The snapdragon x elite chip was announced recently along with some new laptops, (lenovo, dell, surface) and I wanted to ask if there is going to be some way I can install arch linux on these new laptops?
Would I be able to install arch linux arm on these laptops? In case I can, what is the difference between arch linux arm and normal arch linux? Are there some applications that cannot run on this distributions? would I notice the difference between vanilla arch?
In case I can't, what about macbooks with their sillicon chips? I saw somewhere that someone installed arch on one of those but I don't remember where or if there was a reliable way of doing it.
I would just like to try arch with an arm based chip and I don't now if this is possible.

@mint girder arch linux arm is not as updated as stock arch https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=290931
and ArchLinuxARM has less packages then stock arch
if you wait, arch is proposing to add official support for arm https://rfc.archlinux.page/0032-arch-linux-ports/
or you can go to distros that have official support ie debian

Thank you
hey, thanks! do you have any idea of how much time will this support take? We are talking about years right?
killertofus received a thank you cookie!
also, concretely for these devices, it does not matter thay they are new and have quadcomm cpus? How can I be certain that one specific cpu is supported?
For example I see that manjaro does have ARM support. Does that mean that I can install manjaro on these new laptops?
@mint girder not recommended to install manjaro
if it's arm. chances are debian will work on it
thanks!
you're welcome
