Trying to install Arch on a new computer
Downloaded the ISO from Arch website, rufus'd it to a USB Drive, booted
And before it even gets to the installation screen, I get 4 "A start job is running for"
Wait Network to be Configured
Wait Until Kernel Time Synchronized
Wait for udev to Complete Device Initialization
Load/Save Screen Backlight Brightness of leds:asus::kbd_backlight

After 5 minutes I get these errors

You can try reflashing the ISO, and/or try another tool like Ventoy

fluid cypress
#

Ill try Ventoy and get back at you

#

Same thing still

#

Downloading ISO from torrent fixed it, but now on rebooting after install gets it stuck on start job for Network Manager and User Login Management

I swear I've responded to this?

#

yeah, in the archinstall server...

#

anyway

#

what WM/DE are you using?

fluid cypress
#

I followed a video so my archinstall looks pretty much like this

#

all I did was reboot after installation

#

did not chroot even though it is default, don't know if it's relevant

orchid drift
#

given you're new I'd suggest either gnome or plasma-meta

#

what you want to do is go into a TTY, log in, and install one of those two, unless you have got a DE or WM already?

fluid cypress
#

WE/DE would be in profile, correct

#

Im following this

orchid drift
#

we don't use youtube video guides

#

they aren't reliable

fluid cypress
#

oh sorry

orchid drift
#

we use the archwiki

fluid cypress
#

well

#

this, I guess

orchid drift
#

as I say, we use the arch wiki, are you trying to install hyprland?

fluid cypress
#

yes

orchid drift
#

okay, I haven't, and don't want to use hyprland, mainly because the dev is a despicable human being, so, I can't really help you there, but if you're new to linux I'd generally suggest a DE, not a WM.

fluid cypress
#

I'm new to arch, and linux as a whole, community, so don't really know about those things, I just chose Hyprland because I think it looks better
If it's ok to ask here, I would like to know why you say that about the dev

I would rather have a WM instead of a DE for the same reason I chose Hyprland, if possible..

Ticket #2123 opened in #1255966854229266502

fluid cypress
#

No Access

orchid drift
#

you're about to get access, lol, be patient

fluid cypress
#

Sorry, sorry

orchid drift
#

There will be a way to install and configure hyprland from the machine as it is, I just won't be looking into it personally

fluid cypress
#

I myself lost all my desire to use hyprland

#

on to making arch work though, I will try reinstalling it with profile set to desktop and get back to you on how that went

orchid drift
#

you don't need to do that

#

you can just install whatever the other thing is

#

what is it you want to install?

fluid cypress
#

qtile since it has support for X11 and I'd rather have a WM

fluid cypress
#

reinstalled arch with profile set to desktop and this is after rebooting for the first time
