#Installation tips w/ NVIDIA

Hi,
I’ve reinstalled Arch Linux close to 15 times (via the manual method kill meee).

The installation is fine, the issue I tend to face is post installation when booting in I get a black screen with an unblinking underscore. I’ve narrowed this down to it being nvidia, installing the drivers has worked ONCE after a big kerfuffle with forcing it to enable and yady yady yada.

Would anyone have any tips on how to install Arch Linux and ensure it works with my nvidia gpu?

@golden prawn I usually install the lts along with the main kernel anyway. It doesn’t make much of a difference.

Been using Gnome, but I suppose I can try KDE plasma or neon or whatever

#

Wayland probably. I never specify which means it likely defaults to Wayland

golden prawn
#

pick x11 instead

warped current

Will do. Should I do this manually or via the script?

warped current

Oh I meant the whole install

linux-6.10.10.arch1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst should be the right one

#

sudo pacman -U https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/l/linux/linux-6.10.10.arch1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst works for downgrading

#

so you can try
install normally > chroot > use that to downgrade

#

assuming you can chroot (you should ig)

#

same for the headers

warped current
#

So just installing the new version, and then downgrading
