@upper mantle are you in a live iso?
i dont know what you mean by live iso
I am just booted into linux right now
KDE wayland
@upper mantleare you in arch right now?
yes I am
@upper mantle photo please
@upper mantle reboot into a live iso
gui would be preferred
i dont know how to do that then
because if i boot into the arch usb there is no gui only text and stuff
@noble ether can you elaborate
@upper mantle try gparted iso
@upper mantle this one https://downloads.sourceforge.net/gparted/gparted-live-1.6.0-3-amd64.iso
is there a tool like rufus for arch?
@upper mantle ventoy
it's an aur package and i'm not sure how to install those
clone the repo
can you mention the command real quick
ok there is a crucial package for that i dont have install let me install real quick
ok i've done that
what to do now to launch ventoy
@upper mantle open it
i dont see any ventoy application
@upper mantle reboot
i did
so i ran git clone
and url of both ventoy and ventoy bin
and still no app
pacman -Q ventoy-bin
you didn't install the package
well i ran the git clone ventoy
is there something else aside from git clone i have to do?
@upper mantle
the other parts
what do you mean the other parts?
@upper mantle
photo please
I'm sorry i don't have too much linux experience
@upper mantle cd ventoy-bin
makepkg -si
already did this
this is what it tells me
@noble ether
okay nvm
it worked now
now open it
what does this command do exactly btw
what is it's general use
btw you can tell me if i should stop pinging you
btw ventoy app still unavailable
I'll reinstall again
i got it
now ill install iso
@noble ether very sorry for the wait the browser took a while to download
i have the iso and ventoy
@noble ether i have installed ventoy into the usb what do i do now
@upper mantle move gparted to the usb
i moved the .iso file into the usb then
reboot and pick usb
bios
alright i see
before i do that do you mind telling me if simply moving the iso into the usb after installing ventoy is enough?
in this manner?
yes, (optional) make a folder called iso's
okay
@noble ether i’m in gparted what do i do
What boot option do i choose
Normal grub2 or memdisk mode
normal
@upper mantle first one
Alright
then shrink it
And then i add to free space right
So i want 20gb
But im not sure what to imput in these values
What values do i imput so i can make 20gb of unallocated space from my windows partition
change align to gb
There is only cylinder mib and none
@upper mantle https://www.gbmb.org/mib-to-gb
Look i know the conversion but
Im not sure what to put in the values
Where do i put 20k mib
@upper mantle first one
And what do i put in the second and 3rd one?
Ph
Ph
Oh
I can just move the slider
@noble ether i have the unallocated space what now
@upper mantle photo please
@noble ether
I’ll just wait until you’re back lol
@noble ether there is a efi partition between unallocated space and linux partition
Is there a way to move it so i can resize please

Thank you
so i will say for help sake that
you need to use the windows disk partition manager to allocate free space
and you need to take care of some things like deactivate pagesys and hybernation
and after that's done defrag and optimize your disk
and windows will let you partition
after that u can use gparted to move partitions and resize
thank you @noble ether
