#[SOLVED] Dual Booting Help

I recently installed Arch Linux on a separate NVMe drive alongside Windows 11 in a UEFI system. After installing Arch and configuring GRUB, Windows stopped booting. I believe the Windows Boot Manager may have been corrupted.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
• Disabled Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS
• Tried to run bootrec /fixboot, bootrec /scanos, etc. from the Windows recovery environment — but it either fails or bluescreens
• Re-enabled Secure Boot, but Windows still won’t load
• Arch Linux is booting fine via GRUB
• Both OSes are on separate NVMe drives

I’m looking for help to either restore the Windows bootloader or get GRUB to properly chainload Windows without breaking Arch. Any advice is appreciated.

@timber kite can you get into windows via boot manager?

timber kite

Through a USB. I partitioned it all myself

#

I did not use the script

Okay. Give me like 5 minutes. I am sorry. I am installing a VM. If I can get this to work I may honestly just stay with Linux

#

I just need Windows for school

distant glacier
timber kite
#

Really just lockdown browser but I know there may be an issue with the VM

#

Unfortunatly

distant glacier
#

How longs the class? If 3 months or less you can freely download the Windows 11 Enterprise ISO and install it in a VM, it comes with a 90 (180?) day usage.

timber kite
#

But can I use that with a lockdown browser? I have a key

timber kite
#

I didnt know you could use it in a VM

distant glacier
#

I would ask whoever I'm taking the class for to provide a laptop that this could be run on

#

I'll get a second hand laptop with the os required and keep that ONLY for exams. After the exam, I'll close the thing and put it in a drawer until the next test.

Thats a pretty good idea honestly

distant glacier
#

no dualboot needed

#

Perhaps it is a good idea to start a signature campaign asking the Respondus company to support Linux, as well as Virtual machine usage. Only supporting Windows and Mac and no Virtual machine by them, is basically locking countless of Linux using people out.
