dumb question but just to make sure

noble ether
upper mantle
#

#

because if i boot into the arch usb there is no gui only text and stuff

#

@noble ether can you elaborate

noble ether
#

@upper mantle try gparted iso

upper mantle
#

#

@noble ether ?

noble ether
upper mantle

upper mantle
noble ether
upper mantle
noble ether

#

makepkg -si

upper mantle
#

upper mantle
#

i dont see any ventoy application

noble ether
#

@upper mantle reboot

upper mantle
#

upper mantle
noble ether

noble ether
upper mantle
#

noble ether
#

makepkg -si

upper mantle
#

I'm sorry i don't have too much linux experience

noble ether
#

@upper mantle ls

#

photo of that please

upper mantle
#

oops

#

noble ether
#

@upper mantle cd ventoy-bin

upper mantle
noble ether
upper mantle
#

this is what it tells me

#

@noble ether

#

okay nvm

#

it worked now

noble ether
upper mantle
#

what is it's general use

#

btw you can tell me if i should stop pinging you

upper mantle
#

i see

@noble ether very sorry for the wait the browser took a while to download

i have the iso and ventoy

#

@noble ether i have installed ventoy into the usb what do i do now

noble ether
#

@upper mantle move gparted to the usb

upper mantle
#

i moved the .iso file into the usb then

noble ether
upper mantle
#

alright

#

will it be in grub menu

#

or do i go into bios

noble ether
upper mantle
#

alright i see

upper mantle
# noble ether bios

before i do that do you mind telling me if simply moving the iso into the usb after installing ventoy is enough?

#

in this manner?

noble ether
upper mantle
#

okay

upper mantle
#

@noble ether i’m in gparted what do i do

#

What boot option do i choose

#

Normal grub2 or memdisk mode

noble ether
upper mantle
#

I am prompted with this screen

noble ether
#

@upper mantle first one

upper mantle
#

Alright

noble ether
#

then shrink it

upper mantle
#

Idk what that menu is

#

On right click i see this

noble ether
upper mantle
#

And then i add to free space right

#

So i want 20gb

#

But im not sure what to imput in these values

#

What values do i imput so i can make 20gb of unallocated space from my windows partition

upper mantle
#

There is only cylinder mib and none

noble ether
upper mantle
#

Look i know the conversion but

#

Im not sure what to put in the values

#

Where do i put 20k mib

noble ether
#

@upper mantle first one

upper mantle
#

And what do i put in the second and 3rd one?

#

Ph

#

Ph

#

I can just move the slider

#

@noble ether i have the unallocated space what now

noble ether
#

@upper mantle photo please

upper mantle
#

@noble ether

#

I’ll just wait until you’re back lol

#

@noble ether there is a efi partition between unallocated space and linux partition

Is there a way to move it so i can resize please

Thank you

upper mantle
#

so i will say for help sake that

#

you need to use the windows disk partition manager to allocate free space

#

and you need to take care of some things like deactivate pagesys and hybernation

#

and after that's done defrag and optimize your disk

#

and windows will let you partition

#

after that u can use gparted to move partitions and resize

#

thank you @noble ether
