#data recovery and disk checking tools

most modern disks actually know their own health, and you can ask them nicely about it with smartctl
smartctl is provided by extra/smartmontools
well, i got outdated disk
abt half of them use non SATA connections
(idk the name of those connections)
newer IDE drives also have SMART support
its not as new as you'd think
give it a try
what filesystems were those disks on
idk
some could have stored old versions of windows
ive seen mentions of xp on a few
(wriiten with a marker on them)
is running it with -H flag enough, or should i look into it more by using -a or -x flags?
@final tundra one of the disks returned an unusual result, what does this mean?
another one
this one does not have smart
thats what i though, what abt the other?
idk probably too old for its smart to be useful
also abt a third of the disk wouldn't show up when plugged in for some reason, even though they did last time i checked them
well these disks are probably unsafe to store data on by this point
yea
ill just recover data if possible and take them apart
either way 3tb one has passed so i'm glad abt that
checking them again, one showed up and shows this error
@final tundra any idea what it means?
another one
similar one
also few of the disks asked me to enable smart by adding -s on flag
