My screen suddenly went black a couple minutes ago, sound stopped, pressing the power button (re?)booted the laptop. The weirdest thing is nothing shows in dmesg or journalctl. Also, some time before that my battery status monitor mistakenly notified me about a low battery level, before updating to the correct one. The laptop is at almost-full battery and connected to power.

gonna be hard to figure that out without any logs
but it sounds like it could be a hardware issue
or software not detecting properly the battery level

it indeed seems to be so
apparently the laptop's battery is old and acpi reports its level incorrectly
and sometimes it prompts systemd to hibernate even though it appears as though the level was high?
i think its time to let this laptop go tbh
