run lsblk and send a photo
whats that
how are you installing arch
archinstall
send a photo
of the archinstall when i open it or in the srtorage section?
the drives section
quit archinstall and run lsblk
Here it is
lsblk -f
Here it is
try going into uefi and changing the ahci mode of the drive
What’s uefi?
firmware bios/uefi
Ok
UEFI/CSM/Legacy It'll probably be under the Boot settings of your bios
This one?
no
What is the name
look for it
Ok what do I do now?
Just to check, you ARE wanting to wipe windows out for it. Yeah?
Like I don’t let it boot from windows?
Well, it needs to be marked as UEFI and not legacy, I think? If it was on UEFI, then it should be toggled. It's different on different hardware at times
Well it’s only gonna boot from the usb and hardrive I hope it works
Still nothing
Do you have secure boot on?
Turn it off and try. I know that's something a bit of a hickup.
What do I do
hmm... We might need to see if there's something else that might be stopping it in the bios. Because it SHOULD work if it's on UEFI and has securre boot disabled.
Actually... I do have somthing
@dusk hearth would windows being on fastboot keep Arch from seeing the disk to install on?
^
@fleet raven journalctl | curl -F 'file=@-' https://0x0.st
What’s that
Ok
I’m confused
Oh ok
I admire your entusiasm with arch, but if you don't even know what is this, you will have a hard time with Arch
same with the logcat commands
To be fair, UEFI isn't something they NEED to know. It's borderline a set it and forget it sort of deal. And everyone starts somewhere. The important thing is trying to learn.
Arch is a Linux distribution with unlimited customization and full control
@fleet raven please
sure, but requires will to learn and study a lot. if you are willing to learn even what's the UEFI, then go ahead.
for context:
.aw uefi
It doesn’t show anything
btw, we had 3 cases already where the storage mode and CSM were making it hard for Arch to find the target drive
I'd believe it. I think we went over that in this one.
some UEFI have intel RST, and by disabling it, it makes the drive avaliable for Arch
ping archlinux.org
yeah, the eMMC laptop, today's Asus also not showing the nvme, and now this case. all were an UEFI storage toggle and disabling CSM
Is that a command
run it
you need to connect to internet before installing arch
.aw installation guie
No results found.
.aw installation gide
No results found.
It works
.aw installation guide
I connected
I think Kitten is checking if they've got network or need to connect. If he has network, he's probably cabled in
ethernet needs nothing to be connected. wifi requires to use iwctl
I used iwctl
if ping -c4 archlinux.org says response from , then you're online
then, run the logcat command
it responds
btw, use pacman -Sy fastfetch && fastfetch and send a shot so we can see your system specs
ctrl+c
do ctrl+C
Ok
@fleet raven
I’m doing it
Hazel, yeah he's new. But there's no reason to try and be discouraging.
intel RST + nvidia, what a great and fun hardware combo @sly parcel

you guys gonna love troubleshooting it
this confirms intel UEFI shenanigans hiding the main drive from arch
I'm aware it's a bit of a stack. I looked it up when he posted a picture of his bios.
then, gotta deal with Nvidia whims
read what the cute penguin kernel is saying: bro, switch your storage mode
Ok thank you
signed,
tux
see? intel RST shenanigans all over again @sly parcel
2nd case on this day
This one right?
so, back to UEFI and switch it

Ok
... installarch
@fleet raven try this gist
Ok
it explains how to get a working arch system with btrfs
useful even if you use archinstall. remember to use cfdisk to partition
