hey! I'm starting to make my custom arch-based distro using archiso and I'd like to make a custom repository and host it on my servers so I can add it to my distro, the thing is, how do I start? What should I use to host it to the public? Any help is appreciated ^^

#

@proper flame what are the packages you are going to host?

proper flame
#

just 1 package?

#

and my custom linux kernel

#

with headers and stuff

#

and some aur packages as well

#

I would recommended uploading that kernel to the aur for easy access

#

that's actually a good idea but

#

i only relay on these two files as im using archiso

#

so if i want custom packages i would probably have to use a custom repository

#

no?

#

wait really?

#

i mean this is what is being pulled from the arch linux repos, how would i implement aur packages in this?

#

maybe im missing something idk

#

o yea that's a local one

#

but im thinking on doing like

#

a public one

#

like

#

actually host it on the web

#

if you know what i mean

#

i do have a domain that i can use and i already have a server set up

proper flame
#

these are just repos that i can use

#

wait

#

okay i'm starting to understand more or less how does it work

#

i guess it's mostly the repo-add command?

#

try it and see

#

is the server debian hosted?

#

@proper flame

proper flame
#

but i do have a reverse proxy that takes care of the requests

#

I would suggest a debian based server

#

i thought i had to use arch for this

#

no

#

how would it work then

#

like

#

i suppose i have to make all of this in the server right?

#

or am i missing something

#

is mailing necessary

#

If you want to inform your users about downtime of your mirror please use the arch-mirrors-announce mailing list.

#

meh i'll straight up skip that then
