Global themes are commonly provided by end users and not monitored. You should use extreme caution when downloading and applying global themes. They can run arbitrary code and loss of user data has occurred.

plasma is the de

hearty cypress
#

i see....can i see in terminal what i am using, i was under the impression that i was using kde

#

: (

lime pelican
#

KDE is a software project currently comprising a desktop environment known as Plasma

hearty cypress
#

i see, so i am running kde with plasma ? like kde plasma 6 ?

lime pelican
#

yes

hearty cypress
#

what is gruvbox ?

hearty cypress
#

i see

#

anyways i can undestand how things work ? i dont really about the data since i just use this laptop to play games and learn linux

lime pelican
#

@hearty cypress almost all of that is too advanced for you

hearty cypress
#

how can i learn ?

lime pelican
#

what terminal editor do you use?

hearty cypress
#

the normal konsole....?

lime pelican
#

that is a terminal

#

terminal edtor is nano or vim

hearty cypress
#

oh......are you saying something like vim ?

#

i used nano when i was installing the arch

hearty cypress
#

shouldnt there be a guide somewhere ? like all these people making all these cool ass desktops/Rice and there are no guides available for it ?

@hearty cypress do you have a background set?

hearty cypress
#

you mean a wallpaper ? i have default one set

lime pelican
#

go get a wallpaper you like

hearty cypress
#

done

lime pelican
#

install a terminal based editor

hearty cypress
#

vim or nano which is better ?

lime pelican
#

it's a preference

hearty cypress
#

for a beginner ?

lime pelican
#

I use neovim

hearty cypress
#

whats neovim ?

#

nvm i will just get neovim

lime pelican
#

Neovim is a fork of Vim aiming to improve the codebase, allowing for easier implementation of APIs, improved user experience and plugin implementation.

hearty cypress
#

installed neovim

lime pelican
#

this is my neovim config

lime pelican
hearty cypress
#

ohh

#

what do i need this for ?

lime pelican
hearty cypress
#

the neovim i mean

lime pelican
hearty cypress
#

ohhh and why cant normal konsole work for this ?

lime pelican
#

konsole is a terminal, not a terminal editor

hearty cypress
#

i might need to learn more about this whole thing

#

becuase I UNDERSTAND NOTHING

#

: D

lime pelican
#

this is why we don't go to arch for "my first linux experience"

hearty cypress
#

haha i love it when i am truly miserable, theres just something about being in a constant state of anxiety and uncertainity eating you from the inside

#

i will continue to learn more about this whole thing and close this thread for now

[SOLVED]I just installed arch linux and i have no idea what to do......

lime pelican

don't go for the unixporn/socks right away, start with what you have now, and in time, you will be able to do the config you want

@hearty cypress if you really want to get a smooth looking and mid weight DE you shou should give hyprland a try, it's easy to configure and so far its my first time using linux too and im on arch for 2 days and hyprland is doing great for me

#

p.s i'm using hyprland with gnome but kde won't be any less

^^^ this is what i watched to install hyprland without problems sort of a recent video so you shouldn't come to any problems if you do i could help

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSXFXpVZ9kY&t=185s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW3JKs1_oVI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EujO_5KvCCo

these 3 videos should help you learn basic customization of hyprland, the rest you can tweak everything by yourself or seek for guides online maybe by the community instead of youtube since there aren't many good guides on youtube
or ask chatgpt hyprland actually has a chatgpt redirecting button sobMeltdown

hearty cypress

slim raven

i keep clicking alt tab though sobMeltdown

hearty cypress
#

what happens when you press alt tab ?

slim raven
#

alt tab is to switch thru tabs on windows

#

its win+tab aka super+tab on linux

#

u can customzie binds tho

hearty cypress
#

it works in arch

#

by dafault

#

atleast in my machine

slim raven
#

idk its super tab for me but i dont wanna change i prefer to learn default binds

#

i might change some binds to make them closer to my hand

hearty cypress
#

i use kde plasma 6, default everything

#

it was like this for me out of the box

slim raven
#

i use arch & gnome

#

for hyprland

hearty cypress

slim raven
#

hearty cypress
#
