My games are launching on the wrong monitor, and when I move them to my primary monitor, they ignore my mouse, if I move them back, it's fine
Video example, this happens on at least 4 games, haven't tried more, but it only seems to affect games in wine so far?
The games do work with direct keybord input, but ignores my mouse

It works fine if I turn off my laptop's display
But that kind of defeats the purpose of having a dual monitor setup
Anyway, I'm kinda out of options. Have you tried switching to wayland and see if that helps?
No because Wayland fucks my shit up waaaaay worse
MAYBE you could see if you can tell steam/proton to open the game on the other monitor via flags, but at this point you should just go see proton's docs and idk if it's worth the hassle
Is there something like a hardware mouse option on KDE? Try disabling it and see if that works
Don't see anything
I see. I think your best chance is to go to arch's forums and see if anyone there has an answer. Quick tip: if you do, write about what you already tried to do and didn't work, it will be easier for others to help you.
@jovial dock Have you considered using a different proton version?
That's the only thing I've not done
Because I don't really know which ones to try
Do I just...descend the list from proton up?
Also are you on X11 or Wayland?
X11
Wayland is incredibly broken for me
I personally use proton 8.5 since its the best for me
I usually stay up to date
Oh damn, (Idk much about x11) but is xorg correctly set up
It should be
How should I check that / send it?
Idk where it is but I think /etc/x something
I've used dual monitor setups like this before, and never had issues
And your mouse is the only thing not working? And only beacuse of proton or?
But in those cases, my monitor was on the other side of my laptop so...?
Only the mouse, and likely because of proton
Because native games work fine
Hmm okay, youre on a laptop right?
Well you see
The monitor is hooked directly to the GPU
No GPU no monitor
Probably? But it's janky and they don't run very well
I know it is janky, but does your mouse work there?
Idk, I run everything through Proton
But I could try
Lemme see which games I could try
Ah
Knossu
Game doesn't have a cursor hm
Uhm
VOTV
Lemme try
On wayland there's a package called wayland-cursor-fix.. I know this doesnt help you but maybe theres smth for x11 as well
Well
I'll have a look
Nope
That fixed my cursor issues for minecraft back then
I know
Anyway
Yeah can't run anything with wine, I don't have many .exe which aren't games
I have two
I'll try some other proton versions
Should I try major versions or?
What versions should I try
Because there's...a lot
I suppose I could instal all of them
I used to use 8.5 since thats the one which runs almost every game
and it workes for me
My friend gets more fps on 8.5 However were talking about wayland DEs
I'll try with another monitor
Match refresh rate
Switch the side that the monitor is on
okay
But I gotta organize some clothing rn
Alright, have fun!
Alright, I have returned
OH MY FUCKING GOD
PUTTING MY MONITOR ON THE OTHER SIDE FIXED IT
WHY
@frank tokenYou seeing this shit??
So, it seems that things want to start on the monitor which is 0,0
Ok so, it seems that nvidia is fighting with kde maybe?
Or X11?
@jovial dock
tried xrandr --listmonitors then xrandr --output MONITOR --primary
also
add environment wariable
Explain?
DISPLAY:$2
Done
Yes
and HDMI-1 is ur
The one I want to use as primary is the hdmi one
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --primary
Done
try to start the game now
It's 0 btw
where u launch the game from
use this start option:
DISPLAY=:1 %command%
hmm maybe run a new display server
0 works
like X :0 &
But it launches ON THE LAPTOP
Uhhhh
laptop is the :0
But it says...
I have no idea what this means
Also we didn't do the variable
open tty at second monitor and try to run X :0 &
Second monitor being...the laptop or the external display?
Because I can't run tty on the external display
Only the laptop one
Ok, how do I set that up
In steam?
yes
gamescope is made by steam soo
they also have some nice features
i like that compositor
Cringe
Yeah
damn
it worked?
yes it should work
use %command% for apps and bash commands
Now I just need to...append...every...game
well
pray for valve to integrate gamescope so u dont have to type every time
its integrated in steam os i guess
you can just toggle it
Fuckin' 'ell
Fucken maybe
Well took you longer than 1 second, so no 5 bucks for you
Thanks for the help though
How do I mark this as solved
go top of the channel and try to edit tags
