#Ventoy archiso USB not booting up
161 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
yes
where did you put the iso
no gui file managers, show me on cli
lsblk -f
that should work, maybe it's just not detecting the iso
and, how do i fix this?
how big is it?
ls -l /media/mint/Ventoy/archlinux-x86_64.iso
0 bytes
Too few arguments for command addnote!
Usage: .addnote <name> <text>
hold up a second
the iso is empty
it's 0 bytes
had
1.3GB
would it make you feel better if i streamed to you what i am doing?
cause i swear to my life it wasn't empty
grab a new iso from the website and then
run0 rm /media/mint/Ventoy/archlinux-x86_64.iso
run0 mv $HOME/Downloads/archlinux-x86_64.iso /media/mint/Ventoy/archlinux-x86_64.iso
run these 2 commands
save the iso to Downloads
and see this again
what will this do
put the iso in the ventoy?
sudo rm /media/mint/Ventoy/archlinux-x86_64.iso
sudo mv $HOME/Downloads/archlinux-x86_64.iso /media/mint/Ventoy/archlinux-x86_64.iso
they are two different commands, please run them separately
... solved

Thank you
do this
what
Into the iso
so it worked?
show me
To the ventoy screen
try grub2 miode
issue with ventoy then
nuke ventoy and try this https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/USB_flash_installation_medium
just
dd bs=4M if=path/to/archlinux-version-x86_64.iso of=/dev/disk/by-id/usb-My_flash_drive conv=fsync oflag=direct status=progress
modify the placeholders
uhm
don't just copy /path/to/...
you need to replace it
with the actual path
to the iso
the iso should be on your main drive, not the usb
its in DOWNLOADS.
Ok so specify the path then
if=$HOME/Downloads/archlinux-x86_64.iso
put the path to the iso in the downloads folder
so what do i do now
press enter
i already did
wait for it to finish then boot from the usb
to be extra safe, type sudo sync after it is done
and before pulling out the usb
dd bs=4M if=$HOME/Downloads/archlinux-x86_64.iso of=/dev/disk/by-id/usb-VendorCo_ProductCode_7743511093381083846-0:0 conv=fsync oflag=direct status=progress
execute this
failed again
picture
cuz the iso path is wrong
it's not archlinux-x86_64.iso
there should be the version there
in the name
dammit
[just if you wonder why im not doing anything is because i CANT edit the commands in the terminal.
dd bs=4M if=$HOME/Downloads/archlinux-2025.07.01-x86_64.iso of=/dev/disk/by-id/usb-VendorCo_ProductCode_7743511093381083846-0:0 conv=fsync oflag=direct status=progress
execute this
well you're going to have to if you want to use arch
sudo
sudo dd bs=4M if=$HOME/Downloads/archlinux-2025.07.01-x86_64.iso of=/dev/disk/by-id/usb-VendorCo_ProductCode_7743511093381083846-0:0 conv=fsync oflag=direct status=progress
no that isnt my problem
my problem is
i try to change something that isnt at the end
i have to erase EVERYTHING
execute this
already did now waiting
you can use the arrow keys to navigate the command line and you can also press control with the arrow keys to go word by word
ohhh
are you going to use archinstall?
you arent going to have a good time, not trying to be rude
not falling for the trick again
where i use archinstall
it stops working after 1 reboot
so you are going to install manually
I've already helped her install arch manually once, so hopefully it should be okay
other than doing it manually
uh
i don't think other people should install arch for you
do i have to do stuff AFTER installing with archinstall
?
like configure n sh
no?
she insisted on arch, so I tried my best to explain stuff along the way
well yeah
you said after...
