#How can I use CRT TV?

So do you have an active VGA to component converter?
Yes
Like do I need to install some drivers or software?
Also to be clear, it's not active, it's passive if that's what you meant
I don’t think that would work. From what I know, the R5 240 does not support component output over VGA, so a passive adapter will not work
Also I said TV because it's a 240p/480i SD TV, not a PC monitor, hence the difficulty
Passive adapters only work if the GPU outputs YPbPr natively, which the R5 240 does not.
Well my TV has SCART component, and it appears to work fine using composite or rf to the SCART port with my N64 so I would assume if I could get my GPU to output composite it could work?
That unfortunately reinforces the same conclusion
In theory, this would work… but, the R5 and R7 240 does not support composite output
Does your GPU itself have a SCART connector?
I see
(I could be wrong, but I think I am right)
Do you know what GPUs can output it though natively? I may have one that would work
Okay
I might have a like 67 something somewhere
I believe that would work
Maybe I could still attempt the 240?
What would I need to install or do on my PC to try?
Oh wait
Yeah that's the issue, I tried on Windows 10 but Windows 10 refuses to output 480i
Sorry I read that wrong
Interesting
It appeared to recognise the monitor though
I tried CRU among other things, tried changing the GPU bios too but it just refused to go below 640x480p or 960x576i
I need 320x240p or 640x480i, ideally able to easily switch between both
So I was hoping with the flexibility of Linux, it should just let me do any resolution
While I wait for you maybe find something, I'll give it a try. It'll take me 15mins to install my GPU and the cabling
So very frustratingly, I've tried to get it to work, my GPU is definitely working, it detects my CRT but it just won't give me anything but a black screen, I've tried different timings, using xandr and so on and nothing seems to work
I think it might be the cable not being compatible, I tried using direct VGA to SCART cable
apparently it might need specific wiring
I'm having the same issue I did on Windows where it just won't let me select anything lower than 640x480@60hz
Hmmm
