#[SOLVED] Firefox using emacs in plasma 6 wayland
54 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
wdym by "emacs layout for text editing"?
basically when im in the address bar and do "ctrl + a" it jumps to the left and does not select everything
i don't use emacs but i double checked it with some emacs shortcuts and they all behaved this way when trying to do any text editing shortcuts in firefox
strange, have you checked for this behavior in a private window or maybe a new profile?
i'll check it rn
same thing on private window
also happens in a new profile
tbh why is wayland forced upon me this way? x11 worked just fine, i didn't want to switch but plasma 6 forced me. i thought about switching to it once but then i read that there are still a lot of issues
very strange, never heard about he issue before.
maybe have you tried clearing the cache or something?!
still does not work
i just did "ctrl + shift + del" to clear the firefox cache, did you mean something different?
does the issue only happens with firefox?
i also use brave (installed it with flatpak) works fine there
ohh
have you tried reinstalling firefox?(some broken config or something)
sudo pacman -S firefox
Still emacs
also did -R and then -S after it didn't work with just -S
i'm gonna reboot and check if anything changes
why, what was the problem with just -S
it still used emacs
i also get this on every reboot
probably because of mocz (japanese input) that one is also broken on wayland
no it actually works
strange, idk if that's the bug with KDE or something else.
tbh idk i guess i'll use x11, it works there
it's just annoying
https://kb.mozillazine.org/Emacs_Keybindings_-_Firefox
not sure if it will help you or not
did that, i guess the correct value is "Readline", also didn't work
no idea if plasma even uses gtk, the file did exist though
not sure about that, but ig firefox is a gtk based application
YESSSSS
IT WORKS
AFTER A REBOOT
ty so much
gtk-key-theme-name="Readline"
it was this line in ~/.gtkrc-2.0
but I don't think you should be using that as a permanent solution
why?
it should be on the Readline by default
idk what's overwriting that value
I don't have that option set in my ~/.gtkrc-2.0
i think i also tried that before, i wrote "Default" instead of "Readline" in there and that is the reason why it didn't work, i don't remember if that line was there at all before
I cloned my arch install to my pc, maybe i still have the original file there
can't check rn though
