The short: I'm wanting to use the AUR to install mp3tag, there is an AUR package for it, but it states out of date and people are stating it doesn't install due to a mismatch on the checksum.

The question: What can be done for these packages, can I contribute to fix the package, or is there a way to somehow sideload the new executable with a new checksum and have it use that for the installation?

From the sounds of it, it looks like a simple metadata change honestly, just pointing to where the new location of the download will be. But I don't fully know what goes on for the AUR.

@untold goblet submit a request for that package to be orphaned then takeover the package

you need to make a request for it to be orphaned

By submitting an orphan request, you ask a Package Maintainer to disown the package base. Please only do this if the package needs maintainer action, the maintainer is MIA and you already tried to contact the maintainer previously.
