#[Fixed] /var/lib/flatpak/repo/objects WAY too large and nothing fixes it

This issue has been a plague ever since i installed arch last year. My root partition is 50gb which i thought would be enough but this folder making up literally 12,3gb was NOT planned. no matter what I do it doesnt work. I already deleted the entire folders contents, ran sudo flatpak repair and it came BACK in full size. heres all the things i ran

flatpak repair --user
sudo ostree prune --repo=/var/lib/flatpak/repo
sudo flatpak repair

None of this helped and this folder is still one of the biggest in my entire root partition. I kept reading that people running those three commands above magically fixed it and reduced the size to less than a gigabyte, but none of them helped me at all. Not even basically deleting it all.
Please help fix this.

@broken sonnet what flatpak app(s) are you using?

#

this is the output of sudo flatpak list

#

this same issue happened not just on this install

#

i reinstalled arch a few times before and the same folder was always this large

!!![Still need Help]!!! /var/lib/flatpak/repo/objects WAY too large and nothing fixes it

#

@broken sonnet why not use the native packages instead?

broken sonnet
#

i need help with flatpaks taking up too much of my root partition and not try and switch every single package i could to the AUR version if there even is one for all of them

broken sonnet
#

plus with some of these the flatpaks just run better

#

like OBS allows me to use certain plugins that i cant on the system install

broken sonnet
#

@hot meadow this does not help in any way shape or form

#

im trying to fix my flatpaks and not get reasons to remove flatpaks from my systems

hot meadow
#

flatpak --columns=app,name,size,installation list

broken sonnet
#

what i dont understand is usually most of the data of flatpaks is installed in .var in the home folder

#

so /var/lib/flatpak/repo/objects being THIS massive doesnt make sense at all

#

especially since a lot of people reported that they fixed it to get down to around 100mb

#

but the commands they used never fixed my issues

hot meadow
#

sudo flatpak repair

broken sonnet
#

the flatpaks are ofcourse large but thats not my issue its just that specific folder\

broken sonnet
#

like actually

#

im sorry but

#

i already did that around 5 times

#

" heres all the things i ran:"

#

i already ran a lot of commands i found in reddit post or just general forums and none of them worked

#

this is my issue

#

and i dont know what this folder is even doing

#

since i deleted it all and my flatpak restored it back to its full size

#

Also you sent me links of the OBS and nextcloud flatpak, theres a reason I use these. Nextcloud flatpak was the only one that WORKED and OBS just generally is better on the flatpak since its official im pretty sure

@broken sonnet are the flatpaks updated?

aaa

#

help

broken sonnet
#

....im so stupid

#

the entire issue is

#

that my packages are installed systemwide not userwide

#

ofcourse my root partition is so massive

#

i added flathub as a systemrepo and not a user repo by specifying --user

#

how can i be such a dunce
