2019 MBP 16 in unable to boot into usb edit: new problem
I'm back
new problem in post desc
but just in case here it is again
upon booting into this linux usb and getting into the shell, I'm unable to type anything. AFter roughly 30 seconds, a message displays saying "[204.743213] applesmc applesmc.768: probe with driver applesmc failed with error -5"
after this message displays the "root@archiso ~" doesn't appear again
and it just leaves an empty cursor
Sadly, as an apple error, I don't know. :c
no problem, hopefully someone else does or I can find a solution on google
I'll post the solution in case I find it
(photo for ref)
before anyone says yes I have tried turning it off and on again
yeah I saw that too
problem is
I can't get from step 2-3
because I can't type in the terminal
like the keys physically don't do anything
power button works tho so it's not completely broken

seems like it could be a potential fix, although how do I do this? where do I find the kerenel module?
I tried looking further in the thread but it runs dry
sorry idk too, hope someone know that
I see no problem
hopefully someone else will figure it out or I can find a fix
if I do I'll update here
have you tried to reset SMC?
how do I do that?
also, I figured out I can still type in terminal after with ext. keyboard
which is weird
hmm
try this
The SMC is responsible for managing power on your Mac. Resetting it can resolve certain uncommon issues related to power or thermal management.
unfortunately for my timezone it's getting late
I will try in the morning
thankyou
I tried doing this and it unfortunately doesn't remove the error
and I still can't type without an external keyboard
when I do use an external keyboard my wifi doesn't show up
oh boy
the joys of debugging
ok
so
to this original thread if anyone is wondering
it was resolved by installing the t2 chip version of the arch iso
