#Psych Engine freezes whenever I try to save edits to a character or add sprites to a stage

Hey thanks for making the thread, I am right now out to get some groceries so I'll look into this when I'm back home. Could you give some more context as to how you installed this program?
mayravixx received a thank you cookie!
Basically, I downloaded the linux version from the github page, extracted it, double-clicked the program, and ran it
it's this right? https://github.com/ShadowMario/FNF-PsychEngine
yeah
It wasn't, so I'll do that
I'll try it again after the update to see if it still has issues
also did you install the dependencies listed for the program?
No, honestly I didn't even know it had any. I don't remember installing any on Ubuntu either, and it worked fine there
wait nvm I was looking at the build instructions
ignore what I said
xD
anyway yeah try after the update and let me know what happens
I can confirm even after a system update, it still freezes the moment I try to add a new sprite to a stage
hmm
@brittle wren why not join the discord server and ask them?
here's the link: https://discord.gg/2ka77eMXDv
I have, no one seems to want to answer
Best case scenario I'm just missing some random package or something. Worst case scenario, it's a genuine bug with the program on arch-based distros, and I have to go straight to the github to submit a report. Until I know for a fact it's a bug I can't do anything though
the thing is the repo is archived so u can't really file an issue
@brittle wren could you launch the program from the terminal and then do it and when it crashes, post the logs here pls
maybe we could get more info there, I mean that stack trace indicates something with libc but 🤷
would an OBS recording also help?
probably, no harm in including it, but if you could post the logs in text form that'd be great please
This is all that opening it with my terminal shows:
[aeryn@snowy Psych Engine]$ ./PsychEngine

[aeryn@snowy Psych Engine]$
-# (for some reason it didn't copy it the first time)
That's actually why I was looking at journalctl to try to figure out what the problem is; basically no useful information at all from the terminal output besides a generic gtk warning that I see every now and then, mostly when working with winetricks
yeah there's nothing helpful :/
Killed is not really anything we can work with xD
I think it may just be a glibc thing
and it may have worked with ubuntu cuz they use a different (older) version of glibc
:/
for now your best bet is to just wait for an answer from their discord server I guess
Unfortunately I'm not going to get one
The best I was told is that it's no longer in development, and that I'm basically sol
I even tried installing glibc just in case, and it still freezes
you don't need to install glibc, it is a core component that is already installed and present on the system :)
True but I also have no other leads :\
sorry 😔
you could maybe try the arch forums
Are you sure? It mentions when signing up that the forums are only for base arch, and not manjaro or anything like that (as it puts it, the "easy arch installers")
oh right, you use endeavouros
yeah you can't rly post there then
:/
I can try the endeavouros forums instead
