not failing post anymore but I'm still in that error cycle

drowsy swallow
#

On that topic, do you have any live isos around you can try? Just to exclude that possibility

polar karma
#

unfortunately i don't even have that

#

I'm gonna have to try to find some pc so I can flash an iso

polar karma
#

@drowsy swallow I tried booting off of a Ubuntu live iso but I encountered the same errors

#

sorry for pinging but at this point I don't really know what to do?

drowsy swallow
#

It is most strange

#

Windows still works ok?

polar karma
#

I mean except for wifi which doesnt work both on linux and windows yea pretty much

#

it gets really slow at startup but after a few seconds its fine

drowsy swallow
#

For any sort of hardware trouble it's always worth checking if your machine has any bios updates

#

But I have no clue why it would just randomly start happening

#

Or why windows works fine enough while no linux is happy

polar karma
#

yea I'll try to check for any bios updates

#

it's true that it has been a while that I've done an update

polar karma
#

@drowsy swallow sorry to bother you AGAIN lol but I've updated my bios and reflashed my usb with ubuntu and it still doesn't work

#

might even say it works even worse now because my arch partition isn't even detected by grub

#

not sure if you've got any other ideas to guide me?

drowsy swallow
#

Identical errors?

polar karma
#

not really getting an error it's just stuck in a boot loop

#

and sometimes

#

yea I do get the error that pops up

#

but if I don't touch it it just keeps rebooting indefinetly

drowsy swallow
#

All seems quite weird to me

polar karma
#

i'm starting to run out of options here
