#Black Screen while Restoring from Hibernate

Ever since my last -Syu, my system's screen goes black when I restore it from hibernation. It says "resume device found" or whatever, talking about the swap partition, and then the screen goes immediately black when it begins to restore from there. If I'm not running hyprland, it goes black when I try to suspend instead (when I'm running sway or just tty).

Attached is what I upgraded with -Syu this last time. I'm going to try manually downgrading everything and seeing if that solves.

How large is your swap partition and how much ram do you have?

#

Sometimes if the swap space is smaller than ram you can have issues with hybernation

This can happen sometimes with an upstream linux kernel bug, or upgrading stuff like bios and not rebooting or config files not getting updated. If rebooting doesn't fix hybernation I would try booting the lts-kernel if you don't already use it, then look at journalctl logs to see if there are error messages.

update: lts kernel doesn't work. I tried hibernating with music playing and the music resumed on the black screen. This suggests that its a problem with the screen rather than a problem with anyhthing else.

the guy here had the same issue, but the way he solved it doesn't work for me (?)

Or if you have inxi installed you can run that command which shows hardware info.
