jdk issue - visual studio code?

im trying to get this boilerplate mobile app up and running on linux however im running into an issue with gradle

i also just installed android studio so not sure why that is highlighted in red?
am i meant to configure jdk in android studio?

idk a better discord community to get help with this with cus technically this all would be easier on windows isn't this a linux issue sorta in terms of attempting to configure and setup the envrionment? its unecessarily complicated

if someone could please redirect me as to where i can get better help it would be appreciated

You need to install the JDK, not the runtime

You can also see the logs of the error on VSCode for more verbose
