Hi, so I don't really know why, because I don't use them often but now when I tried they give me these error.

  • kicad: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libsecret-1.so.0: undefined symbol: g_variant_builder_init_static
  • flatpak: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libostree-1.so.1: undefined symbol: g_unix_mount_entry_free

Does someone know what could be the problem?

I'll try for kicad but it's that i'd prefer to fix if it's a known problem

I tried to update glib2 separately and it outputed this : glib2 is in IgnorePkg/IgnoreGroup. But i installed it anyway and now they both work

@half stone remove IgnorePkg = glib2

#

why was it there?

half stone
#

I don't know I never added it

pine nest
#

you should know why you added it

half stone
# pine nest you should know why you added it

yeah I noticed I lack a lot of knowledge to be able to use arch comfortably that's why I was gonna learn more about the AUR and package managers in general this summer. do you have any advice to not make this mistakes and debug them myself?

pine nest
#

@half stone how did you install arch?

half stone
#

I did it like 10 times before installing it directly on my pc

pine nest
half stone
#

no, just a little when I didn't understand something

pine nest
#

what made you decide to go to arch?

half stone
#

I wanted to use hyprland, I liked prasanthrangan's hyprdots and I didn't like windows 11

thin hatch
#

Well those things aren't really exclusive to Arch, but it's alright to use it, just need to make sure you properly take care of your system

#

Anyway, just remove the IgnorePkg line, maybe one of the guides you followed had you add it, but it's not a good idea to hold packages behind for long periods

#

@half stone

#

Especially for important libraries like glib2

Now try updating your system again and see if the issue continues

half stone

I had already updated it separately and it worked, I removed the line after
