What

little sorrel
#

hello

lapis raven
#

You didn't read the rules, did you?

#

Have fun with mute lol

๐Ÿ’€

#

Download the etcher appimage

#

from the website

#

then double click it

#

if you used etcher on windows for kubuntu then the process is the same but in reverse

#

you need to use the windows iso this time

#

hmm

#

one sec

#

?

#

what's turning green and blue

#

ok there's another way

#

download the .deb file

#

and run that

#

it should open the software center

#

just click on install and let it finish

#

balena should appear in your start menu

lapis raven
#

To run AppImages on Arch, you need Fuse2 apparently

little sorrel
#

does it give you an error?

#

can you send it?

#

one sec looking it up

#

There's other distributions too

#

Also Arch-based Ones that have calamares as a GUI installer

#

Then maybe Linux isn't forf you

little sorrel
lapis raven
#

I used Manjaro when i got Linux?

#

It was pretty easy

#

Oh we're out of track

little sorrel
#

Not everyone likes messing with the command line

#

and manjaro has other issues

lapis raven

#

But you'll end up using the command line in the end

#

ignore them

lapis raven
#

I am not even talking to you anymore at this point, Earlier i was offering advice,

little sorrel
#

anyway I am gonna keep trying to find the reason why kubuntu is fucking up

lapis raven
#

LOL true

#

Well what do you want as an OS

hollow pewterBOT
#

Too few arguments for command addnote!
Usage: .addnote <name> <text>

lapis raven
#

Go to sleep

little sorrel
#

I'll need you to run a command, don't worry it's not gonna be anything crazy

#

hopefully it'll tell us what kind of dependency is not being met

lapis raven
#

Never do any of this when you're tired

little sorrel
#

go into your downloads folder and right click on the empty space. It should have an 'open in terminal' button or something like that

#

then type sudo apt install ./<name of the balena etcher .deb file>

#

should look something like this in the end sudo apt install ./balena-etcher_1.17.0_amd64.deb

#

you can press tab while typing the first few letters of the name to autocomplete

#

it will ask you for the password, just type it in and tell me what kind of output it throws back at you

#

you typed the .deb file right?

#

not the .appimage

#

ok that's really weird

#

๐Ÿ‘

#

You didn't type sudo at the beginning

#

it's alr

#

sudo?

#

stands for superuser do

#

try typing sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade Then try running the previous command again. If that doesn't work then some really smart person in the kubuntu team decided that it would be a great idea to hold back some package updates and broke a bunch of shit in the process

#

yeah that should work

little sorrel
#

sure. If you have the iso installed already you can probably just drag it into the usb and pull it out from the usb at the other computer

uneven zealot
little sorrel
#

the ventoy installer uses the command line. It's probably easier for them to just use their other PC

#

though if they are up to try it then it should work

#

unless kubuntu broke more stuff

#

๐Ÿ‘

#

rufus or etcher should work

#

I usually prefer etcher because it looks nicer, but that's just a persoal preference

#

ig that works too, but I think microsoft's flasher is slower, haven't used it too many times to verify it

uneven zealot
#

ventoy has a gui fyi,

little sorrel
uneven zealot
#

rufus does not wonk on linux fyi

... litany

hollow pewterBOT
#

#14995 ๐Ÿ“ฃ Please follow the Standard Litany [1] when asking a question:
โ€ข What was your environment? What was your operating system, configuration?
โ€ข What did you do? What did you run or test? Where?
โ€ข What actually happened? What were the exact results, complete log contents, exact error messages?
โ€ข What did you expect? What were you aiming to achieve? What result were you looking for?

Vague or superficial questions will yield vague or superficial answers. False information leads to false solutions.

Also see this similar guide on how to ask smart questions [2].
